    Stance indicator

That's no longer true: you can bring out and fire a launcher in standing position.
  2. Absolutely brilliant pack, thank you very very much. Your determination, your resilience and your talent are an example to us all. Thanks a bunch!

    Bleeding Skies

<span style='color:red'>Version 2.0 out, August 28th</span> Hey there - In Bleeding Skies, as part of a U.S. airborne unit, you will have to deliver a crate of AA missiles to the anti-Communist resistance in North-Sahrani. In order to do so you will have to: <ul>[*] HALO jump to the boats left off North-Sahrani by the resistance; [*] Contact a CIA agent to know where to deliver the crate (time-critical objective) [*] Mark a Drop-Zone to have the crate containing the missiles dropped by a plane in low-altitude stand-by off Sahrani (time-critical objective) [*] Find a suitable vehicle somewhere to load the crate [*] Deliver it to the resistance. Of course, many obstacles will stand in your way, and many secondary objectives may appear as you proceed. Read the "Principle" section for more. At any rate: <span style='font-size:27pt;line-height:100%'><span style='color:red'>PLEASE READ THE BRIEFING</span></span> <ul> [*]Downloads The download contains the mission and the ReadMe file (270Ko). <span style='color:red'>No addons</span> are required to play the mission. Current version: v2.0 (August 28th, 2008) The mission was designed and tested under <span style='color:red'>1.14</span>. <ul>[*] Links to the mission: <ul> [*] Mirror to ArmAholic (Courtesy of Big) [*]The Plot The recent spate of demonstrations staged against the communist Sahrani regime has ended in bloodshed and brutal repression, with the army tightening its grip on the island's commodities. Oil in particular has become scarce, all reserves being requisitioned for military vehicles. The threat of total nuclear war posed by the current complex system of alliances with countries such as North Korea or China has so far prevented the U.S. from any overt involvement to support the resistance. Operation Bleeding Skies is the first covert operation launched to support anti-communist dissidents. [*]The Principle Bleeding Skies being a covert operation, you are all equipped with SLA weapons. <span style='color:red'>Under no circumstances should you be detected and let the alarm be raised</span>. Read on to know how not to let that happen. The zone you will have to operate in is criss-crossed by enemy patrols. These patrols are to send a check message to their Head-Quarters at regular intervals. If they don't, then the alarm is raised and support is sent. It is therefore advised to refrain from engaging them, but should you have to do it: <ul> [*] search the bodies for information on where the patrol's assigned Check-Point is and what their radio code is; [*] Go to the Check-Point before the time when their check message must be sent (use your action "Check notes" to see the countdown; cf. screenshot above); [*] And input the corresponding code in the computer: <span style='color:red'>IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT ON TIME:</span> a soldier with a Laser Designator must go to any computer in any checkpoint within 10 minutes to call off support. [*]Key-Features <ul> [*] the possibility to playe with norrin's revive script or instant respawn [*] Spooner's Laser Designator [*] Mandoble's air-support console and missiles [*] A unique system of preventing patrols from raising the alarm through computer hacking [*] Full randomisation of patrols, starting points and locations of objectives [*] Time-critical objectives [*] Insertion with a learning curve [*] An original (if outdated) way of marking DZs [*] The possibility to check alarm countdowns at any time [*] Full briefing and plot, and surprises, and tactical choices, and freedom [*] No spawned units: what you see is what you get [*] Full Read-Me [*] And much more, honestly. [*]Credits <ul> [*] BIS for their great simulator; [*] Spooner for his Laser Designator; [*] SKNKMAN and KeyCat and toadlife for GLII; [*] norrin for his revive script; [*] Cheetah for his CoordToGrid function; [*] snYpir's for his TimeToString function; [*] ManDay's for his HALO set of scripts; [*] Mandoble for his Air-Support Dialog; [*] rickydrier for extensive beta-testing and suggestions. [*] Jack Hammersmith and 23-Down (beta-testers). [*] Kegetys for his spectator script. [*]Known bugs This mission is quite CPU intensive (due to the number of units) but it works fine on regular gear (e.g. a rented server). I hope I haven't forgotten anything and that some of you will enjoy this mission! Regards, Igor. [EDIT] Change Log Version 2.0 * (NEW) Players no longer considered friendlies by the AI after boarding a UAZ; * (FIXED) Patrol countdowns no longer randomly go off for no reason.

USA Politics Thread - *No gun debate*

The fervour and hope Obama managed to raise are very moving. Still, I'm curious to see how this young, cunning, smooth-talking politician with no executive experience will live up to his fans' and the world's expectations. Well done Obama, don't let anyone down!

You should take a look at Silola's DAC system. It does exactly what you wish... And way more too! On a sidenote, you should have posted in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING (I believe). Take care, Igor.

