The polarity of the axes refers to the position of your controller, not the effect it has. You can map anything to pretty much anything, so if the joystick is working properly then that's all you're after :) -

The issues with the old vs. new style wip / upcoming addon thread are still on the radar but there are some other changes happening too that require a lot of attention. The wip / upcoming addon threads were tools independent so there's no tool based reason why there is no thread like that right now. -

create an empty static gun and the driver separately, name the anti air gun something like, say, AAA. Put your event handler script in the init line of both units. In the troop's init line also put this moveInGunner "AAA"; See if that works out. http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/moveInGunner -

It's hard to understand what the problem is. Surely not every copy fails to install. If you're worried about it and you're thinking of getting it from the Bohemia store, I would suggest contacting Placebo to get more information. -

Or watching the video of someone taking a point blank assault rifle to the armoured chest and not even flinching, then talking about how there's 'nothing to it'? ---------- Post added at 15:03 ---------- Previous post was at 14:59 ---------- I think it's just the way the models are set up. I haven't really messed with man classed things but you can get away with quite a bit in terms of setting up hit points (ie. points that you can hit) on other vehicles (in arma men are a subclass of vehicles). -

Turbosquid is legal. there are legal sources for 3d models that are free, like (formerly) google 3d warehouse. Just be sure to make sure to read the terms of use. They are fairly liberal, but it's good to know what restrictions there are. If you need help interpreting what it's saying, I can help you :) If you do use models from external sources, we would really appreciate it if you gave the original artists the credit by declaring the source of your stuff. So many people claim it's their own work and then get banned for that :/ There are examples and threads about character making and rigging but I don't know if there is a tutorial from beginning to end. -

No they aren't. That's a ripping site. They have ripped models from games and other places on there. For instance, if they have Assassin's Creed models on there, those models are owned by Ubisoft. Copyright includes your right to control distribution and derivative works, so when the site says you are free to download and use them, they are violating Ubisoft's copyright. If you were to then use them, you would also be violating Ubisoft's copyright. Thanks for being forthright about where you got the models from. A lot of trouble for everyone was saved :) -

For where did you get your free 3d models? If there is reason to believe that you do not have permission from the original author, or obtained 3d models from a 3d ripping website, there will be a lot of explaining to do. -

I personally wouldn't mind it either but I think players would get very frustrated if they were always getting knocked over and had to watch an unbreakable falldown / get back up / roll into prone position / whatever animation. -

Well, when I say missile targetting I mean saclos. The rest of it is just like arma 2 afaik. No problem. The hind is interesting to fly in this game and presents many unique challenges. -

Just to be clear, the vikr in TOH (if there is one) doesn't have those modes. I just meant that AT missiles IRL usually have to be pretty special to be used on aircraft. The hind in TOH has more weapons and better missile targeting simulation than arma 2, unless they modded the TOH system back into arma 2 recently. Arma 2 doesn't have PIP, so no MFDs, and the flight model is nowhere near as complex. -
How the model is created would be based on the original asset parameters, created during the preproduction process. That would (also) be in the original asset parameters. How much time it would take would be in the original task estimate, based on the work done in prepro.

Part of the arma design up until this point is the fAIr system where everything the AI can do, the player can do, and visa versa. If you had the AI falling down when you shot them, if BI is still using the fAIr design philosophy, then bullets would also have to cause the player to skip around and fall over too. -

I've never flown from the gunner's seat but I wonder why it would be more difficult than when in the pilot's seat. The hind itself is quite unstable in the cover to begin with, so it's not the easiest machine to fly in that condition. That could be. Aiming with the MFD would be very awkward, though. Using the optics view would be better, and would give you better performance. No. The missiles are too slow. There are a few supersonic AT missiles with limited anti air capability but AFAIK they are laserbeam riding. The vihkr in particular has several air to air modes for different conditions, the premise being that shooting an aircraft that's approaching is much different for missiles than when they are flying sideways or flying away. -
This. The land itself doesn't case shadows. Everything in that scene would be shadowed by the hill if this was real life.

Fixing it is not even on the table. The more time it takes, the more expensive a project is, so no one cares how messy or not the UVs are. Assets aren't created with the intent to try to accommodate some potential future need that may or may not come to pass... and it's impossible to predict what the asset might be rehashed for anyways. Getting the project done in a reasonable amount of time is much more important.

The missiles are saclos guided but the actual systems aren't depicted. You guide the missiles with an approximation of saclos guidance in general. Yes. AFAIK, the guns are sighted using an optical telescope. You use them by pressing the optics button on the keyboard, which fills your screen with the view from the telescope. There are MFD screens with FLIR in the Superhind. They are also guided using the telescope. The missiles seek to be in the centre of the crosshairs. Mouse by default. You can set it up to use any controller or key (combination) you like. -

I'm not nostalgic for the original SC or CT... LOL. Firing at people then waiting for things to settle down is not jumping into a room full of bad guys, yelling 'boogie boogie', and then telling the computer to shoot 4 of them in less than a second.
