If you complain that ArmA2 is too complex try playing it with ACE2 which makes it even less "gamey". And back in OFP days we didn't have options for auto-targeting, enemies being marked in first-person view with red rectangles and crosshair stuck in the dead-center of the screen - so AA2 caters to newbies too (too much I'd say - but I'm fairly OK with that as long as it doesn't hurt the "normal" way of playing the game)

Dwarden while you are at it - are there any plans to fix civilians (as in making it possible to interact with Chernarussians properly again)? And is UAV attacking enemies and maneuvering on its own when it has hellfires, or giving you commands who to attack when you control it - a bug? And whether it's being worked on (the UAV module is set and synced properly, as per wiki)? And what about the cursor that is stuck in the center of the screen which makes controlling stuff uncomfortable with a wide deadzone? -

- IR marker still shines like flare with or without NVGs (it's been an issue for what - 3 betas now? Is it so hard to make it like it was in 1.52?) - UAV tutorial is still broken -

Exactly my problem. The only way to gain full control over UAV for me was to remove hellfires from it. Then it keeps the altitude and directions you set for it. -
Actually they were saying stuff like "I saw sniper just west of here" and there is nothing to decipher - it's clear

Can AI open doors with new versions of Zeus btw? It's hard to notice with all the combat going around and all As you know in vanilla AI can't, so it leads to this little cheat where you can just enter the house, close doors and heal/exchange ammo/etc with your team in a complete safety. -
BIS really needs to fix this. I enjoyed it when civilians were telling me about enemy movements in the area. Now it's completely broken.

Another thing I've noticed is that when vehicles are in the open and notice enemies they try to use buildings around them for cover. That's a on the "pro" side. The con here is that multiple vehicles group together behind one and the same building at times. -

Confirmed that IR strobe shines like flare. Edit: Also the UAV training is broken now. When I come close to one of the UAVs message says that I need to press Space to launch training exercise - but when I press it the cursor appears together with the soldier menu as in usual cases and nothing happens. -
What is the correct way to control UAV's AGMs?

Yeah I know how to setup the module (module synced to commander, terminal and UAV) As I've said the problem is that there is a guy inside of the UAV which as soon as UAV detects enemy vehicles starts to give me orders, switch weapons on his own and even control altitude and direction of the drone and sometimes crashes it. The drone with this pilot also attacks targets on its own if left alone. And if you'll group yourself with a drone you can even give the guy an order to jump out - and he will jump out out of the back of a drone (he's also a generic rifleman for both USMC and US Army drones). How do I remove that guy? -

I've tried Birdseye's version and I like how AI deploys smoke - made me wonder why didn't it do it before. Like several squads of my own were pushing opfor back in one town in Chernarus and they deployed smoke which totally concealed our view and stopped advance for a bit. Or how pilots of downed choppers were deploying smoke immediately upon jumping out. I also liked how AI seemed to use cover more. It still acted stupid at times, but compared to how it was previously it was an improvement. I've noticed though that in lasershow mission some soldiers were breaking formations, but still mission ended with no casualties. So I'll definitely try the "original" version of Zeus. -

Nice, it works. But here is another question - how do you make it truly unmanned? When I just put it in the gameworld as Empty and Flying - it just falls down and crashes. When I put it in the gameworld as West - there is a "pilot" "inside" - which switches between hellfires and laser designator on his own and gives me orders as if I was a gunner. -

Units still walk through walls, vehicles Units still get stuck in one place for no apparent reason Units still get stuck holding a pistol (even if they still have lots of ammo for the rifle) and lying on the floor -

New beta patch makes a recoil for assault rifles quite OK.

Oh man how I wish to see at least a real small town in AA2 for once, not just a bunch of 2 storey buildings along two streets they called "Zargabad" which is more like a real life village.

Bah - they looked waaay better preOA. Don't even small light sources like mobile phone screen show up like big discs in NVG? And can anyone tell me who plays in MP with new beta servers - were duplicating rucksacks and buggy BIS wounding system fixed online? -

Yeah. A mere content pack - that Armaholic is full of. And it costs $10, 1/5 of a full game - while including only about 1/30 of content that OFP had 9 years ago. No new island, no reasonable-sized campaign (considering that BIS spent a whole year to bring us 6-missions long campaign in OA - what can they do in one month? Another EW?) - just a bunch of soldiers, tanks, choppers and that's it. You know taking a lazy route instead of making real expansions. I can already bet that a mere mod called Project Reality will offer much more than this DLC (it will even include a new island) We already have people here who all but ask to make Cold War Rearmed a mod for money - it's hard not to be cynical. I've yet to see a game where DLC was reasonable and worked. It's always either a pack of furniture, a 2 hours long forgettable "campaign" or both. And I'm just a customer - I don't care about how BIS wants to milk me for money or what it takes for them to achieve that - as long as they make something big of a high quality. I'd rather see a quality product once in a year than a DLC with a "short campaign" about ultraboring specops unit yet again. In other words - I'd rather pay for a full expansion than for this. -

The fact that it's just a paid patch with 2-3 new missions called "campaign" and a bunch of reskins can pretty much lead to me simply being unable to play it online. All BIS needs is to make stuff like this every month - and they won't even have to really improve the game or make new ones - because people apparently want to be ripped off. Which is mindboggling. Considering that we already have brit mods that offer just as much for free. Wait a second. OA had campaign? I thought it was just a short demo version of a SP part? And 5 new factions? You mean UN, Czech, Germany with 2 different types of units per "faction" plus takistani militia/rebels which are just reskins of each other? That's some solid amount of content right there. -

This is it. OA just have been turned into a goddamn Sims. It's over. What's worse is that you need to buy a modder-level stuff akin to furniture DLC packs to play on servers that won't let you to unless you have it. Oh yeah. Even if furniture won't be required to play on the same server - people still won't be able to play unless they have the DLC.
