    Multiplayer unplayable

Many people have that problem, though. The solution is to reset vram every 15 minutes. Do this by: hold left shift an '-' numpad key, then type in "flush" and press enter. The screen goes black a second and then shows the game again if successfull. I haven't crashed since I started doing this. I have 2*nvidia geforce 7600gt SLI.

everyone happy with VOIP or not?

Yep, the ingame VON is crap. Thank god for TS. I don't really care if they fix it or not, there are so many other things to be fixed/added to the game. And I never play on public servers anyway, since BI forgot to add that anti-cheat stuff they were so proud of...

climatic changes, what do you think about that?

    5) Your inability, following on from the above, to understand that: Even given some lag in temperature change; caused by an insulation effect and you do not describe what this last 15 years insulator is, that temperatures are rising exponentially for the last 15 year period when sunspot activity is in decline according to your graph; this is not what a lagged effect would do; a lagged effect would have declining rise not an exponential one. Unless of course the level of insulator is increasing. By the way if you are looking for a global insulator green house gasses are your best bet. 6) Your tendency to misquote scientific research and act as if what you misquote is in some way scientific when it suits your view but to then denigrate scientists and science as charlatans with statements like: when their research does not fit you view, even the very ones who's research you misquote. 7) That you misrepresent others including me in this thread as not understanding that climate change have had natural causes in the past; when it was I and not you who put up each of the other known causes of climate change in the world, in detail and proceeded to show scientificly with evidense why each of them did not apply for this temperature anomaly. Kind Regards walker Don't be too hard on him. Some people just see conspiracies everywhere I think it has something to do about not feeling adequate

Is video-game addiction a mental disorder?

I wonder if it's genetically? I mean, it's proven that some people genetically have a higher risk of falling into a addiction such as alcohol or smokes. IMHO should children never be addicted to anything, and it's their parents job to stop it. That said, I don't think theres anything worse than when parents simply have a zero-tolerance rule forbidding their children to ANY form of a computer game. That'll probably just make it worse in the long run anyway

I can't rotate the helicopters it's when moving?

Well, I never flew a jet, but I have flown gliders for a long time. The yaw in the planes feel very much like a the yaw of a glider. But as I said, never flewn a jet. The flight model in ArmA is much better than in OFP. I remember being able to land the A-10 anywhere on the map by simply shutting down the engine, and put the noise up, the a-10 would then slowly glide to the ground making a vertical landing

    Shoot from moving vehicles

Unless you simply assign new static cargospots in the helicopters, so people can shoot you from the ground - and then make everything else locally. Then you won't see any lag.

    Expansion: Arma: Queen's Gambit

While I agree to an extent, I have to say that all the BAS work is crap now compared to the current ARMA content. If BIS artists had released content as regularly as addons makers then the argument that the community can do better wouldn't be valid. Your comparing things made years after the initial game content was made. Also creating an ENTIRE game's worth of content with the same style and quality for a release is different than making a couple addons that are high end, but don't fit with much else or are a bit dodgy and don't work with other addons, or whatever. I'll agree more with Maa. There were hundreds if not thousands of addons released, and I'd personally say less than 10% would even touch the quality of the ARMA content, and of that 10% the majority only appeal to a very small portion of the community or work well with the core content and other addons. I can't wait to see what addons come out, but it will be ages before enough addons are made that come close to matching the arma content artistically and technically. I agree some content can be reskinned to higher quality now, but thats just a drop in the bucket to the entire production process. How many OFP addons were actually UVmapped, textured and configed correctly? I'm not holding my breathe assuming most addons will be done correctly or that the overall quality will get better when the tools come out. Most addons for OFP were crap, including many of the things I worked on over the years, and I'm guessing most ARMA addons will be crap as well. Having the tools out doesn't mean the overall quality of work will rise, and again, if you can't make an addon correctly now, the tools won't help. The tools will be out sooner or later, and saying that an expansion should take a back seat to releasing editing tools is silly. :edited for spelling: Yes of course them addons is lower quality than BI ones in ArmA. The same reason that Wolfenstein 3D won't impress many young gamers as it impressed me. The BAS addons was created to OFP: ressistance and to an extend, VBS. It's a different outdated engine, so they didn't have the same technology posibilities as with the ArmA engine. Now we have the engine, but not the tools to 'exploit it'. Offtopic - It's also funny you should mention BAS vs ArmA, though. As the littlebirds in ArmA clearly have MUCH in common with the latest BAS ones. Yea, it's a rip-off, but a damn good one. Would have been 'smoother' if the people that made those littlebirds currently in ArmA, actually had been paid for it. From the developers point of view, you are right - it would be silly to release the tools first and then release the expansion pack. But not for the community and I guess that in the long run, it would be a nice step to do it now, before ArmA looses much more of it's appeal and the community. Just look at OFP, the tools kept the community interested in the game, and even now, new addons are coming out for ofp allmost every day. Too bad the community was this small, but that's because most people had long forgotten OFP when the quality addons made it out to the public since the tools were released very late. I also agree that getting the tools isn't an overall magical solution, and even with the tools we are going to see a large amount of 'crappy work' from addonmakers. But it's quite easy, let's just not download them, ey? I can ignore 10 threads with crappy addons, just so I can spot one impressive one. I think I have much more faith in the addon community than you have, though. I'm quite sure we will see addons that is far superior to the ones BI made. The simple reason is, that an addon-hobbyist can use 100 hours creating one single addon, and BI can't. They had to have various models ready for a rushed release, so of course they took a few easy turns a couple of times. (The campaign was a bit too easy, though). I for one can't wait till they release the tool that makes us possible to tweak the AI. There are soo many talented scripters outthere, that can make wonders with very little. Imagine what they can do using such tools. For proof, just look at OFP again and the FDF-mod. Man, that was impressive.

