Yeah, I reported this a bunch of pages ago. Very useful feature when trying to navigate without constant map viewing. It has never worked except when a bug caused that feature to teleport the player to the shift clicked location! -
I like the sound of that! I'd like to either fly to a hot LZ and have AI gunners hose the place down, or be the door gunner while AI nicely orbits the zone. Go a bit easy on the crew who might otherwise be shot dead instantly through the canopy.

As a fellow video game programmer, I can't recommend this technique for improving game performance. Sure you may see some more FPS but you are effectively overriding the schedulers priority for certain tasks. Some of those tasks are critical, so the more you increase that priority the more problems you will encounter eg. sound breaking up, networking disruption, background game processing such as terrain streaming effected etc. There is probably no harm in bumping it up one level but don't push your luck. Just a friendly warning because you really can't get something for nothing with shared system resources. Close other applications while running games and let the developers and driver writers try to manage the system. If this technique was truly effective, the developers would do it from within the game.

I know what you mean by eyepain. I can't stand the in game upscaling either. I just run the whole game at 1280x800 both 3D and interface. The interface can be set to very small. It is not great but the game is then a bit blocky rather than blury. BIS has improved upscaling on their ToDo list but who knows when it will be implemented. Also, make sure you turn off post processing for both performance and to reduce eye-pain due to all the bur effects.

Well there's your problem. Please drop your 3D or game resolution to 1280x800 (or similar) and watch what happens to your average and minimum frame rates. And yes, the game does have a performance issue which a good chunk of this forum testifies to.You will not break your LCD running this game at a lower resolution, and you don't even have to if you drop the 3D resolution alone. It will look bury and ugly but it will also become playable.

Most of the youtubes I've seen from ordinary people, which show good frame rates, are running at low resolutions. You can't easily tell the resolution from the tiny tube vids. Other than that, people are overclocking their systems like crazy to make this game perform.

Your video card is a weak point. Also, your CPU (which is the same as mine) will still struggle with this game. Please drop your game 3D resolution to very low resolutions like 1024x768 or 1280x720 or lower if possible. Put all other settings to normal except Anti Aliasing Off and Post Processing Off. Does that run smoother?

Interesting. I know several civilian vehicle types seem to contain a bunch of soviet ammo, but does the red pickup come with weapons? I'm not interested in more AK or RPG rounds, I want big guns and launchers :) -

It seems the truck doesn't carry near the ammo and weapons it use to. I used to drag that truck around as my mobile ammo crate, now I have to take care conserving ammo as I can't just spam gunfire / rockets then grab another gun / launcher from the back of the truck. -
Yes, exactly. ARMA2, configured with anything higher than 'normal' detail and relatively low resolution is unplayable, or nearly unusable on most rigs out there. The game has terrible performance, best described as 'erratic', even on current fast systems like Intel i7 920 + Geforce GTX 295. Sure you can get high frame rates, but you don't play the game looking up at the sky. The performance of this game, compared to most other modern games is atrocious and that is blatantly obvious to anyone who browses this forum. I have probably spent more time profiling and benchmarking this game than playing it and that is where my knowledge of its crazy performance characteristics comes from.

There's nothing wrong with your new system. Your performance is normal for the spec you describe. From my many many hours of testing, best performance comes from: Low res: 1280x800 or similar All settings to: Normal AA and Post Processing to: Disabled for performance or personal preference. View Distance: 2000 Sure you can bump all the settings up, you'll just get frequent low frame rates. The game is most dependent on CPU speed. Other than that, for some reason screen resolution effects the real and apparent frame rate. (Apparent being the user experienced smoothness.)

I think that is an ARMA2 bug. I had a Shilka follow me around once, pointing at me but not firing until I placed a land mine on it. -

Just tried this Launcher, it is looking great :) When making a new profile, can we please create it as a copy of an existing profile? Also, the command line can quickly get very long, can you please make this a much larger text box with (the effect of) wrapping and scrolling so the whole command line can be previewed easily without copying and pasting to an external program? ---------- Post added at 06:45 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:41 AM ---------- Crash bug to report: Steps to reproduce: 1) Start Launcher 2) Profiles -> New 3) Enter name 'test' 4) Highlight new profile 'test' in the profiles dialog 5) Rename, Enter name 'test2' 6) Observe exception It appears the new profile has not yet been created but the rename operation is allowed. -
Equipping units in the briefing map scene is quite cumbersome. Is there a way to quickly switch to the Next or Previous unit while viewing their Gear? At present, the process goes: Unit -> Gear -> [Edit Gear] -> Close Repeat for up to 10 units. Next & Previous arrows at the top of the unit inventory, just like the top of the weapon/item list would make this a snap. Perhaps this already exists but I'm blind and stupid?

This has probably been requested under a different label... I love how in MP games, if your player character dies, you inhabit the next AI until the whole squad is used up. Can this be emulated for SP games? -

Just played 1.41. The extraction chopper never lifted off. It just hovered at the spot it landed. The mission did end though, still showing the chopper hovering slightly above the ground. Probably just ARMA. I saw all sorts of buggy things during that mission... Jerky animations for distance AIs, a enemy car crashed and burned, a civ truck drove through fences. I had to 'fence climb' into the objective building as the door step was too high to just walk in. -
