    Hey there -

    In Bleeding Skies, as part of a U.S. airborne unit, you will have to deliver a crate of AA missiles to the anti-Communist resistance in North-Sahrani.

    In order to do so you will have to:

    <ul>[*] HALO jump to the boats left off North-Sahrani by the resistance;

    [*] Contact a CIA agent to know where to deliver the crate (time-critical objective)

    [*] Mark a Drop-Zone to have the crate containing the missiles dropped by a plane in low-altitude stand-by off Sahrani (time-critical objective)

    [*] Find a suitable vehicle somewhere to load the crate

    [*] Deliver it to the resistance.

    [*]The Plot

    The recent spate of demonstrations staged against the communist Sahrani regime has ended in bloodshed and brutal repression, with the army tightening its grip on the island's commodities. Oil in particular has become scarce, all reserves being requisitioned for military vehicles.

    The threat of total nuclear war posed by the current complex system of alliances with countries such as North Korea or China has so far prevented the U.S. from any overt involvement to support the resistance.

    Operation Bleeding Skies is the first covert operation launched to support anti-communist dissidents.

    [*]The Principle

    Bleeding Skies being a covert operation, you are all equipped with SLA weapons.

    <span style='color:red'>Under no circumstances should you be detected and let the alarm be raised</span>. Read on to know how not to let that happen.

    The zone you will have to operate in is criss-crossed by enemy patrols. These patrols are to send a check message to their Head-Quarters at regular intervals. If they don't, then the alarm is raised and support is sent.

    It is therefore advised to refrain from engaging them, but should you have to do it:

    [*] search the bodies for information on where the patrol's assigned Check-Point is and what their radio code is;

    [*] Go to the Check-Point before the time when their check message must be sent (use your action "Check notes" to see the countdown; cf. screenshot above);

  5. Judging from Euro 2004, the more boring and defensive you play, the more likely you are to win. 7 goals were enough for Greece to win the cup (and they took 4) - that's about as many as France scored in the groups (8 for England).

    By these standards, France and Rumania seem to be awfully serious contenders  biggrin_o.gif .


  6. Something that has been happening since 1.09:

    Sometimes after a long time (and repeated Alt-Tabbing), there's an apparent CTD. Apparent, because when checking the Task Manager, the arma.exe processus is still on, but there's no way I can get back into the game (it doesn't appear in the list of opened applications).

    If I start ArmA without stopping the processus, then there's a major drop in FPS.

    Other than that, the performance improvement is more than significant. Great job!

    Yes, for the time being, the ACOG only has GL - by design. I'd forgottent the ACOG was only available with the M203 in the default weapons  huh.gif . A new version this weekend will have fixed that (available magazines will be displayed).

    I've redownloaded the mission and tried positioning the target on SHIFT + map click and it works... Could you tell me exactly how you proceed smile_o.gif ?

    There will also soon be a version where you can spawn a vehicle for you to shoot from... Thanks go to Ricky D. for the suggestion... Yet more work to do I believe  biggrin_o.gif !

    Did anyone get this to run on linux server? For some reason our linux server crashed immediately when giving #missions command on server. After removing the mission the server worked ok. Mission filename was all lower-case. Didn't test if this happened with v1.

    Thanks for your interest Rokka. Unfortunately, I don't have any Linux server, but I'll enquire and report here.

    If anyone managing a Linux server could confirm the mission doesn't work on it, I'd really appreciate it... Thanks in advance!

    With Recon Drill, you will be trained to jump behind lines and recon enemy forces without being detected.

    The mission was designed with one goal in mind: to provide clans with an objective way of assessing a soldier's scouting and infiltrating competences.

    A lot of people fancy themselves SpecOps, Forward Observers or Snipers - among the most sought-after roles, yet also among the most demanding ones.

    With its unique "Recon Points" system, Recon Drill will sort the wheat from the chaff: only the best of the best will succeed.

    The mission is both SP and MP: it provides slots for clan observers to watch the trainee in action, and even a second slot for an instructor to take the jump with the trainee.

    Gentlemen, thanks a lot for your interest and your feedback. Your claims about the spawning are really legitimate, now do I endorse them, I don't know tounge2.gif

    I wanted to simulate total chaos, a rioting town where nowhere is safe... And also whose buildings are "used" by the AI... It'd probaly be a safe bet to say I may have overdone it a tiny wee tad  icon_rolleyes.gif.

    For players to be able to secure areas is feasible. Implementing it will take me on a longer trip with this mission than originally planned... But hey, let's do it!

    NoBrainer, I do sometimes have the same problem as you, and more often than not, the only way to fix it is not to #reassign, but to #missions and #reassign... I really don't know what the cause of it is though... Conflicts between HALO and revive? Initialisation problems on dedicated servers (the problem I first noticed after 1.09)? I don't know. I have no quick fix yet confused_o.gif  

    Again, thanks for the feedback, it's much appreciated. I'll see what I can do about the securing of areas and the spawning of the AI in the next few days smile_o.gif.

    I've taken all your wise requests into consideration. I hadn't noticed the weapons bug you mentioned. It's not caused by your server, but definitely by an oversight of mine: I had forgotten to RemoveAllWeapons the soldiers. Thanks again, even though running around with an M249 throwing M203s was ACE  biggrin_o.gif

    I originally made this mission for "casual" play: you come back from work tired and angry, and you feel like venting out your pent-up emotions on a few AI targets. Insertion is short, and you're straight into the mix.

    Careful, though, it's really intense and uncompromising. I really do hope I won't be the only to love it...
