CM Operation Flashpoint 3 announced | "Oops, they're doing it again..."
nettrucker replied to Undeceived's topic in OFFTOPIC
Why should he get any support from CM? They dropped support months ago. Which says a lot to me about their company business model. What I was really hoping for was an alternative wargame to play, instead of BIS games. A game that would be superior to what BIS has achieved so far. For achieving that gol, DR failed completely. The info leaked about RR until now, seems not to be different. And honestly even if Codemaster would develope the game of all wargames, I won't buy it. It's their company policy that I detest. I'm sorry to say but they don't merit my money. This is in no way a childish behaviour of mine. What happened after the release of DR just confirmed me that I did myself a favour not to purchase DR. Tricking people to buy something with questionable marketing is damaging on the long term a company. What I do understand is, why they are putting al these restriction on to their games. I understand perfectly their marketing policy. What I don't understand is their behaviour towards their customers (their community). What I love about BIS games is the absoute freedom you have when playing this game. CM's DR limited all this freedom as far as I could establish with playing only a rented version of DR and only for 1 afternoon. I was just disapointed. It was completely inferior to what I'm used to play when playing ArmA II. I don't believe that RR can somehow give me the thrills the same as ArmA does. I'm fully aware about it's limitations and flaws and I can live with that ( due to support by BIS ). But RR will have the same restricting issues which the majority of our community detests. For all true OFP fans RR will result a new failure. It won't be superieur to ArmA II. Yeah the video looked nice, but I prefer the gameplay ArmA offers and the freedom I have without any kind of restrictions. Now everybody can call me a fanboi.:D I would like to see a wargame better than ArmA, that's what I'm looking for, but I know that only BIS can beat themselves. Not much of a competition around so far. Other companies care more about the money they are making rather than about their games. And as it had been stated thousand times before, there wouldn't be an issue if the game wasn't called Operation Flashpoint. Second, video games are a matter of personal taste. Everyone can play whatevere he likes. Sorry for my rant, but this is becoming another DR thread. LOL! Kind regards -

C'mon... just let us stop bashing him. The old DR thread was already full of that. He don't like ArmA so he sticks with CM. That's ok with me. He made some bad comments here and gained a ban, than a permanent one. Our community is full of talented people, so there is no loss nor a gain, if he's part of our community or not. Kind regards -
Hi and welcome to the forum. AFAIK there will be only digital downloads and no DVD. Kind regards

Operation Flashpoint DR Island War campaign: Know any simillar mission?
nettrucker replied to kyfohatl's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
Hi and welcome to the forum Check Armaholic for campaigns and read the campaign descriptions. I don't know if there are already user made dynamic campaigns available. Since I never bought DR, I have no idea what's the campaign like. Most of the user made campaigns are pretty good though, just check 'em out. taste is a very personal thing so I wouldn't know what you prefer. kind regards -
He posted also in the troubleshooting section. It seems he's unable to install patch 1.07 of ArmA. In any case to help him is impossible as long as he don't give us some more info on the actual problem and his system specs. Kind regards
-
I tried it once again in this very moment, but I'm unable to view it. Stays the same content unavailable. I don't know but it might be because I'm located in Italy. I had no troubles to view the other posted videos but the op video is not available to me, apart from an uninteresting commercial at the beginning. kind regards.

nettrucker replied to Undeceived's topic in OFFTOPIC
Did you read the announcements made by CM? And if you are sick and tired go play something that suits you better, nobody is forcing you to play a game with shoddy movements and whatever flaws you are attributing to ArmA. No offence meant. ArmA II is not a perfect game, but hell can you name me a game which is perfect? What competition are you talking about. DR turned out to be not competitive to BIS products and as far as it seems RR won't be either. kind regards -
Try another extraction tool like win rar or something else. Never had any troubles to run and apply the patch from the relative folder. Do you own a retail version or a digital one? Yeah it would be great if you could post your systems specs so someone can maybe help you. kind regards
-
hi welcome to the forum. Why shouldn't you get it to work? Did you try the demos first before purchasing? And did you read the minimum specs required to get it to run? In case you meet the minimum specs reqiured you should be able to run it, maybe not at highest settings but it should run decently on middle or low settings. I suppose you did read at least the requirements. kind regards

They already disabled the possibility to watch the video it says "this content is currently unavailable". Jeeezzz!!!!

