Thanks for the support guys and thanks a lot Foxhound :) No, I haven't...yet. There are already a few available on armaholic and they're all pretty nice so... Well actually that's exactly what I did. I don't know why only the template mission is hosted on armaholic and not the addon pack. I'm going to contact Foxhound to see if the addon pack can be hosted too :) I don't know for Takistan but Tchernarus sure isn't flat outside the map borders. -

V2.0 released :) (see first post) It didn't get any smaller :p -
As some of you might know it's already possible to link VBS2 with Steel Beast (for example) using HLA/DIS gateway video showcasing VBS2 and the Helicopter Collective Aircrew Tactical Trainer : eK7Dta7-Nxo Would you like to see this implemented in the ArmA serie ? Would lyou like to see the devs invest their time and money into this features (at the price of others) I'm not saying this should be done for ArmA 3. I'm just asking if, in the future, you would like to see more cooperation between the -relatively- important studios of the simulation genre. Same poll on Eagle Dynamics forum : here

that'd be too good to be true, lol. I couldn't get in touch with Opteryx, he is probably somewhere on a Hawaian beach with 2 swedish b!tch3s, you know...Living the life in the real world (this guys's crazy). So you will have to download Opteryx'buildings. But that's all ! And I'm also going to provide a new link for the Nevada map. The one in the first post is down... -
US Coast Guard HH-60J Jayhawk by Yura Petrov
Macadam Cow replied to yurapetrov's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Hello, Actually this mission wasn't intended to be released as is. I made it to show Yurapetrov the modification I made on the winch script. To avoid the crew chief constantly moving back and forth just switch to him (you have to make him playable) then switch back to the pilot. From what I've heard the strobe light script (made by combate tactico) isn't working with the 1.60 patch. It also needs light particles or something like that from WarFX, that's why you get those error messages (except the "(...)/upperpanel_nohq.paa". not my fault this one :p) To remove the script just delete the NavLights folder in the mission folder and those lines from the init.sqf #include "NavLights\scripts\functions.sqf" [heli, "SH602"] call setNl; [h2, "SH60"] call setNl; [h3, "AH1"] call setNl; [h4, "CH47"] call setNl; [h5, "A10"] call setNl; [h6, "C130"] call setNl; remove also this line from the initialisation field of the chopper : _nul = [this] execVM "NavLights\scripts\actions.sqf" -

Thanks Gnat ! @FatalError unfortunately nothing I can do about AGS industrial buildings, but they're aren't in the next version. It shoud be released soon, got some problem with my internet so I can't upload the package right now. Good news is permission was granted to include all the addons into one single package so this kind of problem won't happen anymore. -
Linking ArmA 3 with DCS/Combat Helo/Steal Beast
Macadam Cow replied to Macadam Cow's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Well the ArmA map could be just one part of the DCS map. It's not like we were stucked in a 5x5Km square. 400Km² is a really nice playground for us and a comfortable AO for the DCS players. Also I don't understand why people are focusing on the PvP aspect. When I think about linking DCS with ArmA I mainly think about cooperation opportunities. The PvP level for DCS player would be other DCS players, same with ArmA. Of course it'd be nice once in awhile to hop in a Tunguska but even there I don't see where's the problem. Long range SAM use radar to spot their targets, not human eyes. So as long as the aircraft appears on the radar it doesn't matter if you can see it or not. -
Blackhawks by YuraPetrov
Macadam Cow replied to yurapetrov's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Outstanding work Yura ! Just one small detail : the wheels. Your wheels are "flat" While they are like this on a real Blackhawk (but I guess you know that): I don't know if it was intended, your seahawks/jayhawk have the good model but I remember those wheels are on your blackhawks since you start making them (=few years ago :P) Anyway, keep it up and thanks for sharing those with us ! -

Hello, which one exactly, don't see any problem on my end  The V2.0 should be out soon, just need to get in touch with the authors of the addons I'm using to see if I can make a package so you guys don't have to download them separately It's different from the one on Aoraki. I might also release that one but I'll need some time. This version is less "messy", I've reduced the number of lights, added the Hardened Shelter and well...basicly change the airport's layout. I think this one is closer from the reality -
Linking ArmA 3 with DCS/Combat Helo/Steal Beast

