Iron Front - Liberation 1944, new WW2 game on A2:OA engine
sparks50 replied to Choki's topic in IRON FRONT: LIBERATION 1944 - GENERAL
But then again, which game isn't strategy? Dem Hut people be deep. -
Heres a game I happened to slip over. I am normally not one for RTS type of games, but this seems pretty interesting. Has anyone tried earlier games in this series? The focus seems to be greatly on realism. http://www.digitalmindsoft.eu/games/men-of-war.html I'm pretty hyped about this.

How to improve the Close Quarter Combat experience in Arma 3?
sparks50 replied to Intezar's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Not to mention the AI occasionally forgetting orders, "Sir, your in my spot", getting stuck, running past enemies, entering unchecked rooms to walk through them etc. -

Flight dynamics (important issues)
sparks50 replied to nightsta1ker's topic in TAKE ON HELICOPTERS - GENERAL
In this day and age, you can easily fly sims like DCS with a very low difficulty setting, but you would be missing the entire point of the sim by doing so. The difference isn't in how easy it can be to fly, but whether theres a entertaining game beyond the simulation part. Sorry about the offtopic. -
Are bolt action snipers going to have their bolts pulled?

Its a good thread title though. -
I think it should ideally serve a purpose. In RO that purpose is to let you stab someone.

Arma 3 Community Alpha - Announcement!
sparks50 replied to royaltyinexile's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
The Take On beta required Arma 2, and the patch was just a patch. I think people preordering physical disks should be included as well in the alpha/beta as well if possible. Sprocket is a very good service, and my preferred way to buy BI games, but if people don't want to buy from this shop, then I guess you could make a case that using beta access to push them into using it is wrong. -

It plays very differently without the fog of war. Instead of setting your squad up to carefully cover all directions, you will send them ahead to take down the enemy. I don't know if you can turn the fog on like in the original, but for now it plays more like a puzzle-game than a tactical game.

Perhaps including helicopters would leave them exposed when they are hiding behind trees, buildings etc? I'm just trying to wrap my head around this.- 25 replies

These look good, its fun to see the Arma universe in this form.

DLC Isn't that terrible, though there are good and bad ways to do it. (And the industry needs time to figure it out) Games today have a much better value for the customer than it did 10 years ago. The prices largely stay the same, while making games to a competitive standard is requiring bigger teams every year.

I guess he means hiking trails. This would perhaps be more noticeable if there was more detailed microterrain, as long as its just a sticker without grass on it(like roads), or it doesn't offer a speed advantage because you don't have to step through vegetation, it doesn't matter much to me.

Red Cross wants war themed video games to abide by Geneva Conventions.
sparks50 replied to BF2_Trooper's topic in OFFTOPIC
Its just standard gaming BS from people who do not understand video games. The ambulance scene is borderline hilarious, which addon did that tank come from? Please understand that the Red Cross is a worldwide organization, that does a lot of different things. Were not all crazy. -
I was thinking about that too. Perhaps the Cryengine Sim has made them shift priorities?

I think previous soldiers has had non-functional sidearms models on the hip before.

Flight model as in how the helicopter handles in the sky, not the visual 3D model of the helicopter. If that was your meaning.
