"McNools Pacific", those were the OFP days very good idea to give us our deserts back
-
touching indeed bit empty though, thus exactly stressing what Arma 'out of the box' improved in relation to original OFP
-
can someone provide a nograss island based on the updated 1.04 release
-
funniest ArmA video so far don't think it has been posted here, sorry if this is the case, but it is an uncanny "must see"
-
I'm still having fun with this mission I've just destroyed the base with the ammo and fuel trucks in the forest, me spraying bullets as a gunner in a Dhschk jeep thanks for putting interesting materials at my disposition, I've already seen a helicopter standing in the next base what I noticed: some of the guards tried to flank me in a coordinated attempt, but most of the others seem not to be grouped. If you consider an update, this would make it even more challenging. But it is OK as is

I humbly suggest handing out a special award to some strikingly "minimal posters" as kind of reverse credit system for quality posters Recently I noticed user HeinBloed's 20th post (probably all SP mission contributions) this user registered in February 2002 and just made his first post. now that can count as "weighing one's words carefully"

for the sake of clarity, I added an ArmA Easter Eggs page to the Wiki (credits have been given wherever possible) please add new items or clarify existing items as you see fit and read at your own risk!

download Mafia Warz by Big OFP Fanhere this topic contains the longest list of easter eggs so far, so I continued posting in here
-
another easter egg, although I can't really identify it the face in the wall reminds me of either a painting by William Blake or some popular book/CD/game cover. does anyone know where it comes from? I found it in Mafia Warz mission, the place where you go buy weapons. It's a burnt house looking really out of use NB: Oh, and the car's name is funny too of course

while playing Imutep's Sabotage SP Mission, I stopped to take a breath and enjoy the impressive scenery I can even see the sea from up above the radio tower mental note: must not forget to achieve my mission objective this is me basejumping from the tower Addons: NoGrass Sahrani Sabotage Forum Topic (I'm not associated with the project, just enjoying it)

hehe that's an interesting way to explore the new island I tried to rob the bank, but I met with the guards' fierce defence I went to buy some better weapon this figure integrated in the house looks vaguely familiar to me: http://img73.imageshack.us/img73/9782/image1rn6.jpg does anyone know where it comes from? (Lord of the Rings?) NB: look at the car's brand Â

cool mission especially the setting (Everon) is a nice way to discover new aspects in ArmA finally I got the feeling that I could compete with the enemy AI. In the village, I can hide behind walls, in barns one of the most advanced user missions for ArmA so far, with full-blown intro with dynamic map
-
hi there I tried your mission, and it very interesting indeed geographically a very good choice the hills and mountains landscape is so stunning that I have to force myself to concentrate on the fight still having problems with the grass though, I would like to play the mission on the NoGrass Island, but changing the filename does not suffice in this case depboing your mission does not work, did you protect the Pbo with some extra encryption?
-
well I find myself sitting as gunner, I order the pilot to fly to some place, and he crashes into anything nearby how do I make him fly higher?
-
do the charts only count MP players? because you cannot fully measure this engine's fanbase by its MP enthusiasts. Being an SP enthusiast mainly, I've been playing OFP for 5 consecutive years, but I stopped playing MP a long time ago.
-
I reacted to your youtube vid and I've just given the mission (version 0.3) a try but I still don't understand Arma heli-flying okay, you suggest the switch, but: when i switch to gunner, the pilot invariably messes up (flies to low and crashes into the trees, flies in circles when under attack) this is not about your mission, it's about understanding ArmA, but I would be grateful to hear other people's experiences

had a go at this one finally in SP it's just magic to command so many units title is a tad misleading, as it only starts from the airport, it really is about capturing Paraiso and other cities. great work, thanks
-
I'm curious as to when the tools will be released. As I recall, it took ages for Visitor and Bulldozer to be released to the community besides Kegetys and some other specialists the current size of the cities is a fair trade-off considering the many problems AI can run into when between houses.

too bad I bought a new system in September 2005, at a time when there wasn't a single Dual Core system available. Recommended option for a gaming system was at that moment: AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Â and GeForce 7800 GTX (checked it on tweakers.net)! 256Mb videocard and 1 Gb RAM even cost me an expensive upgrade, 512Mb RAM being standard. And already one year later 2 Gb RAM seemed to be a minimum. am I correct that system specs have evolved remarkably fast over the last few months?

Am I correct that the "Advanced member" used to be awarded automatically at some stage, but is now no longer active?

should you be able to move and shoot in ARMA?
redface replied to --DST-- HIGHLANDER's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
For the record: could somebody care to clarify how people managed to do this in OFP in the most infamous of all CTF (you know which one). While in full cover behind a wall, I regularly get shot in the head by someone just rushing past my position. Â You seem to know how this was done? And what was the benefit of running sideways/sidestrafing in OFP? I wouldn't mind if this were no possible longer in ArmA -
it's frustrating indeed to see that there are many new attractive vehicles for beach-landings or for staging attacks from the water, but that AI-teammates cannot handle them very well. My solution in "The DOCKS" was to steer the boat myself and shove the boat way up on the beach. Then you can give directions to individual units and they can exit the boat without navigation problems. AI drivers, however, will keep the boat too far away from the shore, so that units are bound to lose their weapons when disembarking. Another solution: turn the loss of weaponry while swimming into an optional variable. This feature makes sense from the player's point of view, but it is frustrating when it happens to units that are aimlessly wading around in order to find the shore or maintain formation.

ArmA's custom face reminds me of Sven Nijs (cyclist from Belgium in the Dutch Rabobank team, quite famous around here ...)

<s>I guess the pictures should be the other way round</s> sorry to say, the complaints about this are widely exaggerated did you guys switch off vsync in the panel of your graphics card? please mention full specs as well
