turret class parameter
Espectro (DayZ) replied to INNOCENT&CLUELESS's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Seriously? So your saying Arma supports turrets on planes now? !! B17/B52 - here we come! -
And that would probably not matter in 500 years.. I believe that in 500 years, mankind has mastered nano-technology to control any kind of virus/bacteria. In fact.. I even believe no human would probably live in a common body. Even though the media makes a hype of any kind of viral disease.. I think it's a good thing. In my opinion it's a matter of "healthy paranoia" in human nature. Healthy paranoia? lol

Call to all MP Coop Mission Makers Out there!
Espectro (DayZ) replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Just use the move command. grp move getpos heli; That will make the group called 'grp' move to the vehicle called heli. To name a group, simply use: grp = group player; Or you can even assign the crew of a vehicle to a group, like: Example: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">grp = group heli;grp move _pos That will make the heli move to _pos. -
Just play on servers that have it disabled.

Interview with a tournament site admin

I'm not surprised he was drunk... It doesn't take much for simon to be drunk, and he doesn't even like beer!! -
We are multiple people who experience crashing when initial spawning is near water in MP. These crashes are normally fixed if spawning point is moved into land.

I think it's a bug with the streaming terrain system. I have noticed the exact same problem when 'teleported' to different areas on a map that wasn't loaded a second ago. Although when teleporting it is not a bug, it is still the same symptom, and it is probably because the engine is too slow to realise your movement, and doesn't find it nessecary to load in the textures of your position. It could be because it is loading those textures into your last 60 megs on ya videocard (which doesn't exist), but if that was the issue, I would find a CTD more likely than just 'missing textures'. It might be, that the game engine simply misunderstands what LOD to load, or is simply to slow loading it. Question for BI: When a new object appeer on screen, will the engine automatically load the lowest LOD and work it's way up to the highest LOD? This would explain this weird behavior i'm having, and a fix could be, that the game checks distance to the new object and loads the correct LOD up right away.

Demo users reported alot better performance with the new .exe. I just think we need to wait for BI to release the patch to us full-gamers. Also, you using winxp or vista? Cause when I host on Vista I see no fps drop weather it's 1 or 10 people on it (or very litle), while on winxp, It's dropping around 6 fps. (from 1 to 10. My connection is, however, not good enough to have anything playable if more than 10 people are connected. Oh, my system specs. AMD64 3800+ X2 dualcore 2 * geforce 7600GT SLI (But only using one in Vista, due to lack of SLI support atm). 2 gb dual-ram.

What im talking about is, that the past 3000 years we have begun a new ice-age. Iceages don't happen from day to day, ya know It's not because of us, it''s just the circle of things . Anyway, that the CO2 we pump into our enviroment has of course some influence on the planet. Just like any other subject - different research groups have different results. Even the IPCC thát you reffered to concluded the following: "Our judgement is that: global mean surface air temperature has increased by 0.3 to 0.6 oC over the last 100 years...; The size of this warming is broadly consistent with predicion of climate models, but it is also of the same magnitude as natural climate variability. Thus the observed increase could be largely due to this natural variability; alternatively this variability and other human factors could have offset a still larger human-induced greenhouse warming. The unequivocal detection of the enhanced greenhouse effect is not likely for a decade or more. " To sum it up. The CO2 incriese happends because of human activity. The temperature increase, however, may or may not be because of the CO2 incriese. What my point is, it is pretty cryable that we still talk and talk about the greenhouse effect and CO2 levels, but we neglect to discuss all the chemicals that we put into our own food. Hell, we even put stuff in our groceries that we do not allow to put in pet-food.

this is of course the problem... if we go by the last century, we could reasonable expect a pandemic every 33 years. Pandemic on what scale, and when is of course the question. Yea, although I believe many of the allergic reactions we see among young people these days is also caused by what poison manufactures put into the food we are eating. It's the same problem though - the majority of the consumers must be priotizing how long the food lasts over health. We obviously want clean homes, clean food etc. This comes with a cost that we simply cannot pay. Children gets allergic reactions. Mens sperm quality decreasing etc. And all we can talk about is CO2 levels and global warming - just to get our mind away from the real problems. If you look through the past many thousands of years, CO2 and temperature have always jumped up and down. Why should it be different? People tend to forget we are living in the beginning of an iceage - and one like it have never resulted in stable temperatures before. I still believe the biggest threat to the human species is the 'need for focus on single problems' and the demand for hyping it.
-
Of course there is a reason to be cautious about this, but we need to put things in perspective. Who knows if we will see a pandemic within the next couple hundreds of years? Maybe in 10 years We don't know it. If a REAL threat arise, we will be in great trouble, though, since the flu will spread like ever before (with modern transportation). The bottom line is, that it's rather pathetic producing enormious stocks of strains for Influenza A, when it haven't even evolved yet. This will (if it has minimum effect on the virus) only result in the virus evolves even quicker into something completely immun to our current drugs. We need to wait until we have a precise Vaccine before production should start. In the meantime we could buy some food for the poor

Yea, well.. It seems that BI has started answering questions now... What a relief It would be cool if they released a list of stuff they are working on in patches.

