ArmA + future games = dropping vection aiming?

yeah i noticed that in the demo movies. and no it doesn't do that in ofp. OFP works as follows, You have three "bars" if you will: like this: ||| (not identical i know but just pretend, ok?) the outer ones represent where you are looking and middle one is where the gun is pointing, that’s why when you run the middle one flicks about the screen as your soldier isn't holding his gun steady any more. In ArmA the two outer bars spread out when you move, as CameronMcDonald points out, like Rainbow(insert number here) and many other non-OFP shooters (Men of Valour was another, and i think in GTA the reticule spreads out when you fire(might be wrong)). As some have said the old style is available so I'll be using that.

Fabulous flying & firing machines in ArmA?

OK, i think we have that sorted now. So, will there be a hind in ArmA? And what about Mi28?

Fabulous flying & firing machines in ArmA?

...interesting to see how this has changed from "will there be a hind" to "the Cobra/Apache is better". We've all gone way offtopic. I'd like to continue this though so, what would stand a better chance against a Hind: AH1 or AH64?

Are the North aggressive yet? Or are the South just afraid? If the North are not aggressive yet, then asking the US to come and train up your troops will surely make the North aggressive. The South are taking a sort Passive-aggressive stance. I think I'd attack too if my neighbouring country was buying arms and training from a super power. What’s Williams point of view? Or is he not allowed one?

    "Operation Flashpoint 2"

ArmA is kind of Flashpoint 2 rather then Flashpoint 1.5 as we originally thought, if you take into account Flashpoint:Elite witch is an advancement of Flashpoint 1. Â This would mean that Game 2 could be called Flashpoint 3 and operation Flashpoint 2 we could call Flashpoint 4...hope that clears things up a bit.

    Not unloading troops

Possible solution 3: you're sayin', that you always use an eject script instead and that it works, so why to bother then? thanks for the tips. Â I'll try them all out asap (i'm buying a new house at the moment, had a blazing row with my girlfriend about it last night) so 'real life' is in the way again. About solution3, it's just something thats always bugged me. Â Why should it be a problem. Â Whats different about a truck and an empty truck with a driver..? The eject script works, yes. Â I'd just rather the game function correctly....but it wont [EDIT]: I tried the "not syncronising the way points" thing and this seems to work, but the driver is in a rush to bugger off and carry on his way points, meaning the last guy has to jump out of a moving jeep and hurt his poor little legs. Also this will never work for a chopper as the chopper doesnt get close enough for the men to get out. all very odd. Just have to live with it i guess.
  8. I've had this problem along time but never tryed to fix it (i always use an eject script instead   ) Heres an example of the problem; I'm using some black ops units, and want them to get dropped off by jeep. However, the jeep comes with a standard BIS soldier at the wheel. So I place an empty jeep, called 'jeep', and another black op guy called 'driver'.  Then type [driver moveindriver jeep].  I also stuff the group of Black ops in the jeep too. He drives to the Waypoint, but no one gets out!  Why? I have placed a 'get out' waypoint for the group and syncronised it to the 'unload' waypoint of 'diriver'.  I've tried using a 'transport unload' waypoint too.  In the end i have to use an eject script, this works, but I don't think I should have to. Can some one help with this anoying, long standing problem of mine?

Fabulous flying & firing machines in ArmA?

@Shadow Here here!!! @Jakerod I hope your right.  I always felt safer with one of those in the sky.  I think the cobra looks skinny, flimsy and week  while the Apache looks bulky, fearsome and strong! Look at them head on; skinny, flimsy + week Bulky, fearsome + strong

    Hehe, BIS likes to hit you when you least expect it. Â Well seems to be the case for me at least. Â Â But then again, I never really expect any news... Â ...then lets prtend were loosing interest in the game and start talking of how we will but FSW: ten Hammers instead. {crosses fingures and hopes}

It's a placeholder for the correct fictional flag. If you look more closely you will actually notice that there is room for 4 flags on the MP-screen. The name of the country is written in yellow on the flag. When you pay attention to the white square to the right of the Australian flag, you will notice that there is some text written in the white square, not readable but the yellow is there. Maybe I see things that are not there, but maybe it will support up to 4 factions. 1 for the USA 1 for the resistance of Southern Sahrani 1 for the Northern Sahrani and maybe 1 for civilians or a another army supporting Northern Sahrani??? Anyway just something I noticed and wanted to share with y'all. Edited: I meant the right side where the thumb is on the left side...stupid, stupid me OFP had four sides also. The civilian flag was white, just as that screen shot. I'd love to have four rival factions though, EG. BAS tonal Gov Forces vs Malitia vs Rebels vs US (with civilians running about too) That would be cool.

Fabulous flying & firing machines in ArmA?

...I had fun digging thos images up. Yeah, lets hope so. Â They seem to have the size about right Also; apparently the Mi17 and the Mi8 are the same chopper. Â The Mi17 was built for export while the Mi8 was used by Russia. Â Basicaly the same exept for the tail rotor possioning. @Warden I see. Â Thank you.

    DMA CoIn Coop Engine

Apparently so. H1 2006 they say. Â It aint out yet and probably wont be out in May so June is the last month of Half 1 of this year. However, nothing is final so it'll probably be out in time for Christmas 2000-and-something. Â Panic over. ArmA has at least 3 more months of development. Probably wont be out this side of Xmas if ask me. So bring on CoIn2!

Fabulous flying & firing machines in ArmA?

You know, i was playing "Monigniac must fall" the other day. Â Knowing that an Mi24 was on it's way I managed to pick up an RPG with one rocket. I used an old trick (aparently used in Afganistan to shoot down Russian choppers): stand with your back to chopper and allow the chopper to fly over your head, fire at the nose of the chopper and the rocket will hit the tail. Â I did this and it worked!!!....but the mighty Hind didn't go down! They are like flying tanks! Â And they do scare the hell out of me and should be in ArmA. One thing though...could an AH1z stand up to a Hind in arial combat? (speed manouverability etc)

It's a placeholder for the correct fictional flag. So they now have to come up with a flag for the country too? thats another 4 months of development! They should let us, the community design it.

I'd like to these 'Elite' guys....or any one other than US troops for that matter. Lets see civilians going about there daily business, or posing with Frank, (with an enemy spy hidding just visable through an upstairs window... )

i hope we can change the faces. ...just thinking, can any one find two different faces in any of the blog images? Prehaps BIA are just using one face at the moment, thats possible i guess.

I agree. I've always liked the Apache...ever since i had this old 3d wireframe game, on the Comodor 64, called 'gunship'! I still prefer the Apache...even if two of them seemed to misteriously be found, intact, behind enemy lines in Iraq...odd eh? Will we see a new UH1 in ArmA or only UH60...? Also i f you look at this ArmA_MP_Press_Demo you'll notice that the 'resistance' flag is Austrailia!

AH-1Z,W has two rotors,Z has 4 and the TSS on the nose. And yeah the MS relink ish odd.. So do BIA have it wrong then? The image clearly shows a vehicle with 4 blades and is there for an AH-1Z (according to meyamoti)... ...while the extended HUD says "getin AH-1W as pilot". So, what chopper is that and who is wrong?  I'm sure BIA would have researched such a thing.... [EDIT]: Hmmm...After a quick look on google i have found the following; AH-1W (note the two blades.)  Apparently called a super cobra. And here you see an AH-1Z(you will note it has 4 blades) apparently called a "King Cobra", you will also note that it's inverted!  Will we be able to fly upside down in ArmA? @BIS I think you need to rename this vehicle or face the wrath of hundreds of fan saying, "that’s wrong, that is!" in an annoying manner.  Just a thought
