To the people who are playing ArmA, how is it?
olemissrebel replied to evilnate's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
There are no bugs with the flight model. Just because it's not EXACTLY like our beloved OFP, and is more realistic and responsive doesn't mean it's bugged. -
It does work fine, open your ArmA cfg, and change the color settings from 32 to 16, save it, and make the cfg file 'read only.' Make sure you have AA, AF, and shadows off, as well as post processing, and you WILL be able to run it well. You can't expect to run it at high settings with a rig like that, it's not BIS's fault. Would you all rather them make a game that could run on any system that looks like ass? If so, go play OFP. Even then you won't be able to run OFP at full settings.

Explosions have no physics effect on objects

it worked for me

The thing is we are using laptops. Also, after those weird glitches, it will sometimes CTD and windows will appear in safemode, with 6 bit colors.

That's exactly what's happened to me. I thought I triggered what used to be called FADE in OFP, et cetera. Â I was pretty angry, as I have a german physical copy, and a downloaded version from their website! Â Also, when I use -nomap, the splash screen has weird glitches, the more i play, the higher on the screen they go. Almost the same exact computer, and an 11B at that! HP Pavillion dv8000t Pentium T2300 dual core processor @ 1.66 ghz 1 gig ram Nvidia GeForce go 7400, 512mb Conexant high definition audio, driver updated to 3.23.0.0 Windows XP Media Center Edition, updated German ArmA version updated to 1.01, with english patch DirectX 9.0c ArmA runs quite smooth on my not so smooth laptop, even at 1440 by 900, all on normal excep no AA, AF, or shadows. Â The only problem are those strange graphical errors. I have tried installing the DVD game itself, patched, unpatched, with or without the english patch, as well as the downloadable version, and this ALWAYS happens.

What camoflauge fits Sahrani best?
olemissrebel replied to j w's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Hmm, I'm going to take a shot and go with ACU...hmm... perhaps because It's US Army Issue, if we were deployed to some bum-ass island such as that as an infantry company, we'd be wearing it. It's not a matter of what looks best, it's just the way it is in real life. SF more than likely would have ACUs in that situation, as it wasn't a combat zone, and more of an aid mission, however they would be wearing modified BDU's (woodland) Either way, BIS pretty hit the nail on the head. It's nowhere near perfect, but it's far superior to any other game I've seen. Stick with ACU. If it's good enough for (arguable, for you whiners sake) the best Army on earth, I'm pretty sure it's good enough for ArmA -
US Non-Combat Uniform units for ArmA

Exactly why I don't wear any, ever. Then again I don't suppose an IED is going to distinguish -
US Non-Combat Uniform units for ArmA
olemissrebel replied to havocsquad's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
As for the nad pad, it's better than nothing. We don't wear CIB's on our IBAs or anything, not even on our uniform in country, as all of our 'hooah' badges are pin-on, and cannot be used for airborne operations, much less combat. -
Wrong...they stryker brigades tested the uniforms that led to the ACU. One Battalion is about to deploy using the new landwarrior system. They use only ACU, I can assure you

US Non-Combat Uniform units for ArmA
olemissrebel replied to havocsquad's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Summer PT's is an excellent idea, as far as nurses and doctors go, they would be in ACU's if they were deployed over there. If under a tent, they would have their blouse off, and a labcoat on. -
US Non-Combat Uniform units for ArmA
olemissrebel replied to havocsquad's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Goodness people, is it that hard to understand everyone in the US Army, in a nutshell, wears ACUs (not literally everyone, but soon to be) I'd like to see a good retexture of the IBA, with added rank and name tapes... and an added molle vest to go over it, as it's pretty much SOP with a lot of units. Â An actual Mich helmet and not the one they have, as well as an actual ACU Uniform, not the pocketless one they have now. Â Also, I'd love to see someone with their sleeves rolled up over there. Â It would also be nice to have a PC instead of that Marine Corp cover the officer has on, as well as proper knee-bows (knee and elbow pads) Â I haven't seen those black ones in awhile. Clavicula, what's your mos? 11B here, 1-20th SFG AL Army NG, 2-58 at sand hill, what about you? -
Exactly, I have apparently activated FADE in both the downloaded version from morphicon, AND the German retail version, patched. I have uninstalled, and re-installed, and it's constantly activated, or something of the like. What on earth am I to do?
-
I joined, are myself and a jarhead the only to real-life military personnel in the group?

the m16a4 is essentially the a2 with a removeable carrying handle, and removable hand guards... it IS in use, and no one but pogues (people other than infantry), army or marines, use m16a2's... i can assure you it is very much a REAL weapon. and yes kyle, FN make's a lot of the us military's m16a4s, and various other weapons. actually the m16a4 i was issued in infantry basic at 2-58 at fort benning was of FN manufacturing
-
I don't understand why people don't like the sounds, they are generally, and fairly realistic, especially the sonic booms caused by rifle rounds passing close-by. The AT4, and M24 on the other hand...
-
aren't we a genius, the ST does not just transport troops somewhere and leave them, it is a means of support, and three members of the squad are assigned the positions in the vehicle...

BIS doesn't create the game for you, they create it because they enjoy it, and to make money, so if you don't approve, don't play it. "2. The fact that you can easily aim with the saw-249 using the quake crosshair while standing and easily hit targets is lame. It's completely arcade. There should be no such reliable shooting from the hip." that is incorrect. i'm an infantryman in the US army, and can say for a fact the saw is at least decent in ArmA. it is used in CQB, and with reflexive fire drills just as much as the m4. it actually IS possible, although rarely done, to shoot from the hip, and it's really not that difficult, much less difficult to hit naything with the saw. then again, what would most of you know about military life other than through flashpoint and i do mean that in the nicest way possible

this is such bullshit, i ordered it from CZ, and a german version (german hasnt arrived as of yet) and it appears i've activated FADE or something like it, perhaps it's starforce... texture glitches, choppier frame rate, and random text here and there. I don't understand why, as I have the legal version!

Okay, better put: Here's all anyone asking will ever need to know about this MOD, and it's update(s) When the updates are finished, they will be released... ...WHEN they are finished. If there are any errors beta-testers missed, that's too bad. If Thunderbird decides to further update, he will, if he doesn't, he'll let you know, I guarantee it. All in all, there's no use being a pesky little shit asking, you're just using bandwith...
-
Better answered, who cares... it's his mod, and he will judge and release what he decides is the best balance of looks and performance...there's really no use asking
-
Could someone please pack all of these addons together and host them, it's a bit ridiculous to download all of that again from OFP infos slow servers
-
use vanilla OFP, no sky packs or anything, and use -nomap and tell me if it works.
