  1. @ozzbik thx for your ideas but it is a bit too much for one game - and I definitely will not reinstall it for this purpose! this install is direct evolution of my Windows XP installation so no fckng way I will loose it for any game, even if it is descendant of OFP... 😁 I will create a feedback ticket instead...

  3. @ozzbik it happens whatever mods are enabled - or none... 😞 settings, etc. is ok, but whenever I start to play anything - even tutorial! -, loading screen goes to complete then bummm, crash... what driver do you mean? I gave GeForce v528.02 (from 5th of Januar) and a GTX970 card ps: I completely aware that it is not a finished product but I was not prepare for not being ably to try it once... 😉
  4. whatever I start to play - tutorial, single player mission, whatno - game crashes. I was aware it is early but being such unusable product to be sold from ~30euros is a bit painful. even if I have all games bought from OFP but it hurts...     Multithreading is not the Evil itself. Just you have to make it right, that is the key issue. Never try to make 'tricks' but solve the problems instead. There are several good techniques out there to manage them. Nobody has to reinvent the wheel. It is just part of SW development, too. Being professionally trained it is just a task to complete. It is not even 'art of programming', basics were founded in '70s (if I remember right). There are quite many 'independent' things in games (AI, phisics, grapics, etc.) they just offer themselves to be processed paralel...

    64bit and multithreading

    Well, although i think MSFlightX is not a good example, you are right that not every game or simulation has multithreading and 64bit support. But the point is that we dont talk about MS and its Flight Simulator. We are talking about ArmA. Just for the files: Half-Life (yes even HL1) and HL2, Battlefield2, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, Rainbow Six Vegas, Americas Army, Gothic 3, ALL Unreal Engine based Games since Unreal1 are multithreaded, Ofcourse ID Software's Quake IV Engine, ... we could expand this list a lot more. multithreadin is complex and complicated but that is the comon business of professional developers. im pretty sure that adding multithreading afterwards is rarely possible due the immense amount of time (and money). just take it as some kind of critics for the responsible head-of of this project. usually when development has begnu multithreading should have stood on the list. even when ofp was recent, there already was known that intel and amd would produce multicore processors for the consumer market. also classic smp systems (multiprocessor boards) were already pretty popular. so i dont think ppl would understand reactions as "oops, how we should know?!". ... just my point of view Simon Fully agreed. Just try out e.g. BF2 on a single and on a dual core CPU... Having a 'modern' game without multi-core support is a shame. Regardless the really existing difficulties what multi-threading gets into the picture, it must be there. No question. It is question of professionalism. ;-) It is quite frustrating that my CPU has two 2GHz cores and I am able to get ~20FPS (causing 70% load on one core) even if graphich setting are not so high... O.K. I have to admint that 7600GT is not the most powerfull card on planet but this config gives me 100+ FPS in BF2 (1024x768 and full detail)

  8. I've just gotten& installed the game a few days ago and tried to create a 'toy' mission - just to see how the new editor looks like/works. I added a few T72s and a Cobra (among some infantry). I previewed it as gunner of the Cobra. The very first surprise was not being able to change roles (gunner/pilot) in the heli with mouse-wheel. I pressed 'V' to select 'aiming' view. Default weapon is the machine gun, I was able to lock target for it with pressing right mouse button - but it was not so effective against the good old soviet steel. So, I pressed 'F' to select Hellfire but I was not able to lock any target any more. RMB changed view between the 'aiming view' and the 'normal' view of the gunner... Mission was interrupted, I added an Abrams to hit the T72 platoon from the back - yess, lonely wolf rulez ;-) - but surprise-surprise I was not able to select target neither for the MG nor the main gun with RMB (or anything else). RMB changed the view between external and internal view. Any idea? Same experience? I've checked the default control settings and I figured out there can be two kinds of actions (in this context): - pressing a mouse buttons - 'holding' a mouse button - whatever it means Of course, these two events are triggering two different actions in the default settings - congratulation for the inventor at BIS :-( If you hold the button, you press it first, no? It seems so ArmA is not so good at differentiating them... On the other hand it also does not solve the problem if I glued 'pressing RMB' to target lock event. It selects target for the machine gun but not for the Hellfire. :-( I've created an official bug report for it (http://bugs.armed-assault.net/view.php?id=2290) you can vote for it if you think so - maybe we get correction faster...