Is video-game addiction a mental disorder?

It's just another group trying to blame the system that they failed in life. These 'whiners' all have one thing in common. They don't take responsibity for their own life and actions.

    Using 2 Versions possible?

rename your arma.exe Then you can install another instance of ArmA.

    Expansion: Arma: Queen's Gambit

That's just our experience from OFP. There was alot of addons in OFP that was way better than the original BI ones. Some of those addons actually delivered some features that BI thought was impossible in the poseidon engine. It's not that BI isn't talented - i'm sure they are. But 1000 talented minds works better than 10 . I don't know why you bring up 20%? If just 1% of all addons released succeed BI addons, then we are going to have one hell of a pile of awesome addons.

It doesn't sound like it's a starforce problem, as it's not the copy protection that kicks in.

    Expansion: Arma: Queen's Gambit

Maybe we will see some of the promised features for ArmA in the expansion? Things like coop campaign, wildlife etc. Too bad we have to pay for the things that was marketed as already in arma 1.0. I sure hope that they will update current arma so that it is compatible with the expansion pack, and not like ressistance. They can't really expect people to buy an expansion pack just to fix the already bought game so that it is playable. I don't even think that is legal here in Denmark. Info about the tools is great news, that is great. Thankfully makes some of my earlier concerns fall. It's beginning to smell not like some kind of moneyscam but more like they really wanna give us some quality time in ArmA singleplayer. Let's hope they will release it as just that - and won't make anything exclusively in MP in this expansion, so that they won't be compatible (That would really smell like a money-scam).

    Expansion: Arma: Queen's Gambit

I always end up with a CTD or sometimes a complete cold reboot in MP (about 1-1,5 hours of play). I don't have any problems in other games. I don't think an expansion from BI right now is going to sell well. First of, there aren't really many ArmA owners out there atm. And as long as the game isn't finished yet, we won't be seing many newcomers either. BI have to finish the game to attract more gamers. I have a few mates which were diehard OFP fans, and while they were pretty impressed by the first looks of the game (this was in 1.05), they quickly found out how clumsy everything is in it. Admittedly, 1.08 is alot better - alot more streamlined etc. But it isn't enough - not in todays standards. //Edit - oh... and I have to download cracks to play the game, as Sh*tForce isn't working properly and tell me it can't find my DVD, even though it reads fine from within windows, and there aren't any damage to it. Again, I don't have problems with Sh*tForce in any other game (B&W2), so it can't just be that driver-software. Oh, and i'm on Windows XP

    Expansion: Arma: Queen's Gambit

You should consider the following though: BIS dont have to release any free tools, releasing the "tools" is actually inconvenient to them for several reasons. You only payed for a game, people take things for granted very easily, if/when they release these its their call. Very few artists were able to reach vbs1's quality standards (2003 stuff) and very few will be able to produce whole new content that reaches Arma's default. An official expantion is more likely to deliver goodies (so far, not in this case) without spliting MP users into diferent mods, addon packs and individual releases with several versions into the mix. BIS only have to make sure that users get their money worth out of this expantion. Mods or not Resistance was a great package, you wont find a user made OPF island that comes close to Nogova (whole new island includes new objects, buildings and decoration). I agree, Ressistance was a great expansion pack. And it came in good timing as well, just after OFP was fully patched to 1.46 removing all the major bugs. I also liked Nogova (As I like Sahrani). But releasing an "expansion pack" is not the time. Maybe in 6 months or more, but not while the game is cripling on most users PC. This smells too much of payed patches. BI promised us the tools prior release saying that all the tools will be available for the public for free. As they haven't said anything else, I assume that stays (they even confirmed it at several occations). I take the liberty to expect something when the people in charge is telling me that I am entitled for it. I generally expect the good in people/companies and trust in their good intentions. There have been released alot of addons for other games that by far is better than the VBS stuff. But we need the tools to make quality addons into the BI games to make use of all the engine capabilities. Without the tools, we are simply limited in creation. So I say; Continue release patches for free, give us them tools - and in 6 months, release a quality expansion pack like you did with ressistance that gives us alot new engine features etc. Oh, and better release 1 GOOD campaign instead of 2 poor-made campaigns, such as the one shipped with ArmA.

    Expansion: Arma: Queen's Gambit

Errr, what? ArmA was always billed as "OFP 1.5" Are people forgetting things, or making them up to suit their arguments? That's not true The last 1,5 years prior release, ArmA was marketed as the spiritual sequeal to OFP. Even Maruk said in an interview, that ArmA had developed into OFP 2. I really do hope BI comes up with something else than just retextures and an Island. And I really do not hope BI uses this project as a moneymaker, thus only release patches for this 'modification' as they did to OFP with ressistance. That means that they will force us to buy this 'mod'. They cannot possible argument that it is time for such 'expansion pack' as they haven't released a proper working ArmA yet. If they do that, I will loose all respect to BI and will definately abandon ArmA. Oh, and of course they wont release the tools before this MOD - they know many of the community members here are much more skilled in making realistically and playable units, islands and mods.
