Iraq Modern Warfair COOP Mod
ebud replied to {9thinf}Ghost-IMW-Dev's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Sorry, they were so tiny I didn't think it amounted to much. Heck give me a warning box. I feel left out without one Back to the "polys" . If you look at the other stryker models on that site you can see that the 2 million poly count on the slat version is a misprint. -

Wow, 200,000 polys? A little excessive for a game model. http://www.3dexport.com/details.php?image_id=2104&mode=search -
hehe, then looks like you'll be missing out I'm a snob, but not THAT much of a snob I agree that it really should be taken out of O2, reuvmapped and brought back in... or a new one done with the new standards in mind, but that could be a while. Til then I'm more than happy to have this sucker to play with for now.

Your loss. It was a seriously cool movie. Not a History Channel documentary, but man o' man was it a fun fun movie to watch. It's like Sin City and Gladiator rolled into one movie, but add more action. I freakin' loved it

I'm all about knee-jerk reactions and then trying to cover up I personally don't think it's boring enough to have to go and start a thread about it. That's just something an attention whore would do in my opinion. "I have something pointless to say! Look at me! Look at me! I'm causing controversy! Look at me! Look at me!" But that's a lot of threads so it's probably just me being cynical. Back to this game being boring. If you bought this game to have something new to play after getting tired of BF2 or CS or GRAW or whatever I can see it being boring. If your an OFP fan and bought it thinking it would take the OFP concept and propel it into a new era of gaming, I'm sure you'd be disappointed and find it a bit boring since in reality your just doing the same gaming you have been doing for 3 or more years, but now it just looks nicer. I'll take it for what it is, OFP updated a bit and with much better looks. I never got bored of OFP TBH, but then again mostly all I did was try and recreate a lot of actions that have taken place in RL in places like Afghanistan, Africa, Vietnam, Chad etc. So I never ran out of things to make or missions to try out. I may have gotten bored and jumped to a new game for a week or so after getting burned out, but I don't think I ever found it boring just like I don't think I'll ever find ARMA boring. I may get tired of it and try something new for a bit, but that's about it.

Boring my ass. I bet the people who say this is boring would say the same about Steel Beast Pro or Falcon. Great games in their genre, but not something many would find "fun." Just because YOU think it's boring doesn't mean it's poorly designed or a bad game. I think games like Civilization or wargames like Tacops are boring as heck. Doesn't mean they are bad games or that I should go there and rip on them or the devs because I don't find them to my liking. edit: ok, maybe a little boring after all these years and the campaign not being something I would want to play again.

I never play many games other than OFP/ARMA, the occasional tank/flight sim, and every couple of year a shooter like Vietcong or GRAW so my overall experience in gaming is becoming very limited as the time I have for them dwindles as the years go by. That being said, for me this game is one of the best games I've ever played. My favorite games years ago were Twilight 2000 and Gammaworld. My favorites movies back then were Road Warrior, Mad Max. The Post Apocalyptic setting will always be a favorite of mine. So for me, this game is a rare gem. It does feel like an older game, but the environment and "mood" of the game is just friggin' great. The whole time I'm playing it with headphones on I'm always wanting to look over my shoulder, the sounds give me the creeps the entire time I'm playing. I had to turn the music off as it was just too much. I really enjoy how alien the entire place feels while still grounding you in the familiar. Abandoned buildings always creep me out for some reason in RL so this game just has me by the throat. I played Doom3 for about 15 minutes. It made me jump a few times, but it didn't make me want to keep playing. This game isn't as pretty as some, but the overall feeling of dread I get while playing it is what keeps me playing. I have an overactive imagination and love the genre so I can "get into" the game. I've never played a game I have as much "fun" playing as this one. It could be better, but I'll take it as it is. I just can't stop playing it.

Don't worry about them. I made my SF as generic as possible since once you add a name to them, it's easy for people to pick them apart. Without any tools to customize the models what else can ya do but reskin? I think you did a damn good job on them and I personally think the camo the seals are wearing in the photo looks more like the Navy digi cam than the ACU, but that may just be because they're navy and my mind wants to assume it's the navy cam. At least you went ahead and made them how you wanted. Either way they're really nice and look forward to seeing what else you try.

Put the file ebu_socom1.pbo in your addons folder. Make sure it actually is in the folder and not in a folder inside the addons folder. For the missions to work put them directly in the missions folder. For the missions to work you need to put the files PKS_Gang.pbo and G85_Editor.pbo directly in your addons folder.

