ArmA 2 50% off this weekend on Steam.

I so freakishly happy that my Visa card arrived yesterday, since my PayPal account is drained and I never would of had time to top it up to take advantage of this deal otherwise

    How old are Arma2 Players?

21 right now, 22 in about two weeks
  3. ooh, sounds very interested. especially the PEQ/Flashlight part. I guess BI don't want to be any worse than Codemaster now that we know they have it in OFPDR ;) Good to hear there will probably be a Gold Edition as well. that's what I'll be buying, since I haven't gotten around to buying A2 just yet, and with the announcement of OA I feel like I might as well wait for this, and hopefully another A2 patch will be out by then
  4. aah, I was so close to finally buying Arma 2 now I feel that I might as well wait for some kind of Gold Edition with both A2 and OA
  5. Steam as a distribution platform is awesome, but the pricing model for Europe is the worst I have ever seen. Let's take Arma 2 as an example Sweden store price = 329SEK = $41 = €29 Steam price = €48 = $66 = 530SEK so the game is much more expensive than in stores. the fact that I don't need the disc hardly makes up for the big difference. and it's not like I can't afford to pay €48, but if I buy these ridiculously priced games on Steam, I just enable the publishers. they see that they can still sell overpriced games, and they will never adjust the price to more normal levels. something else about Steam. EU laws clearly state that a citizen of EU country A (Sweden) should be able to buy from the store of any other EU Country (say the UK). but Steam users can't buy games from the UK stores, which have lower prices than the rest of Europe. so they are in fact breaking EU laws, but no one seems to care about it.
  6. seriosuly, game is still out of stock all over Sweden did it sell far above expectations, or did 505 just forget about sending the discs to Scandinavia?
  7. They make good points. I probably would give it slightly higher overall score
  8. ARMA 2 got 83% score from PC Gamer Sweden (and I think PCG UK since they used the same text (translated). Pros: Vivid and alive world Feeling of accomplishment when you do something right Map/Mission Editor Multiplayer Cons: Shoddy and inconsistent AI System hog all in all it was a good review. They explained features, and really got the message across that there is no other game like it out there. Unfortunately the bugs and often retarded AI can mess up the experience. They complained about the unnecessarily complicated control interface. I think it it was pretty much spot on.
  9. so I noticed, they updated their product page yesterday.... but it has to be a mistake... I mean, it can't possibly take so long for them to get their batch of games?

    MG's blowing up tanks?

the problem with the hitpoint system isn't that it takes a couple of thousand rounds to destroy a healthy MBT. that's just too unplausable to happen in actual gameplay, so it's a non-issue. It's when something else attacks the MBT first, but doesn't quite destroy it (another tank, AT soldier, Hydra rockets et.c). Then someone with a light machine gun comes and shoot maybe a couple of hundred rounds and it blows up

    ArmA II is #1!

I think it's a little too early for a game like ARMA to reach a million.
  12. I usually go to Third Person when proning behind tall grass. You can shoot at the enemy using your fairly accurate crosshairs

    ArmA 2 Demo feedback

same happened to me, or, well, the OPFOR AI ran in front of me and the instructor, started shooting. Instructor hit the dirt, I brought out my M16 and popped the enemy. Another OPFOR AI was moving across the tree line in front so I killed him as well. finished AT training, and went to MOUT with two less enemies to kill.

  15. nice test, certainly looks like the behave realistically Can you shoot suppressed weapons with realistic reactions? The sonic crack should make them take cover, but they shouldn't be able to pinpoint you very easily. I'd try it myself, but I don't have the game and I just uninstalled the demo