Even If RR would turn out to be the best wargame ever developed: I won't buy it. I don't support developers who don't support their community. I didn't buy DR when it hit the stores way back then. I read both forum and it became immediately clear to me that DR was a failure and that it limited everything which made OFP such a great game. And all the die hard DR fans which are still holding on to the game, well they never catched the sprirt of the original and I doubt highly that they ever played it, otherwise it would have been impossible for them to like DR, the same as all the true OFP fans who left their community ones they realized that DR wasn't even par with OFP. Just my 2 cents. kind regards -
Hi I watched the film twice. Not that the content was really new to me, but that is how things are working out momentarily. The real power is held by capitalism which defeated democracy IMHO. Therefore I post this other link to another film, named "Why do we fight", explaning further how the actual situation is evolving. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8383084962209910782#docid=9219858826421983682 I think that it is relating somehow to "War made easy" therefore I posted this into this thread. kind regards

You should read once again what Maruk stated. We just got OA, a new DLC to come. ArmA II and OA are still fresh and you' ll see that daily new things will be released by the community. New addons new missions new campaigns. Hell . . . you'll have enough material to enjoy and have fun for the next years to come. If you were to test all the new releases you would cease RL. It's impossible to keep up with all the stuff which is created for the ArmAverse. Our Island makers are doing a fantastic work, mostly top notch this will lead to more variety in missions/ campaigns for the future to come. You will never get annoyed. Believe me. Not to mention all the great mods which has been released for ArmA II and there are still a lot of moding teams in WIP. Vietnam Mods, WWII mods, you name it. You should learn to see the bright side of the things my friend.:D kind regards

Is there any chance to play all SP scenarios maps in coop mode ?
nettrucker replied to pawelkpl's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Hi an welcome to the forum well it depends on the mission designer himself. MP and SP mission design are two different pair of shoes. Not every mission is designed for multiplayer if it's strictly designed for single player than you would need to transform the mission in multi player. On the other hand most multi player designed missions can be played also as single player but not the other way around. kind regards -
I second that. Most people are easily influenced by mass media advertising. If you could portray ArmA as the best wargame ever made and you have the funds to launch a massive advertising campaign the game would be sold in much higher numbers and the word gets spread that ArmA exists. But you have to raise an incredible amount of money to pull of a stunt. Especially the greasing part is highly expensive. You can't sell a game to people who don't know that it exists. When it comes to depth and realism let the people decide if ArmA could fit their taste in wargaming. But first you need to let them know that ArmA exists.:D kind regards p.s. if you can brainwash people to buy crap you can brainwash people to consider ArmA to be the best war game ever made.

Would you have trouble with dropping support in case BIS adoptet the same business model? I don't mind CM doing it because I never purchased DR but In case I would have done it, I would be rather p+++ed. For me it has something to do with the principal of supporting a game that I release. I still believe in busines ethics which has become an optional in todays modern game companies. Therefore BIS get's my full support.:D Just my 2 cents kind regards -
No crashes here either and I'm running from low to midend system. Dual Core only. PC games needs some tweaking to get most out of the experience and ArmA series especially, but it is worth a try. Come and join the "Dark Side" Muhahaha!!!! :D You won't regret it. You'll see . . . you gonna love it or hate it. In case you hate it, get rid of it . . . in case you love it . . . boy than you're sc***ed. LOL:D Just do it and get it, you won't regret it. kind regards

Best set up for flightstick controls for Aircraft.
nettrucker posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL

Honestly said I don't care about how many copies they sold. Yeah the marketing machine by CM works well but they are out for quick bucks. They promised things and hyped the whole sale, but they failed to deliver in terms of competitor to the original one. Second there's no relationship between Dev and community and they dropped completely support. I support BIS also for treating the community like humans and not only as potential buyers. They communicate to improve the game. They got a history for supporting their games and therefore they have my support. Apart from the fact that a better wargame has to be invented first. kind regards -

I believe that all the guys still hanging around on the other forum is because they really never got hooked by the original OFP CWC. I mean how could've someone possibly liked DR if they all played the original OFP. Infact all true fans of the original OFP bashed DR and left their community, DR had nothing in common with the original game. All freedom was gone ridiculous restrictions and the list goes on and on. If you really loved playing OFP . . . then DR was just a fail and a big letdown for all true fans of the original game. I believe that all people which are still playing DR never catched the spirit of CWC. Neither the developer of CM who designed DR, they limited everything what made the original one so great. Just my 2 cents kind regards -

How goes that saying? "Fool me once shame on me . . . fool me twice shame on you!!! I'm curios with what marketing plan they'll come up, given the epic fail of DR. kind regards -
BIS is not responsable for ACE therefore they won't change release programm just while ACE doesn't support the DLC. Second there are a lot of people who are indeed interested in a SP campaign myself included. kind regards
