Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead - Linux Standalone Server 1.56 BETA
{sf} astra replied to maruk's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
Thanks for Linux Files. I know, upload of (updated) game files is a pain but using rsync helps you really out. I think we all can be glad having Linux Binaries at all and even at (or lets say around) patchday. There've been other times allready. -

Maruk? I even looked for it in your update section of arma2.com. Where do you hide it this time? :)

Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead - Linux Standalone Server 1.52 BETA UPDATED to b.71900
{sf} astra replied to maruk's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
Thought checking this board would be enough, especially because you guys were announcing each linux server this way ever since. But thanks for the link anyway, Maruk. I wouldn’t have found the download for the binary on the 4th place in your game update list (even if i'd checked arma2.com) ;) -

Arma2 dedicated server howto
{sf} astra replied to warlock2511's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
Hey, try using a regular "server.ArmA2OAProfile" BI-Wiki: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/server.armaprofile or PvPScene-Wiki: http://pvpscene.net/wiki/doku.php?id=english:configure_your_server usually "EnemyTag" should be set to zero even in Recruit Difficulty Profile. Best regards, Astra -
Is the file executable? Check the file rights been set to rwxr-xr-x ("chmod 755 server"). Greetings, Astra

Arma II Linux Server 1.04 Public Alpha
{sf} astra replied to maruk's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
Guess I need your help. Can't get the server run. I don't remember how I did it last time with Arma1, but actually I did the same things. Allready ./server starts with thousands of "... - global stringtable not found" and breaks up with the following lines: ... ... ... OS is Debian 4.0 etch, Kernel: 2.6.18-5-686-bigmem, all necessary libs seem to be present. //edit: All game files are from our VM (the download-version of ArmA2) via FTP on the same system. Deleted all *.exe and *.dll and tolower of course Your help would be highly appreciated. Regards, Astra Besides that I need to say: Finally there're the right server files. Thanks for that. -
ARMA II Patch 1.03 & Dedicated Server Released .
{sf} astra replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Every time you think, it can't get any worse; BI is showing how worse it really could get. Releasing 1.03 without serverfiiles - Great Job, BI. It’s just getting ridiculous. -
Yes, I got to say thank you, too. Runs much, much better now. Was trying almost everything. In ATT I just had two regular profiles (2D and 3D) but didn't use the game profile to force VSync off. Now, with your hind, its working and ATT is still switching between 2D and 3D automaticly. Thanks, mate :)

Radiosound + Mouse Lag Problem
{sf} astra replied to argh9R's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Exactly same problem here, argh9R - it's just a pain. This "wannabe-reality-features" since ArmA1 are just killing the game. No balance between realistic and fun like it used to be in OFP. And, I know, even if it's called simulation - it's still just a game. It seems many people forget about that. For me this and the bad sound behaviors (eax, openAL) are the worst parts of ArmA. -
I know a lot of people like this motionblur thing. Maybe its more realistic and some other arguments. But last night I almost threw up on my keyboard. And it's not because of the one or two drinks I had (ok, could has been a third one). Please let us be able to deactivate this "feature". Kind regards,

Custom faces/squad.xml - how to do it in ArmA2?
{sf} astra replied to Rebel@heart's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
Same thing here.I guess it's either the logo.paa or the call of it from the xml... :icon_neutral: -
Business as usual :D No server files = No dedi. But I read somewhere about the switch "-server" for the main executable. Maybe thats complete wrong. What time passed when ArmA1 was released until server files for Win and Linux where out? A mounth for the server.exe and 3 mounth for the Linux Binary? Can't believe they doing that all again :confused_o:
-
Have heard you can start a dedi by shortcut "C:\...\ArmA 2\arma.exe" -server But I don't know how to assign a specific config/port. Maybe same way like: "C:\...\ArmA 2\arma.exe" -server -port=2537 -config=server.cfg Next Problem would be the copy protection. So would it be necessery to have the dvd in the drive? Could be quite hard for some roots. What ever, we might figure it out this weekend

Nobody knows, Nikoo. The only thing which seems to be certain is that there's a 1.11beta out to a small amount of persons (publisher/testers) and also a BI 1.11 linux testserver online since a few weeks now. Maby Jerry will get his birthday-information-gift...
-
Oh... And I went so ballistic about it
-
Bratty (and Mr_Tea) we were talking a.o. about a Server! What’s your point by posting requirements for a client? Just so much for you guys: The assignments/task for a client and a server are a bit different And I don’t think we need to discuss the advantages of linux servers again. That's already covered in a couple of other threads. We're asking (in a matter of fact begging) for a linux-1.09, cause there was an announcement for it. It's that simple. Now, we are (hopefully) pretty close to a 1.11 (1.12, whatever) release, which would mean they've just skipped the 1.09-linux. That's quite bad for at least the half of the MP-Com. but not changeable anymore. I could imagine that a couple of guys will drive crazy when there will be no 1.11-linux-server available. Doesn’t even wanna think about it. If somebody is complaining about this unbearable situation, it is either not heard/ignored by the right person in charge or just annotated by those guys who think to criticize the patch politics of BI is annoying and impatiently crying. My favorites: Those people who are just feel the desire to tell us that everything works fine for them. It's a pain, but what can we do… I guess jerking into this thread is pretty much senseless. And for my concern, I’ll stop complaining in the future and start writing funny letters to BI (or something like that – I don’t know). On this way I might kill two birds with one stone. 1st there’s a chance of getting answers and 2nd you guys won’t get upset anymore.
-
Boon, I'm probably not equipped with that much knowledge you asked for, especially if it comes to the patch plans of Bi, but I definitely read somewhere on bistudio, that following patch will be 1.10 or even higher. But I don’t care how they call that baby. For my concern, I would be glad already if anybody of BI could finally post some statement on how far they are with a follow-up-final. It’s a pain in the ass that e.g. all arma-leagues don’t want to play 1.09 because it is named beta (besides of the fact not having a linux 1.09). Why not calling it as it is? All patches released so fare are betas. I know they won't post a date. But how about something like "We're almost done – not more than a month" or "still having problems with...whatever" - I don't know... But nothing is coming, not a single word. Not even about a Linux server which was announced to be released in early January. Come one guys, 1.09 is a really good work, fix the weapons handling, call it final and release a linux server Then you got plenty of time to do … what ever you usually do Have a nice weekend, everybody.
-
Very good call. Q found somewhere that statement: 07th of Jan. sounds pretty much like early January for me Anyway, I would be glad if they could tell a release plan for the next final (1.10 or even higher). If this is quite soon (hopefully), it would be ok for me to release a linux server then together with the final. Like it should be. Really wonder why they still put the linux server to 2nd priority. But that's another discussion. The 1.09 is an unexpected good patch. Sure, there're still some things to be fixed, e.g. the weappon handling (maybe somewhere in between 1.08 and 1.09). But we're on the right way, I guess. Greetings, Astra
