well actually the battle is not realy essential for my story. I thought it would be fine for a popcorn trailer though . it is about a guy who helps a dictator back to power. Â But I totally agree, I like the non-battle athmospherics much more and thats basically most of my scenes. Problem right now is that there arent enough civillian object addons available. The Latino/African style remains persistant throughout the story.

I uploaded a short trailer of my movie which I will hopefully finish sometime winter 2008. I am neither a skilled scripter nor a talented film maker so please just be happy with the results. I hope I can still improve till final release. http://www.vimeo.com/985260

okay, not a killer movie, but that was my first try recording our missions. You can watch it full-screen. I tried it and quality is somewhat okay. http://www.vimeo.com/981720

placing magazine on the ground
Albert Schweitzer posted a topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
I have just downloaded the roleplay objects. Unfortunately they are not listed in the ordinary addon list but instead the only way to get access to them is by opening an ammo crate in the mission itself. But I want to use one of the objects for a video, in other words I want to place the addon "money" on a table. I tried out to put the crate on the ground, went into mission.sqs and replaced the ID with that of the money. But that didnt work. I guess that is a very simple question for mission makers, but I am rather unskilled in this area. Any advise? -

thank you, I will try it out. As can be assumed I checked the readme, but from what is written there I could not extract the information on how to generally deal with ammo in scripts. The readme is about his addon and not a scripting guide for dummies, which unfortunately I am. Well I had some trouble with Fraps yesterday so forget about a video. But I fixed the problem so I will try to make a good video during next Tuesday's session. As far as screenshots are concerned, well what can you do during a NV mission? All greenish stuff and not realy thrilling. More to come

My philosophy Strange, I always thought the eye isnt capable to see any change from 12frames upward. If that is the case then must be the mini-lags that ruin it all, a short drop in the frame rate that programms like Fraps simply dont recognise. My personal experience is that a frame rate of 35 (in the forrest also) is the minimum where the games appears to be smooth. Â My sys Q9450 8800GTS 512 SuperSuperClocked 4 Gig Ram 1066 X38DS4 Xifi Extreme Gamer My settings are pretty conservative, I put most to high except for shader (medium) and shadows (low). Viewdistance around 2500 metres. Only with these settings I seem to get what I expect of a smooth gameplay, the compromise of these reduced settings is very limited. My questions 1. would it make sense for me to put maxmen to a certain number? 2. Would it be useful to put Nhancer to multicore[/b] 3. The standard settings of Nhancer (right click on Icon in taskbar) under optimisations sais trilinear, should I put it to Aniso Filter? 4. will I ever get rich? I mean realy rich?

wow, wait! Why the hell are you getting the GTS with 640MB?? Take the one with 500 and you have a much faster one since it is based on the G92 chip!!!!

yes, was a good gaming evening indeed. And I think we did perform quite okay. I will try to make some screenshots in the future and edit them a little just as I did with the old CIA OFP nights. This one is rather rubbish but who cares.

Out of curiousity, why is this? The X38 based boards have always seemed quite good to me (if not somewhat overpriced at times) Overpriced? the X38 DS4 is just as expensive as the P35 version. I own it and it is a goddamn great board. So far I encountered zero errors, cooling is great and the results of Futuremark benchmarks speak for themselves. X48 boards are a totally different level pricewise. If it is worth the extra bucks.. I doubt it. -
I hope I can be part of the team-nights again. I finally got my new PC which is able to properly run ArmA. I will try to get Queens Gambit till Tuesday and hope, to see some of the old faces again!

ArmA 1.8 Vista 64 Gigabyte X38 DS4 Quad 9450 4 Gig Ram 1066 EVGA 8800 GTS SuperSuper Clocked SinglePlayer the game runs smooth as hell, even with highest settings (if msconfig modified to 3 Gig Ram But multiplayer crashes after approx 10 minutes, any advise? -

buying the Q6600 can be a good idea, but think about the fact that soon (around March-April) the new quads will hit the market forcing the Q6600 to become cheaper. Instead of purchasing the e6850 think about buying the E8400! As far as the graphic card is concerned I cant say anything. Even though I believe the 800GT is currently the best solution. About Vista64, most people have both installed XP32 and Vista64 and in this case 4Gig makes perfectly sense. Buy it now cause you never know what will happen once DDR3 becomes cheaper. the P35 is definetly the best choice right now. The X38 is only a stupid transition to the X48. -

I actually think, this would turn into modern day Potemkin village. Â @Buzzard There is already something like this; although the image is projected onto the glasses instead of working like a LCD. Yes, why not. I mean take Malta for example. When tourists want to cross the Island from north to south to get to their hotel they come by a huge stinky dumpsite. Of course that is a total holiday-feeling-killer. So the tourism authority would order a 3D modelling company to develop an animated 3D version of a vivid volcano. There you have it. No more whales in the sea? No problem... bling.. there they are Palm trees to expensive and too dangerous for cars? Well cut them all and replace them with models Too many ugly fat women at the beach? Well add some digital super models? Need a dancing partner? bling... Is the night clerk to expensive for a hotel ... bling.. there you got your digital version... the police cant patrol the streets night and day? well, at least pretend you are ... bling!

Damn, think about the new business opportunities. Holy shit I need private equity NOW! Jut imagine a real estate firm wants to build a house but wont finish it in two years time from now. Nevertheless they want to use the time to already find tenants for it so they can design the appartments accordingly and get rent from the first day on. So what they do is, they design a model of this house on their PC and when you drive by the spot you see the model of the finished house instead of an ugly construction site. Just imagine the opportunities that arise if these contact lenses work in combination with geo taggable information. This is hilarious!!!!
