Which Mod Would You Eat If You Were Stranded?
Albert Schweitzer replied to adumb's topic in OFFTOPIC
If I'd be stranded with all Moderators and that probably for a long time, then I'd probably eat myself! Â Otherwise I would choose Raedor. Due to our relatively healthy lifestyle in germany (Reinheitsgebot, Eco-stores etc) I could be sure his meat is not full of pollutants. -
Tovarish, thanks for adding ISO and shutter speed, this will accelerate my learning process. I received my Nikon D40 yesterday and try to work things out. I am just trying to sort out how to manually change the shutter speed. Can anyone explain to me what this "F-number" is, that Tovarish is mentioning.

If that happens then the mistake was made beforhand. The convoy chose the wrong route and didnt do their reconnaissance / advance guard properly. Also, most videos of Iraq show IED detonations on open suburb streets and not in thin narrow downtown. But if you want to go into depth: http://de.geocities.com/lastdingo/convoy.rtf Anyhow, the german Luchs has two drivers, one in the front, the other in the back and can drive like that with the same max speed. Â This reduces the risk of being trapped in the line of fire. But the initial idea was something totally different. The luchs was made for reconaissance. Also, the Luchs model is outdated and is in the process of being replaced.

those were realy awesome pictures from Daddl and I am so goddamn happy that I get my new camera tomorrow (hopefully it will arrive then!.
-
ArmA unfortunately is made for this "shit", sooner or later a silly teen would just have to get the stupid idea!
-
Daddl, those photos are realy great. Â But I guess it is easy to take nice pictures if the landscape is already beautyful enough without having to manipulate the camera settings! Â Did you change the shutter speed for the photo of the waterfall?

VBS1 for the Coalition, ArmA for the insurgents sooner or later it had to happen! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CapKNUhQ5D4 First it was the Microsoft Flight Simulator and now it is ArmA. I knew it, sooner or later the insurgents would find out about the potential of ArmA and use it for propaganda, training and mission planning. ... Which of you puberty freaks put that on Youtube?

comment moved - I am not even arguing anymore -

yes, unfortunately thats the case for anybody else is thinking about buying a new camera, please have a look at http://www.dpreview.com/ it is very detailed and helpful for the rest of you who likes to take photos during adventure tours have a look at this. I read about it in a magazine (in one of the four thousand I bought to get a good market overview). It is a latex cover which is/will be available for the most common models. Camera Armour you can buy it at amazon for example http://www.amazon.com/s....20Armor

there is basically an easy choice to take. I either get the (better) Cannon 400 and pay a 100 Euro more, but then safe some bucks on lenses, or I buy the good Nikon D40, which unfortunately only works with AF lenses. But since I am not intending to buy any additional lenses for now this if fine. besides, everyone has Canon! But I am a beginner so I dont want to start with a material overkill. I will try the Nikon and in two years time I will see whether I upgrade. Anyhow you are right, it is probably better to simply ask questions via PM rather than turning this thread into a bureaucratic monster.
-
the big question is, will there be enough server running this?
-
Hi all, I am following this thread now since quite a while and it is one of the few threads that makes me come back to this forum. I even decided to buy the Nikon D40 in order to start contributing. However, please give us beginners a chance to catch up. My suggestion is the following: Edit the first post of this thread and add the cameras people are using. Also, when you take a photo, let us know what ISO (and other settings) you were using. What do you think?
-
I am thinking of buying either the Cannon Powershot G7 or the Powershot S3, what do you think? I got the money but I can decide right now what to take. I am open for other alternatives! (but price wise dont go higher than the G7 Â please)

Demo Troubleshooting thread.
Albert Schweitzer replied to blix2006's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
If your computer truly says it's got 2024 MB of RAM, you'd better replace your memory banks. It should be either 1024 or 2048, not 2024. no, I was trying multiskilling (posting while working) and I failed and did a mistake, so what?! Â The question I am asking myself is, could I play the game in single player untill an appropriate patch is being published. After all I can see a "mission" in the background running during the start-options screen. So the engine seems to run, the problem rather has to do with multiplayer I guess. -