Any Word Yet about the CTI???
Espectro (DayZ) replied to -ASW-AllShotUp's topic in ARMA - MULTIPLAYER
Isnt it possible to unPBO the file, make a remove-corpse script and then pbo it again? -
Yea, it may evolve or it may not evolve. Personally I believe there are so many more deceases out-there to take our breath away before this bird-flu evolves. It takes pretty long for a virus like the bird flu to evolve, and it needs alot of 'safe nests'. The time is there, of course, but being that mortal as it is, it will have a hard time finding human nests to occupy... The people infected simply dies instead of mutating the virus.
-
Personally I think this bird-flu topic is highly dramatised by the media and by fame-seeking 'scientists'. The whole idea about it being a 'new decease' is rather hilarious in my mind, and I bet it have been around for thousands of years. Very few people have died of it, and it seems logical that people dying ealier from it would simply have been marked as a normal flu victim (or other). Especially when the symptoms is lung-decation. Around 155 people have died from it until now, but my guess is alot more, since not every part of the world is that good at identifying. (Source: http://online.wsj.com/public....c.html) Anyway, let's say the number is 300 people to be on the safe side. There is 6679611714 people on our planet. That is 0.00000449% of the world population have died of the bird flue - and that's in three years. I think the numbers speak for themselves, try compare them to victims of hunger and poverty, where 25000 people die EACH DAY. (Source: http://www.youthxchange.net/main/b221_hunger-a.asp) Why does the bird flu suddenly get all this attention? Well, I believe there are more factors involved. First of all, people need something to fear from. And the idea of som distant decease in Asia is alot more comfortable than your average gunman around the corner. Also, who benefit from all this hype? The medical industry of course, and the powerful men behind them. These people and companies won't earn anything on AIDS medication to poor people, food for the hungry and other medical threatment to the poor. But manufacturing and selling flu-medicine (That even didn't seem to work too good) to the west is a safe-investment. Especially when you have your average newsposter and 'experts' on tv telling us how likely this doomsday decease is gonna spread to your neighbourhood. To sum it up. The bird flu have been there all along. It's more dangerous than the normal influenza, but it's very passive and the only way to get infected is by inhaling excrements from infected animals or humans. I know this has (almost) absolutely nothing to do with ya topic, except the title. But I wanted to express my feelings and I don't believe it deserves its own topic.

@Paco In future: If you want to get an answer from BIS: The quickest way is: Just email them to support@bistudio.com. I did this, exactly about the topic (multiple joystick support) and got an answer right on the next morning. (about the same what suma wrote). Why in the world didn't you tell us, then?

Hey there This is my first mission. <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">http://www.armedassault.eu/files/[1-11 (COOP)]Combined%20Assault.Sara.rar mirror; http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=651 Briefing: All grunts start in the US base. A blackhawk will come and pick you up. It is the leader of this group's job to select where you want to be inserted. You do this by using radio Alpha (0-0-1), and click on the map. It is possible to change the insertion point incase it is too hot. The leader simply clicks on a different place on the map to do so. The primary objective is to collect some intel from the enemy in this base. One of the officers should have the papers on him. When you have the intel, it is important that you get out of the base and back here FAST before enemy reinforcement arrives. We cannot pick you up by chopper since a landing in this area is simply too risky. For your information, we have three zodiacs at your disposal lying near the enemy base, incase you want to engage from the North. You also have a laser designator with you, that can help pointing out the targets for the harrier. ------- There are 10 spots in first group including SF recon with laser designator. The group leader of this group selects the insertion point (where the chopper will take you) in each session so the mission is never the same. The enemy always have different numbers, loadouts, patrols and positions. The map takes a while to take, and I made it with private coop servers using Teamspeak in mind, since it really does need alot of communication. There is also a harrier in the game that you can play as. The harrier is equipped with 5 bombs and 300 rounds. A good idea is to let the first group designate targets for the harrier. You can choose to have the harrier in the game or not... There are also secondary targets in the map you can engage to get equitment. Some are well defended, others are not. When spotted by the enemy, the enemy will call for backup and will come looking for you. Try and get home safely . Oh, and the mission features kegetys spectator script, and the entire mission have been tested on dedicated server. This is my first arma mission, so be gentle to it - and thanks to sickboy for helping me with some of the code. 1 thing... The number 9 unit has the laser designator.

ARMA Script:Dynamic Weather and Time Flow Modifier
Espectro (DayZ) replied to ColonelSandersLite's topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Untested for ArmA yet. A gamelogic named "Server" is needed. If someone wants to rewrite it/ include random weather changes be my guest. Â Works in arma. -
Do you have a lowend system since the lag? How much more computer power does these destructable objects take compared to ordinary ones?
-
Exactly... It hit his body armor.
-
I assume we aren't gonna see this patch until UK-release? :/
-
Hmm.... Have you connected your G25 to an USB2 port? Tried changing usb ports? I'm just guessing here, as you said we really don't know much.
-
Hmm.. I believe that as soon as an admin is logged in, the timeout deactivates?
-
It's a bug - you can't do it unless you block your internet connection. I wish BI would start supporting their game - unless they still on vacation? No words whatsoever on anything. Neither from the developer nor publishers. gg BI - you lost what you had from OFP.
