I think he's one of those poeple who think that supporting something makes it automatically better

Performance ramifications of various mods
IronTrooper replied to Psycho78's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I think that as long as the mods don't contain too much of scripting or special effects, it shouldn't slow down the game. ACE does a little for me, WarFX in some situations, SLX a little, but most of the others are usually just replacement mods/addons (sound, vehicles, units, islands, ...) - those are no problem. -
See ya in a couple of months
-
Yeah, but I'd say in military it's more useful (better to look at) if it's just black and white.

The throttle seems to behave analog for me, and there is a separate input for brakes in the settings.

I like it, thumbs up BIS

ArmA II Photography I: Questions. Comments & Discussion

Looks great Feint http://www.lightstormimages.com/gallery/games/arma2/f16screens/fullsize/F16-029.jpg -
It had been suggested a few times, and it hasn't changed. So it's probably not a simple task or a high priority for the devs.

ArmA II & OA Photography I - No images over 100kb - Pictures only NO comments.
IronTrooper replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
The game looks pretty even with low PP, I think :) One more: -
That "z-fighting" is a immersion killer. You try to make a nice life like flir video but within the first 2 seconds it's obvious it's a game because of blinking textures.

Visibility of tracers is determined by their location on the screen
IronTrooper replied to maturin's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I'm not sure how it's in OA, but in A2 I had noticed that tracers are not too often visible. Seemed to be bound to the distance from the camera and possibly the camera angle. Maybe optimalization reasons? Anyway, I don't like guessing just from the sounds where the enemy is. -
Which recoil model do you prefer?
IronTrooper replied to celery's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
I like the new recoil because it makes you readjust the aiming but I won't mind if a different solution is used, just don't let it keep returning to the same position. -
I don't mind the animations much, but the reloading times are unrealistically too short. It's always faster to reload than pull out your sidearm.

This is what I don't understand. Considering AI driving skills and AI "micro-walking" abilities, wouldn't it be better if drivers didn't try to avoid pedestrians but let the pedestrians avoid the vehicles? I think it's the other way around now and the result is that when a car encouters someone in its path, it slows down then does some half circles around and runs over the guy anyway. The car is unnecessary delayed.

ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead discussion thread
IronTrooper replied to Tonci87's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
We had noticed something like that already before ;) http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?p=1625635#post1625635 But I wouldn't say "proper" lights, just the cones left out. -
It would be nice if they ran for cover at least in case of explosions. That's the kind of danger you won't solve by hiding in grass. And please make them avoid burning objects (vehicles). I get really mad when I see an AI lying right next to a burning truck happily shooting as if the fire couldn't hurt.

Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead - Radial Command Menu
IronTrooper replied to PacX's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
With the current system I'm staring at the menu only when I'm choosing from multiple actions or targets - if these things were done context sensitive then it would be (as it is most of the time now) just pressing remembered key combinations. -
Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead - Radial Command Menu
IronTrooper replied to PacX's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I think the current system is fine. It just needs a few improvements. Mainly the context sensitive menu. I want to select several soldiers point at an ammo box and choose rearm - but it's not there. Only move, stop (even when they're standing still), cease fire (even when they're not shooting), ... -

IronTrooper replied to Tonci87's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Thanks. Even though it's not the best presentation, I'm still glad to see something new. -
I think that a lot of people mean by the "sounds" actually the sound engine. If there was no number of sounds limitation, the game could sound a lot "richer".

Patch 69645 - changes under the hood
IronTrooper replied to suma's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
I have definitely worse performance compared to 1.05 version. It's noticeable already in the menu. I had about 60fps, now it's 45-50. In the game (without AI) it seems about 10fps lower than usual. My specs: Vista 64bit SP2, Phenom II X4 940 3ghz, 4gb ddr2 1066, nvidia gtx 280 - driver 195.62 Settings: Visibility 3km, 1680x1050, Textures normal, Terrain low, PP off, VidMem very high, Objects low, AF very high, Shadows very high, AA high EDIT: I apologize, the major fps drop I was experiencing seems to have been caused by the hdrprecision=32 setting, after I set it to 8, my fps seem to be about normal. You can change one Bad in the Poll to Good (since the patch is stable so far). -
Latest ArmA2 & ArmA2:OA Press Coverage | NO discussion here!
IronTrooper replied to EricM's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Could be because of recording, busy hard drive - not good for ArmA. Or maybe the reviewer is playing in a 5000x5000 resolution, hard to say ;) -

Nevertheless it's better to have one steady voice than what we have in the game now
