    Taliban unit in OA feasible?

    Anyone looking like talibans can be used as talibans imo. The units weve seen in OA look very similar (to my limited knowledge anyway) even though they arent called taliban in the editor. :)
  2. -exThreads=3 (70313) quad core cpu. This seems to give best performance for me as well. Not very noticeable on the ground, but when i flew it was very smooth. Not very high altitude i might add so it makes it even better.

  5. Tested to fly the other day and i blacked out when i flew straight. Think its a wee bit sensitive as pilots can pull rather much G's without blacking out. Maybe it was the mission messing with it though or did anyone else notice it? Just came to my mind as im at work. Will check DH when i get home. :) And thanks ACE team for the steady flow of updates. ARMA do rock hard now with the patches and ACE. Havent had much time to play in a while but i got reminded how awesome it is with this mod and the best game on the planet. Total uber-ness.

    Could be better but its "alright". Not my biggest issues in the world tbh. People have no home or food and we bother our minds with these kind of things lol. :)

    video card for arma

    Yep. better go with the 200 series or higher if you can. Im pretty happy with my 275 but the grass and some other veggies can still kill this card if too much of it on screen. Even on normal. SAP clutter helps a lot wich is an addon to make it less but still look good. In general however im quite happy with it and the jump from 8800 is quite big as i had made that change myself. Much more power with the 275 compared to any 8800 is what i mean. :)

    Is arma ... fun?

    Thinking of ARMA and with equally skilled players it will be hard for the solo-man. If they are all about the same skill then there will be "rambos" in a group vs one single rambo. The well oiled team can split up for example and move in on the solo-man's location from 2 directions and they communicate where more minds bringing fresh tactics ideas on the move. Speaks for itself who's drawn the shorter straw here. But hey, we can all get lucky. :) However discussing this serves no real purpose since we all have different ideas of whats best. And when we have our minds set its usually hard to change that, and thus the discussion goes on and on and on, and finally tears break out when infractions are given cause someone lost his/hers temper. :D A fitting final word could be that in ARMA you can play so many different roles, scenarios and situations that in some of them ramboing could be better, but for the most part good teamwork should get you further. Remember in this game you can create any type of missions so there is room for both, and some!

    New Beta build 70184 is up!

    It does sounds like somethings wrong on your end. Never saw such a big difference in the betas. Are you sure you start the beta's properly? I remember i had the same problem like you at some point in time and it was me starting it wrong. Do you start the "launch arma2 beta" shortcut? And do you have the startup parameter in that shortcut "-mod=beta"?
  11. Like CG says the wavy effect is when you get tired from running too much - not FADE. Blurry screen is either due to post processing effects set to HIGH or 3D resolution set below 100% - wich it is if ARMA2 decides your computer isnt up to spec at the resolution that is set. solution: Turn off (very low) post processing effects (video settings), and set the 3D resolution to match your resolution wich means 100% (also in video settings). Mods & addons do not cause FADE (wich isnt about getting a wavy screen btw) unless you "mod" the ARMA2.EXE wich will most definatelly activate the games protection.

    ARMA 2 PvP. Is it still out there?

    No one mentioned ARMA2 PR (Project Reality). PR will not be small PvP games probably but still PvP with realism in mind where 2 (or more?) teams battling it out. They had a thread here but stopped and all new info is now on their website and there are some juicy screenshots of their work so far wich is UK vs Taliban/Insurgents, new vehicles & weapons, new island (Afghanistan) and i think new ways of playing it like new features and functions. Maybe this isnt what OP was after, but its about PvP so cant hurt right. :)
  13. Im running KH's and i never encountered that problem. Also check if there is a new version of YAS (red version number showing top of program) even though i dont think thats the problem. And this is the wrong place to post this in (complete mods & addons) so ask in the YAS or ACE thread. Closing
  14. Doesnt 1.05 remove the need of disc? The beta's do however. Using no DVD files from somewhere wont be very good for you. Test the latest beta: http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php It installs as a separate launch icon so you have the 1.05 left untouched.

    Im sure no one but BIS knows when the demo is to be released. And please use the OA thread for OA questions for now. When the demo is out we could probably make a thread for it discussing how great it is. ;) Closing.
  16. 1 core for AI and 1 for the rest of the game. The other 2 are good to have for the system (OS) wich gives 2 dedicated cores to ARMA2 to work with. IIRC this is how it works with this game. Correct me if im wrong.
  17. You design your missions as you want them. You can set an aircraft to go to any height. Maybe you missed this though but its been in these series since OFP. And again to the rest of the complaints please remind yourself its a Work In Progress copy.
  18. We wanted VBS2 features and we got them. Some of them are even improved over VBS2. Making speech sound perfect with this amount of frases is really really hard. I know because i worked with sounds for many years professionaly. The engine is improved. There are optimizations to performance. There are new sounds and improved sound engine. There are new islands, units, vehicles and a lot of other things. My point is that its hard for me to complain knowing whats going into this "expansion". Not to mention its hard to complain and base an opinion from WIP code where im sure many reviewers doesnt even know the game we do, and therefor we dont see all that is there. Even though im as eager as the next guy i say lets chill a bit and lets be happy we are actually seeing more coming out from the best game devs in history. :) Thats right - they could have stopped at ARMA2.

Meaning you create a topic here when you release a mod/addon, and you then ask/discuss in those respective threads. So please use the search button to find what your looking for (try "japan" maybe).
  20. Everything seen probably wont be changed but im sure there are improvements over the WIP code. I draw that conclusion from that it is in fact WIP code. ;)

  23. Improving/fixing the game we baught is one thing, but to say that they should create brand new content for many hours of work and give it to us for free sounds a bit off tbh. However i dont know how BIS will do this. We will see when the time comes.
  24. spetz1: Did you test what i wrote in your other thread? Location: X:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ARMA2\userconfig\ACE\ace_clientside_config.hpp Open that file with notepad and scroll down to almost bottom where you find this: 2=constant show (original setting), 1=mousewheel to show, 0=spacebar to show. So option 0 or 1 should be what your looking for. Test and see.

It is the world's massivness that just amazes me. Something for you to kill some time with and also get a bit blown away by a big game world... It's a space game that is 1 year from alpha (as i understand it). And people will be able to fly around and explore space, land on any planet (it is so massive - this is what amazes me). And you can fight others if you want etc etc. Take a look at the small tech demo video and then check screens on the site. You thaught ArmA had a big streaming (non-loading) world? Dont take your eyes off the video until it ends...
