  1. mno....a sniper main role is information gathering and not "sniping"....yes, he is used for taking out high priority targets, but that doesn't happen as you see in movies. Don't mix the law enforcement snipers with military ones in the same pot

    I have this statement of a new guy to arma stuck in my head, who posted in the technical part of the forums, about how is suppose to do X in arma MP, and he was actually asking about an Evolution feature. (i don't remember his exact question though). What is the conclusion: the fact that some of arma players thought that this is how arma MP is: Evolution gameplay. Remember that: 1. VON was never an integrated part of ArmA 2. There are still servers with VON off 3. The whole mission could have been completed by yourself. Anyways, this thread is not about criticizing one mission or the other. In the end, it's only server admins for hosting ONLY these kind of missions, and ourselves to blame for not being able to create missions that would need more than just killing EVERYONE on the map to complete it.... Looking forward to seeing a different approach towards ArmA2 MP mission designing, trying to enforce a bit more teamplay Just my 2 cents anyways

(you will need to register over at dev-heaven before being able to report an issue though) No, ACE doesn't lock viewdistance to any values. But the mission you are playing might (warface 1.1.7d map) lock is dependent on your view distance as far as i know. i have tried it, i cannot confirm the behavior you posted. I will have a look over, thanks for reporting it. What do you mean by carl gustaf issues are back? Is this only happening with latest build (1.07)?
  4. at this stage of the development, such a request is useless, since modeling, texturing it, testing and implementing it takes quite a bit of time....so there will be no kiowa in AA2, but i am sure one mod or the other will get this chopper in at some point

    well, if you ask me, evolution is the worst thing to ever happen to ArmA1 MP community. No offense to the mission designer, that is a really nicely done mission in terms of scripts etc

    external references are used to inherit properties from that specific class yes you can use an existing model on any configed unit, on whatever side you feel like: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/CfgVehicles_Config_Reference#side so basically: class civilian_BIS;//extern class civilian_example: civilian_BIS { side = 0; }; would add a civilian named civilian_example inheriting from civilian_BIS on the EAST side. Note that the class names are not existing in the BIS configs, i have invented those as an example. If you would like to add the civilian class name civilian_BIS (so without creating a new class name), you would need to just change the side of that to a different one. Adding units needs to be defined in the CfgPatches section

    XAM is not XEH compatible afaik, so no, you won't be able to use them together without problems. the "merge" in the title got me scared there for a second...

    I am not sure if most of you know how arma 1 has the files layout... if i am right, and the system regarding configs and weapons hasn't changed much from arma1 to arma2, this system here cannot work, since a weapon model includes also the sights, and there is no way of adding those AFTER midgame (as in combining a weapon model and a sights model). BUT, i agree that there should at least be a scripted way of doing it, that should be coming from BIS, and not from a 3rd party addon. If you check SPON Attachments (i think this is how it's called), this deals exactly with that. So overall, i think what is needed (in the case the system is the same as in arma1), is to have the main weapon as primary selection, and then you could add on top of that (even if that would actually change your weapon model altogether). No field stripping etc for me, but crate usage (if these model are available) would do. I know making such a system is possible(working with arma1 layout that would probably be transferred to AA2), but i doubt we'll see it on AA2 release

  13. is this topic still standing? i mean what is the reason for even having this topic anymore? And your lists are for....the modding community i assume since BIS has already listed their weapons (not all modifications, but still) and vehicles... Am i missing something?

  15. People usually complain about NOT having something in the game, rather than having it. Remember that ArmA2 will be at least as modded as ArmA1, so i am sure someone will make use of that c130 in a better way(maybe on a bigger island with multiple Airstrips?)

  17. would be good to know what were the specs of PCs used in GC BIS presentations. Is that information available, allowed to be forwarded? I for once will be waiting for the game to be released before i go changing my CPU (from my aging e6600 @3ghz) to a newer one, or adding another 260 on top of the existing one.

  19. There is no client side way of reducing the weapon sway. You could try shooting from a different stance (such as prone), or supporting your weapon on an object. Also, holding your breath feature that comes in vanilla now makes a lot more sense using.
  20. evolution maps don't really stress coop really, and if you ask me, is one of the worst thing that happened to public servers in arma. even so, this whole thread is pretty much useless. Throwing words at each other rather than finding a solution (in most cases), not to say that requesting PvP to work similar to other PvP games out there is idiotic since arma is on the other end of the game spectrum but hell, everyone has the right to post whatever he wants as long as it stays within bis rules