    Black Sword

Thanks a bunch, Manzilla. Your feedback is really really heartwarming . May I suggest - in a fit of shameless self-advertisement - you try Bleeding Skies? It's harder, accordingly, but the plot is tighter, and you may have loads of fun playing it if you've liked Black Sword.

"SERGEANT" indeed, Manzilla, thanks a lot   ! Thanks for the footage, SiC-Disaster, I'm really glad you liked the mission .

@ mark82101 Make sure all files mentioned in all .hpp or the description.ext files with a line like "#include "bla.hpp" are present. If you don't need them, scrap the files AND delete the corresponding lines in the .hpp/.ext. Good luck! @ cuppa Make sure you spell "SERGENT" correctly. Then it should be followed by your ingame name. Hope it'll work, let me know if it doesn't. Bye for now, Igor.

Hi Mark - Unpbo Black Sword and take a look at the AAHALO folder: Â you'll see that mouseTracker.hpp and FreeFall.sqf have been modified by me (the changes have been commented). Use them if you want the minimap. All credits must go to ManDay, he's the one who created this fantastic set of scripts. Take care, Igor.

    International Politics Thread

Let me state it clearly: the only thing www.rferl.org has got to do with the article is: 1) to have translated it; 2) to have selected it for publishing in this ocean of information we all drown in. The original link is here. For your theory to be true, you need to prove that Yezhednevny Zhurnal is financed by the US Congress, and that Yulia Latynina, or her editors, are American stooges. I'm not saying it's not the case, but the burden of proof is on your shoulders. In the meantime, I'll just sit back and read one of her other leaders, and take it for what it claims to be, i.e. a Russian, anti-Putin voice.

    International Politics Thread

@ Baddo Interesting, though somewhat misleading, research. Just so we get the right bias clear (we're all grown-up to understand that everything is biased): Yulia Latynina writes for Yezhednevny zhurnal and Novaya Gazeta, which are newspapers close to Kasparov's party, The Other Russia. Her article has been quoted and translated by a website financed by the US Congress (I'll take your word for it, Baddo, I haven't checked). I thought it was interesting to mention that point of view - but let's take it for what it is, shall we?

    International Politics Thread

Scubaman, I sympathise - but it's people like you who make this board an interesting read. Thanks for sharing your views and your experience. For a less West-centered, less geopolitical, less apolcalyptical, yet uncomplacent, approach of the conflict, Yulia Latynina's analysis may be of some interest. Let's hope she won't follow Politkovskaya...

The tragic irony of having communism praised and Western liberties bashed on a Czech forum... As to the freedom of the Russian press, one knowledgeable person would be Anna Stepanovna Politkovskaya ...

    2008 Beijing Olympics

Nice try, but that doesn't count.   There a limit on the number of athletes per country that can participate! If the EU were to participate as a single entity, they are limited to 196, instead of the thousands that could have competed for the "EU". Ah, thanks for pointing it out. Another dream down the gutter  ! I'd love to see the EU compete as one, though .

    Black Sword

Hi RSV_Ecosse - Thanks for your interest. I'm going to try to help you, but it's been a while, so I may not be that helpful... ***Spoilers*** You do need to find an officer (as in, a guy with a cap and no primary weapon). There are several dispatched on the map. Kill one and search his body. As to the LD, you only need one battery. Turn it on, an action should appear ("use laptop" or something along those lines). ***End of spoilers*** I hope it helps! Take care, Igor.

    2008 Beijing Olympics

Kudos for the EU: with its 500 million inhabitants, it raked in roughly 280 medals, including 87 gold... Long live the Union!

    International Politics Thread

This is as serious in my eyes as Holocaust denial. It sends chills down my spine to think of the sort of people this person claims to be the spokesperson for. Red Khmers maybe? On how stalinism and nazism are two forms of one same régime, totalitarianism, the similarities in structures and methods decribed in Hannah Arendt's The Origins of Totalitarianism are baffling. Of course, this, like the work of renowned historians and philosophers, will likely be dismissed as "Hollywood bullshit". Well, they're pretty high, the standards in Hollywood, these days...

    Bleeding Skies

Thanks for your interest gentlemen. The mission has a learning curve, so feel free to ask me any questions about it (I'm thinking about the complex alarm system, which adds yet other time-critical objectives). Spooner, I'm very flattered: I love your work mate, it's probably the most underrated of this community.

    UEFA Euro 2008

I've never seen Germany give it all up like that. Bit of a myth falling to pieces for me. I for one will blame it all on Ballack. His piss-poor performance, combined to his repeated fouls and his bad mood, seem to have shattered the team's morale (in no way a responsible behaviour for a captain. His injury should be no excuse, it's a bloody final of the Euro! ) - except maybe for Schweinsteiger, the only one I saw actually fighting and trying to cheer everybody up. Put him captain of the team, you won't regret it. Spain played marvellously, and well deserve the cup. I was absolutely stunned by Sergio Ramos's performance throughout the competition. The bugger was absolutely everywhere on the field. My two pence, Igor.