Linking ArmA 3 with DCS/Combat Helo/Steal Beast
Macadam Cow replied to Macadam Cow's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I understand that but you could imagine the devs would somehow force the players to buy the other game in order to enjoy the "ultimate battlefield experience". Not because it's needed but for the business. I've posted this on the ED forums but I don't know if you go there frequently so I'm also posting it here : Could you explain what makes DCS so different from Steal Beast that it would require the "workaround" you've suggested ? Isn't it the whole purpose of LVC Game to "translate" the received information into something the other software can read ? Using the RV engine to render the outside view of DCS would be a serious drawback. It isn't really made to handle the specific needs of a flight sim (view distance,...) I have little to no knowledge of these things but from what I understand the workload isn't exactly split in half between the 2 softwares. From the little sketch I've posted in the first post it looks like LVC game relies more on one engine and the other software is "simply" plugged into this. I think it's safe to assume ArmA could "easily" replace VBS in this sketch but why DCS couldn't replace Steal Beast as easily ? Why would this create DCS approximation of an ArmA map while it doesn't occur with VBS+Steel beast ? Don't want to bother you but if you have some time I'd be glad to learn a lil bit more Yes but it's not because a game supports this system that it can automaticaly be linked to another one. I think they need to share a "common ground" (= same map, knowing which model from game A will use which model from game B,...) -
Linking ArmA 3 with DCS/Combat Helo/Steal Beast
Macadam Cow replied to Macadam Cow's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Well he's not wrong. It will divide the MP community between those who owns both game (I think this should be required, from an economical standpoint) and those who don't. But basicaly this happens with every expansion/DLC, so nothing new here. Also, unlike an expansion/DLC, this would actually attract new players. -

I'm sorry for my stupidity PuFu, I hope one day I'll be as smart as you are. Anyway, and this might come as a big shock for you, some people don't want to see this happening, at least not now. Since you've admitted you've trolled this poll, and might not be the only one, let's just take the results from the ED forums, where usually old members do not troll polls... There, 25 peoples out of 75 have voted "no", some took the time to explain why. And as I said in the third post of this thread -but I'm going to repeat it anyway since it seems really hard for you to get it- they would prefer to see the ressources allocated elsewhere. EDIT : video showcasing VBS2 and the Helicopter Collective Aircrew Tactical Trainer : eK7Dta7-Nxo -
The trouble with getting people into Arma
Macadam Cow replied to instagoat's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
What you said about the flight model reminds me GTA San Andreas where cars and bikes were easier to drive the more you used them. Even if in itself you still sucked at driving, crashing into a wall/tree/car every 10 meters, the handling became easier after a while. It'd be nice, yes, but again I'd rather see the opportunity to improve my skills than my character skills. Let me take an example : You start the campaign at boot camp. There you go through basic training teaching you the fundamentals to properly play the game (movement, weapons handling, scuba diving,...). This training would be mandatory but you would have the opportunity to follow optionnal, in-depth, specific trainings. Let's say for example there's a bomb defusing feature. You'd see that quickly (one kind of bomb) in the basic training but on the side you could go through the "bomb defusing training". There you'd see more type of bombs with different fuses, how to use robots, etc. This would be completely optional, you could just follow the basic training and directly start the campaign but then soon or late you'd face a bomb you've never learned how to defuse. You could imagine as many specific trainings as you want : "sniper", "bomb defusing", "Forward air controller", "radio operator",... I know this is not going to happen anytime soon, this would require the game to be a lot more complex (probably along the lines of the ACE mod) but this is what comes to my mind when we talk about "training= improving your skills". I wouldn't mind a system like yours but it should remain for the campaign only, I wouldn't want to see that associate with some sort of MP profile. -
The trouble with getting people into Arma
Macadam Cow replied to instagoat's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
IIRC this was already suggested by someone else. I have nothing against training having a positive effect on the AI (I even like this idea a lot !), however this : is a no go for me. In my opinion, training should teach you the game's mechanics, not unlock some stuff. Let's just take the example of DCS:A10C. There's a bunch of training mission in DCS, ranging from HOTAS fundamentals to start-up procedures and weapons employment. Now those training don't unlock anything, they don't allow you to start the engines up more quickly. They're just there for you to learn. And if after those training you can start up more quickly or fire a weapon more effectivly it's not because the game allows you to do so but because you've earned some real experience. This is what I like with ArmA, if you get better it's because you're more experienced, it's because you can handle the game's mechanics better, not because you've done this, killed xx numbers of enemies, spent xx ours flying and then automaticaly the game unlocks this or make that easier for you . -