Start screen - ok Choosing Multiplayer - ok Choosing Mission - ok Loading screen mission - ok After loading screen - CTD x2 4200 7900 GTX 2048 MB RAM DFI Motherboard Newest drivers installed as well as DirectX. Disabling a kernel didnt change that either. -
Sprocket Troubleshooting thread.
Albert Schweitzer replied to XJ220's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Demo wont run on my PC. I got the newest drivers, DirectX etc. Choosing a mission and initialising it works fine, but after the loading screen I end up with a CTD. I tried disabling the Nvidia network card but that doesnt change anything. Will I have the same problem with the full version, can I at least play singleplayer? Kind of anoys me cause I think it is time now for me to realy switch to ArmA. AND I FINALLY WOULD HAVE SOME TIME TO PLAY GODDAMNIT! -
nothing more to say.

Looking at the comments made at amazon Germany about Armed Assault see link (hope it works) I get the impression that many of them stem from rather biased people. Maybe it is just me who is very sceptical about "anonymous" comments on the internet, but I realy believe there is more to it than just expressing dissapointment about a product. Most of the posters who made a negative statement are "new" to amazon and never made a comment before about any other product. Furthermore giving only one star as a rating is totally inobjective and probably aims to heavily reduce the overall rating of the game. Also, some of the points made indicate that the person actually never played the game and just works with polarising negative hearsay. No, I am not implicating a new conspiracy theory by Codemasters but it is a bit strange! I know that some battlefield kiddies may see Armed Assault in a competitive light and in their puberty hormon overdose may feel motivated to write something stupid. But why are so many incorrect and unfair comments. Any guesses?
-
Anoy - Roger, got it! Could be, but you dont have to actually buy a product at Amazon to be able to rate it! Thats the lame thing! So anyone can leave a comment! And most of the negative comments dont show much knowledge of the game itself. Reading it made me believe that the negative comments stem from people who never played it. But then why doing the effort to rate and write a review? I know, thats pure speculation. I just noticed it because other games arent a victim of such polarisation. But maybe this game is made to polarise!
-
Certainly, a comments section is polarising. However looking at comparable games ArmA's ratings are extreme. I just noticed that because I love to read comments on Amazon and I think I have a pretty good overview on how people generally rate at Amazon.de . Arma drops out of this general frame! BTW: Good to see you are still here Llauma. Time for another Multiplayer session. I will be moving to Frankfurt for a month, but I believe I got DSL over there. Let me know when you people plan to go Coop!

More Photos Surface in Widening German Skull Scand
Albert Schweitzer replied to -MP-OFP-CRICON's topic in OFFTOPIC
I dont have to add much since most has already been said. But what I find rather amusing is that for germany soldiers are always a bit embarassing. You dont realy talk much about them, media coverage is relatively low and praise is non existant. And then this incident with skulls. Sudenly all the media jump on the story. Honestly, even if I condemn what they did and would never get such a stupid idea myself.. but if this is the worst of the worst of them do then hell we should be happy! -
simple statistic Senna won three times the world cup and 41 victories Schumacher won it seven times and 91 victories. If you would deduct most of the questionable cases you would still see him ahead. And dont forget, for all the incidents such as the Silverstone 1994, Spa 1994, Villeneuve 1997,Coulthard 1998, Team order 2002 and Rascasse 2006 he was either punished alone or went out as the looser. So please dont be so silly to tell me he won be cheating. Thats just ridiculous and if you dont elaborate your argumentation a little better than  well then you are indeed (i dont like to say it ) a sore looser. If Schumacher was would be such a psychological demon then I am suprised to see him being such a big family man. And btw. Senna holds absolutely zero record against Schumacher. Just because he is a man of the golden old days doesnt automatically make him the biggest legend!