Too many problems in the past with random textures. I've done several addons that tried it and they all failed, so even if I had the tools I highly doubt I could do it. There have been ways to do it, but non that worked well. And thanks for the nice comments
-
I have to disagree totally here. They are nice, but I have never once missed them. In OFP the only time I ever saw them was when I initially jumped in the vehicle. Every other second was in a scope view looking out. They are fluff unless there is a good reason to have them. I think interiors were one of the main reasons a lot of vehicles were never finished or started. If they have them fine, if not I personally don't miss them one single bit. I'd rather have more vehicles than fewer if interiors are the deciding factor
-
Wow... that's really impressive.
-
Yes, now I'll finally finish all those units I started a long time ago. Been sitting on them for a while now.

Pic thanks to Parvus UPDATE : 25 March ADDON DESCRIPTION ================= This addon represents generic US Special Operations and plain clothed units (SF, CIA, Contractors, etc) units by supplying default ARMA models using custom textures. Included are units in woodland, tri-color desert, CQB and civilian clothing. This is the final version of these units. If something is broken I'm not sure when or if I'll be able to update them. Thanks to Wolle, the missions should now work. UPDATED LINKS FOR MARCH 25 SuckySuckLongTime Main Download

Thanks. I was hoping to get the other thread just moved over here, but this is better I guess. I haven't tested them much, or the updated missions Wolle sent me. Hope it all works since I'm not touching them any more, lol.
-
First post updated. Can this get moved to Addons Complete?
-
First posted edited with new link. Hopefully this should be the last one.
-
no idea. It's not this addon that's causing it from what I can tell. I've played with them for weeks without that error.
-
I fixed all those init errors last night. They were from those CQB units that were added to the bottom of the config. I still think I'll leave the missions out. Sorry Wolle. I've already deleted them so I wouldn't be tempted to waste time on them, but if you can play them without crashing I guess I could throw them back in. I'll post another pbo in here tonight just to make sure.

My new Desert & DPM Troops
ebud replied to G_H_Play_AKA_BOSS's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Yea i think that would be tottally awsome buddy if wot you mean is make more british looking vest for then as the u.s. ones dont quite cut it but still look good,& im all up for that. You have probably downloaded the ones from the link above so have a go at it,but will the config ect... that we have, have to be changed, & also the damned is also making the kevlar helmets & i am going to re texture them. Plus am a big fan of the work you have done all ready i have your stuff in my @Addons folder lol. & thanks for your positive comments, as we have worked night & some time all day as well cheers bud your help is needed. Sorry if I wasn't clear. I meant that if you want to make the body armor accurate to what british troops actually wear, then I could help you with new normal maps and getting them working. I wasn't thinking that I'd make the actual vest textures. I suppose I could give it a go with proper reference pics. -
Importing Counter-Strike models?
ebud replied to FilPedro's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I'm may have just had an old version. I'm not slamming Jackal at all or anything. They may now all have good lods for all I know. I know how hard it is to make sure all lods are to make and the sheer amount of weapons in the pack is huge, so I'm impressed if they all have good, accurate and working lods. If not, then 300 or so weapons without proper lods is worthless to me no matter how nice they are. I'm in the minority here I'm sure. I'd rather have 20 or so weapons done to perfection than 300 with 1st lod and pilot lod done very well, but the rest of the lods done only partially. I'm sure Jackal is painfully aware of this and will have a good solution Sorry if this is steering the topic off course. -
Importing Counter-Strike models?
ebud replied to FilPedro's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
True, but they'll hog much more resources as well. At least the BIS weapons are made and balanced as far as polycount and number and size of textures. For me they are the perfect balance of performance vs quality. Also unless things have changed since the last SJB release, lack of good or any lods in many models for me were a major issue. -
My new Desert & DPM Troops
ebud replied to G_H_Play_AKA_BOSS's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
If you'd rather retexture the vests and use different normal maps so that they are not interceptors, I could help you out if you like. It would add some more size to the pbo, but from the looks of these units it might be worth the extra trouble They look great so far. -
First post updated. I removed the required addons, removed the missions, etc. If I could just get some help looking at each unit to make sure they don't crash ARMA and they have the correct ammo amounts I would appreciate it. *EDIT* Also there is no sense in updating mirrors with this one until the final is released.

Then why add the ladder? It serves little to no purpose as it is.
