I think i was the only person who liked the oregami destruction, altough sometimes it was overdone and you couldnt cross a street anymore because of a stretched polygon... As long as we are able to change the destrType then ill be happy, it doesnt need to be in the default game, most new people wouldnt like the oregami stuff anyway  Like i said, there not very good, but the do give the intended impression. I'm glad some one else likes them too. {dont tell too many people though, they'll shun us from the OFP community for life!}

I like JAM. Especially with peanut butter. No really, I do! Also, the Joint Ammo and Magazines addon is quite good too The only thing i don't like about it is the 'snappy-crack' of the guns. It's probably more realistic but Lasers sounds better. But i do like the 'smaking-into-the-ground' sfx, very nice. Also i get totally confused when assigning the ammo, too many choices for my simple mind. Good luck on the mission though.!

{wrong thread, sorry.}

I'd guess because the majority of OFP players complained that distorted buildings was unrealistic and very wrong. You can't blame them for paying attention to the community. They did do destruction animations for the easiest structures, the fuel station and bridges. Animating other buildings would be much harder because of their size and proximity to each other. It would also be difficult to make animations look realistic. e.g. If you fired a shell at the right hand side of a building and the left side collapsed first; Fired at the roof but the building collapsed from the base; If falling debris disappeared into surrounding buildings. Non-destructable buildings is the most likely outcome for Arma. Animating potentially hundreds of different building models is possible but would we rather wait even longer for Arma to be released? Dynamic destruction is highly unlikely for the reasons already given in a dozen threads (Memory/CPU usage etc) Before anyone points to dynamic destruction being possible with current CPUs (Game 2 video) - yes without all the other CPU intensive changes that have gone into Arma and a 60 player battle raging around you. Very good point(s). I think I've read some place though that the terain will not be distructable due to fears that it would have adverse affects on the AI. Yes the 'paper' destroyed buildings did look a poor, but it gave the general impretion that the building was fubar Also, doen't BF2 have destrucable buildings?

Hang on a second! I actually read what you posted! If that heppens (not the email bomb but a real bangy bomb) then we'll never know about it! Frank cant do a follow up post, becose the shop will be blown to bits too! How is that gonna work? if he gets killed durring a 'Drill' then we could see a follow up, but surelyFrank wont be allowed to frequent the internet Cafe if the US goes to war, or even if they pull out. Pluss they wouldn't pull out after loosing one guy (or even several guys), it would be seen as an act of war against America and further troops would be requested....there is a huge floor in that plot, and reality just fell through it.

funny. Maybe he jacks into the Matrix and an agnt gets him.... But no, I havn't seen his name. But i have seen the old guys from OFP (James Pound etc)
-
Because an Xbox wouldn't be able to handle dynamic/semi-dynamic building destructions. Ok, that makes sense. But why don't they even become distorted like OFP on pc? I just find that a bit odd, and a bit of a worry. If it was accepted in OFP:E then maybe it will be deemed 'acceptable' for ArmA too.

He isnt the only one with a mother or a family you know. And why would mothers of 'real' roadside bombed soldiers be keeping upto date with a fictious blog for a sim-game  . joke, dude. I was being facetious.
-
@GBee I see, nothing eh?...that’s a bit worrying.  I wonder why not. @jeftec Let’s hope so.  Yeah, I've seen the bridge collapse...but what if it’s a set piece?  Like an animation rather than a random collapse?  That could still work I guess. @deanosbeano I cant play that video.  it loads up, but when i click play nothing happens...
-
...i remember you saying that ages ago when you made you animation pack 1.5...
-
Very ambitious. I'll be watching.
-
Nothing Nothing? Nothing at all? Not even a crappy 'squashed-stretched' polygon house? @jeftec But no onw has done if for OFP (i've seen one "in development" but none released)
-
Or maybe he's already left and is back in the US, i dont think they have many PCs, or internet Cafes in that little speck of a country, do they?
-
Thats a bit bad tast isn't it?! I'm already attached to the guy, and want to know more of his life. THink of his poor mother. Or the mothers of real, roadside bombed, soldiers that are sure to be keeping upto date with ArmedAssault progress. And what about Frank eh? I suppose they killed him off too. Poor Frank. Poor, poor Frank. ...Hey ho, on we go. Just another nail in the Northers coffin! I hate those bloody Northerners! Death to the North!
-
Funny! Also, yeah that bridge colapsation is cool So what happens in OFP:E when you 'kill' a house?
-
That was a joke? Yeah, I'd like to see what happens when you 'Kill' a house. We know they arn't destructable, but what happens to them? WIll they squash and stretch like OFP?

ArmA + future games = dropping vection aiming?
stegman replied to Baphomet's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
In reality you do have more than a fair idea of what your gun is pointing at, i guess it's difficult to simulate exactly. The current system in OFP was pretty cool, what with being able to look around freely of your gun (by pressing Alt or * ). I can't wait for this game to hit the shelves so we can make our own minds up. We sould get a little MP demo to see the work so far, they don't need a publisher for that do they? -
...we really need to see some more "latest screenshots" to get us back on topic

Placebo is not the one who is writting Porter's blog. I believe the blog was accessed trough clicking one of the Bis guys on their official site... Â so I recon it's him. He was also writing the campaign afaik, so.... Â medvidek said no it isn't. So why no update then? Prehaps there'll be two next week instead
-
...strewth, you two can write!
-
much as i did with OFP Now im educationally subnormal, but can play OFP like i have a doctrate in it! I think i'll probalby install it, play it for a while, then download the patch from the web that fixes the inability to run left while using iron sight!

Graphics in my opinoin. Guns go bang, cars go vroom, so what? Just make it look good

ArmA + future games = dropping vection aiming?
stegman replied to Baphomet's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
I agree with that. Also the multi- player- join- in- progress feature was sorely missed in OFP and much complained about. -
ArmA is kind of Flashpoint 2 rather then Flashpoint 1.5 as we originally thought, if you take into account Flashpoint:Elite witch is an advancement of Flashpoint 1. This would mean that Game 2 could be called Flashpoint 3 and operation Flashpoint 2 we could call Flashpoint 4...hope that clears things up a bit.
