very nice to see others working on new larger islands gj. keep up the good work,i know its a long project to complete such large islands with such a small number of people. me and a couple of mates are also working on a new custom built island based on real terrain data from iraq,a lrg real life island. main island is about 90km end too end and is roughly 4x the size of sahrani,it also has 3 smaller islands that are about 8km each, a good amount of ocean so the ships/subs ect currently being made can be used. The scale of these new islands is going to blow people away! on our island it takes a good 10mins to go end too end in the the harrier at full speed Expect an offical announcement very soon,we just wanted to perfect the terrian and get it the way we wanted it before making any anouncements. although the island is ingame and working we are also just waiting for visitor3 to be released to complete it. sorry for the slight thread hijack BiGGiBs

Nice surprise,downloading:) Thanks for all your hard work and time we evolution players know you have put into improving this mission over the last few months. Realy do appreciate the time and effort it must take to work on this night after night...fantastic job. Look forward to having a play test online soon! BiGGiBs.

Thank you for this,it's like a trip down memory lane. and thx for your tutorial on the PMC forums got me past that final step i was having trouble with. Just a basic terrain with all objects stripped atm,not sure what to do climate wise yet! I have to agree with wamingo on this,once you get a skilled player and points junkie playing say for example in the cobra. If your playing as infantry the mission can realy get rather linear,within 2 mins of arriving at a town the cobra has taken out all the shilkas,t72s,bmp's,brds,uaz's then they are free to sit hovvering over the town taking out the ai squads...so unless you arrive at the town within the first few minutes you are left to basicly find the few remaining troops that are in the hard to find parts of the towns...meanwhile the cobras off clearing the next town so your constanly playing catchup. Also makes it very hard to make any points yourself if  your a ground pounder,used to be realy fun getting into the middle of a town and hearing some armour & having to manouver yourself into possion to get a clean rear shot on a T72 ect,made the towns alot more fun/dangerous to be in. Don't know what to suggest to help with this appart from half the squads in each town having a strela soldier in their groups I have nothing against people that want to use the helis, and good CAS is great. for me personaly the goal of getting points is to gain rank so i can have a variety of options open to me...so i can use anything i take a fancy to using...but i never want to use any one thing exclusivly for more than 40 mins max. Once im at max rank i couldn't care if i didn't make another point for the rest of the game. for some it seems to get max points reguardless of the cost of the gameplay/gameing experince to the rest of the players on the server. i have seen the same person make use of the cobras from cayo all the way to the end in pita...even used his ai to fly the 2nd cobra and then another ai in the a10! Maybe fun for the pilot but makes the mission for the rest of the players a race to get to the town bofore everything is wiped out. Hopefully something can be done to balance it a bit more so its fun the heli pilots still and the little guys on the ground. BiGGiBs -

great work will go well with the other desert skinned stuff. feedback. Just wondering for the next version do you think you could try making the paintwork look a bit more dirty or warn? just looks a bit clean atm,like it's just rolled out of the paint shop! Anyone else think so? BiGGiBs

yes 2 ctd's here with 505 version running the beta 1.07 crashed after 30 secs too 1min while flying the planes a10,av8 didn't ctd when i was flying a LB but might have been lucky. But the pilots out there are going to like this map Seems realy vast! BiGGiBs -

aaaaargh this is driving me nuts. whatever key settings i try i cannot copy cam cordinates to clipboard or my camera.sqs while in the editor i have tried left clicking,hitting crtl and holding ctrl and left clicking & vice versa. Whats going on? can anyone shed any light on why this isn't working for me? I have treid restoring my controls to default...no joy! my fire button is currenty set as primary mouse & left ctrl i have tried setting it to other keys too. nothing works when i alt tab there is nothing to paste into my camera.sqs & clipboard.txt remains empty! Annoying as my camera is working when i preview,i just want to adjust its possion above the ground realy starting to piss me off! BiGGiBs

Thanks for the link Balschoiw opec site is a great resource,already have that tut saved as a txt doc and several others from opec's site,all very usefull. But i'm using another tutorial as i want my camera tracking a target with 'camsettarget' command and that tut above doesn't mention how to do that i think. Anyway issue is resolved. was a noob error on my part,plus it was late and i was tired. I had already added some code for my camera too my camera.sqs so dummy cam with the xhair in the editor you use to get cordiantes wasn't loading when i previewed. when i previewed it was using the existing code in the camera.sqs so wasn't picking up my left clicks. I didn't know it was only the dummycam with xhair that would allow you to grab the cordinates,another lesson learned.:) leave your camera.sqs empty,use the editor xhair cam to get all your cordinates 'first' before you start inserting the code into the camera.sqs BiGGiBs

Can't wait to test 1hr 20min wait though I only have a 512 connection,thats what you get for living out in the countryside. Can anyone who has already tried it confirm a fps increase with this beta patch? as i've read that the offical US 1.06 version is supposed to be beter fps wise. anyway good job & thx BI. BiGGiBs

Arma causing sound problems outisde of the game?

