we all heard the new voice engine in the arma e3 footage, it's not that bad but IMHO the THAT added in every sentence isn't very convincing 2, target THAT ... sniper, 5 o'clock 2, target THAT ... soldier, 5 o'clock I find the shorter version ("target sniper") much more command-like, more brisk and firm and less time-consuming
-
touching music but a bit meagre on the camera side of things (zooms would be better ingame) but I like the satellite photo blend
-
haha Finland's entry is just what this contest needs, the hardrock could be better, but the Slipknot appearance and the over-the-topness is brilliant next year Belgium should send The Clement Peerens Explosition (serial parodists of rock cliches)

back in 2001, the only simulator I could play (due to my crappy "onboard Intel Graphics Accelerator") was ... Microsoft Flight Simulator 98 then I started looking for a better helicopter simulator, and saw OFP's Hind promo pic somewhere on the internet went through numerous failed attempts to run the demo on my old PC, to add a graphical card to my Pentium II etc. finally bought a new PC in 2002, and Game1 the same day at first I thought the game itself was ridiculously difficult, so I mainly got sucked in by the editor and OFPEC.com at first ....

there's some very bad coverage of the Arma E3-alpha on the german website gamestar.de the editor writes that Arma "must be a joke" and is a bad re-release of an old game by nowadays graphical standards for german-speaking members, you can react here there have been some 675 replies so far

I really like what I get to see here especially the final guy's attitude seems to be saying: "there's only one developer that can cover this terrain so convincingly" the desert area isvery bright and crisp, I think it is an improvement over the rather dark and dreary lighting of OFP1
-
the movie is short, but the camera scripting seems to have been expanded: - camera can be tilted, this means setbank and setdive have finally been enabled !!! - incremental zoom (zoom speed is variable) - I *hope* shaking cam is there as well

OFP-D Afganeveron v2.0 and AfganPack v2.0
redface replied to ALYGATOR's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
here's a full mission I concocted for the purpose of testing the features of this pack, "Battle for Bagrami" is based on a BIS campaign mission but you most probably won't recognize it. I am very fond of desert-theme and couldn't find any other missions so I thought it appropriate to share it here. Download Battle for Bagrami Promo pic 2 <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> ---------- README ---------- Battle for Bagrami SP Mission using: Remo's AfganEveron Island and Taleban Units (http://ofpd.org/afgan.php) Conversion for the purpose of testing the Afg(h)anEveron 2.0. release by Remo. Adapted by coldfrites from mission 16 in Resistance Campaign. (All credits go to BIS/Codemasters.) Some changes: - player side (GUER) switched to (WEST) Northern Alliance, EAST to Taleban. - Original WEST American supporting troops unchanged - pick-up trucks added on Taleban side, let the guard escape in his white truck and you will see them coming back at ya ... Download locations for the 2 packages: AfganEveron Island and Taleban Units ftp://www.gamepark.cz/ofpd/islands2/OFPDAfganeveron2.rar ftp://www.gamepark.cz/ofpd/unofaddons2/OFPDAfganPack2.rar No mice were hurt during the testing of this mission. Known issues: - BM21 can be used with "manual fire" only, AI can't use it (you can insert ZIL-trucks for more fireworks) - "Massoud" unit on Northern Alliance side gets stuck in the ground? there is a very authentic atmosphere to this pack, and of course islands based on the original BIS relief still can't be beaten -
sorry, your summary of the German article needs to corrected as far as the translation of "hinterherhinken" is concerned: "OFP is still being left behind by nowadays highly-graphical shooters the game is still lacking in graphical details but there is more density to the bushes and the game still excels in drawdistance"

BD = bande dessiné in French, comic book

I'm pondering the ways to finalize the mission where you need to fend off enemy prior to hasty evacuation ("Rescue"?) it's the exact location where you re-invade Nogova in that other fine mission "Foothold" Upon arrival in Modrava's port area, there's a helicopter hovering there but when I approach it, it flies away. the same seems to happen to the boat (in nautical terms of course). am I just too late or too early? Do I need to fight off some further enemies? the trigger indicating the evac zone shifts 700 meters along the coast, but the Helicopter landing zone is clearly near the harbour

OFP Mission-Database´ "Mission of the week"
redface replied to Sudden Death's topic in USER MISSIONS
wow, that mission poster already deserves some praise how did you edit the shadow effect on the faces? looks amazing -
Q2 2006 has been confirmed in most recent interviews I would place my bet on June 26

Poseidon II , the ultimate engine?
redface replied to gandalf the white's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
@BIS: I may miss the point in this footage, but I really don't want butterflies and birds ingame, if the ground textures stay so primitive and bland. I have to admit that the latest ArmA pictures look better than the carpet-like floor in this Game2-build, but overall the surface is still lacking in micro-detail. -
I posted a hint at the games.telenet forum, Blanco
-
it's good to see that BIS starts weaving a story around this I think and hope it foreshadows the immersive elements in their upcoming releases if they indeed manage to increase the CPU-efficiency, their engine has the potential to intensify that unique OFP feeling: the feeling that you are really training, managing, commanding the resources and people around
-
where does this come from?
-
thank you for this excellent movie. Whether one likes the story or not, one has to admit to the following: There's few OFP movies that have reached such a depth of psychology in their plot. The flashback structure is handled very well, both technically and in terms of story build-up. I have waited more than three years to finally see full-blown "desert scenes - guerilla warfare" in (motion) action in OFP. EDIT: what is the title of the first song? very good usage of music too.
-
Well then: I request a meeting. Tomorrow is OK for me. I can drive to Brussels if that makes life easier for you.

duh, I never realized they were all biblical names

Wilco, the shot about the "fan" is simply breathtaking

do other games function? maybe the video card itself is physically damaged. Better be quick, because there's a 30 days free fetch-and-return policy on all DELL computers (even if you didn't opt for on-site support). simply get on the phone and they will guide you through some tests they delivered a new hard drive for me (for free) because the one inserted was damaged upon arrival

last summer, I temporarily had to work on a Mac for one month and that was enough for me installing PDF and MSN was a nightmare, no support for my VPN client, I even encountered some clumsy clicking mistakes and lack of basic scrolling possiblities It all looks very nice, but if your mind is stuck on the "windows" principle, all the popping, integrating, lingering and disappearing of programs is just too complicated
-
or even better: spread the news that new screenshots or a demo have been leaked, and hordes of people will take renewed interest
-
deanosbeano that deanosfire065qn.jpg picture is indeed breathtaking please do post the video, because I haven't had time to install the new fire&cloudworks yet and would like to see this in action EDIT: all other pictures are cool too of course, I'm still visiting this thread every day but it is really daunting to even keep my OFP up-to-date (let alone take screenshots)