I've had similar problems with sound. When i try and use Teamspeak all is ok while on my desktop but as soon as i launch arma my mic gets disabled,can't transmit or hear others in ts. the transmit light dosn't light up in ts and even if i exit arma i have to run the voice/test hardware app in control panel to get mic working again...all other games i play and use ts with are fine,never had this sort of problem before. Btw im also using a AC97 onboard soundcard. using the ac97 mainly because i can use the frontpanel audio,as my creative SB didn't have that option plus 'windowz' doesn't seem to dectect my SB at all anymore -

Btw i do think that a ban list is of some sort is a good idea We need some way of keeping the deliberate TK'ers from spoiling such a great game the the rest. @celery & Rambo I don't use any custom files...only thing i use is the beta patch also might have got the message slightly wrong..'kicked off the game' not server! that happens as soon as double click on one of the 2 servers i'm talking about Also i have heard people saying lock the server while ingame...could that be the reason i can't join them?,locked the server...and is it possible to you tell if a server is locked from the server browser? update..checked the ban.txt and my id isn't listed. Hi Just like to butt in here and ask is there a way for a player to lookup and find out his own ID? To lookup and see if it's been added to the global ban list. Reason i ask is i've ben getting the  'you were kicked from the server' message from one UK server for the last week. And now i'm finding another one of my fav uk servers is giving the same message. Not sure if that message even means that my id has been banned or not?...would be nice if the server left a clearer message about why i was kicked...or if i am banned then state that at least so i know! I have a feeling someone is abusing this feature and banning me for no good reason I have never TK'd deliberatly,and would never spoil anyones enjoyment of a game,i have never abused anyone...i'm always helpfull if someone asks for help of any sort and seeing as i love arma and have a legit copy i would soon see myself unable to play at all if i did. Is rather annoying as there a very few fast Uk servers as it is! fair enough if one server host doesn't like me or something for some reason...but if hes used that to put my id on the ban list...well thats totaly out of order! Just tried running 1.2 in lan mode and took one of the side missions. AMB/LPAT mission and it completed as soon as i exited the mission hut,went back in and took the same one and again it completed almost instantly Seems like it maybe all side missions are doing it just tried LPAT...same thing! update seems its only some missions that are doing it...last mission in the list hunt the downed pilots? seemed ok also got some error code thrown up on screen when i reached 100points was only there for a few seconds but something to do with error in line 136 or there abouts of an sqs or somemthing like that -

What can i say. just loving this mission online,totaly addicted to it! Getting lots of possative comments about it on the server i play on too. I played from the start too the finnish lastnight,6hrs plus to complete and what fun with some good team players to work with. Thanks for all your hard work and the new 1.2 updated version looking forward to trying it soon! BiGGiBs -
hehe,what team leader? when the mission started the others all get into a 4x4 with no room left for me so i presumed that it was solo mission? Also im sure the guy told me too 'meet' him at that map refrence point once i'd stolen the supply truck? plus when i arrived at the meeting point the others aren't there,i did try speeding up time but they still didn't show!

yeah i got the message not to bother going to the base and head for the south of that town and the roadblock mentioned and took the middle truck,was the only one with stigers onboard. headed across country after that,avoiding the roads.

As the title says i'm unable to bind any controls to the right control key,doesn't appear to be listed in the controls list at all. As i play all my fps games using the cursor keys the right ctrl is usualy my crouch key in other fps games,not the end of the world i know but i'm sure other who use the cursor keys are missing not being able to use it. i did search for the awnser to this on the forums but didn't see it being mentioned buy anybody else. It might be intentional but can't think why? BiGGiBs

Enjoyable mini campaign. Realy enoyed the 2nd mission. I took the snipers rifle and headed too tibria killing everyone appart from the driver of the m113,then moved to the outskirts of cayo and took out most of the troops and mg nests. Then i went into cayo taking out a the last few soldiers & stole 1 of the cobras and went on the rampage taking out the humvee's,strykers and the 2 m1a1's,ended up chasing down the littlebird and shooting that down before the mission ended I noticed some things you might like to look at fixing! some of the enemy are carring us weapons m4's ect while others seem to be using ak's,might be intentional but seems odd! And i'm also stuck on the risky raid mission,i stole the supply truck no problem then headed for the meeting point at fd65 across country and ran into a stryker but it didn't attack me although i was only 30 yards away from it,so got out of the supply truck and grabbed an AT launcher and blew it up,driver and gunner bailed after the first hit & died when the stryker exploded Arrived at fd65 meeting point with the supply truck intact but mission deosn't want to end for some reason? Hope you carry on working on this,it's a blast! BiGGiBs

Hi Here's a tip for people having fps,missing sound issues, and use an onboard soundcard (nforce asus mobo with ac97 sound in my case) Try turning off your sound hardware acceleration 'ingame' Note.i had to close the game and restart it for the change to take effect. After just buying Arma and trying MP i was having terrible trouble with some sounds (vehicles,radio messages,choppers) not playing Plus realy low framerates (5 fps at most),but only in mp! basicly game was unplayable. In sp missions,campaign sound and framerate are fine. I have an asus a8n5x nforce 4 mobo and i'm using the onboard ac97 sound. Asking a few people ingame about it didn't help i got the usual crap of get a legal copy and FADE awnsers.:rolleyes: So i tried turning the graphics settings down too medium without any luck. I then tried turning the sound hardware acceleration off 'ingame' and it didn't help at all. But after closing the game and restarting 'BAM' decent framerates and alot more sounds working. & i was able to set my video settings back to most things on high Sorry i don't have any numbers for you framerates wise but i was ingame and was too enthrawled at having a playable game again to check but the change in framerate differance was like night & day! Hope soemone else will find this usefull BiGGiBs p.s. if my sys specs,drivers and dxdiag will help i'll happily post them,just send a pm if needed but for now i'm going back to play some more mp arma:D
