SOPA - Internet as we know it about to be gone?

Hmm lets balance that with costs to persons with industrial accidents, hospital cockups, road accidents, and well anything that costs more day today than 1 example in 2001 that justifies scanning everyone's post which can on request as a result be passed over to authorities. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001_anthrax_attacks Yep thats it, 5 dead, a few contaminated (by a source of an item you get clearly get off the shelf by anyone posting it any time except it was from a lab) ... 13 years later its in force for everyone permanent posting letters, throwing around financial cost wasn't everyone who now posts a letter in the U.S's issue. All posted to key selective places, not the entire U.S generic postal addresses that can happen at any time like any other daily threat a human will face. But lets magnify these cases and blot out everything else to justify it to be put in place. S.T.R.A.W.M.A.N. Preventative measures slowly but surely once added together, put in place and added to again later dont end up the place they started. Plenty of examples show legislation being used outside of what it was "originally intended", you just have this thread alone to show it, let alone all information elsewhere. Initial justification, acceptance, installation, the norms... expand.

    [SP] Operation Ghost Recon [Lingor]

Not the game, just the mission file! :) To explain, theres a random start chance of conditions being high moon or no moon, no moon doesn't have extra light cast from the moon itself which means everything including NV is darker. Its another angle set for extra condition to change the mission. In an update Im adding some extra light sources for no moon conditions to help but its supposed to add some extra challenge. You have a light (Y key) if needed to help but use it sparingly as AI react with light sources.

SOPA - Internet as we know it about to be gone?

Sound like "paranoid thinking" to me, funny that. Every item daily (millions and millions) based on what percentage of ricin packages and bombs flying around the system daily? ... like PRISM, like terror laws, like it all, take the worst case scenarios (compared to what can kill and threaten daily for humans) and install its "measures" for everything and everyone. In the grand scheme of things with postal items in the USA as a whole and the events you describe your talking a dust particle on the moon in comparison. For officials, government locations and military and so on yes, for everyone ... cant see that one. http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2013/07/us-postal-service-logs-all-snail-mail-for-law-enforcement/ And again like all this legislation and law changes over the past number of years (esp post 9/11) the "request" justifications are getting thinner and lines being blurred with keywords (see SOPA online as example). What you fail to take on board (or ignore) is all of this isn't fragmented, all of it allows an accepted platform to work from once installed and accepted and centralised via tech, to then change, modify and at any time to be expanded on for now and the future (your kids). So crack on defending it all, as long as your safe (yawn).
  4. Yep wrong place to ask, either play COD! (joke) or look in here for "Flashpoint" missions, jump into any situation as leader or grunt and just battle the crap out of anything all over the place and be whoever you want switch whenever you want. Here you go, this will keep you occupied forever: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?134399-SP-Flashpoint-Instant-Action-Dynamic-Missions-Release-Thread

You missed the point perfectly. Strawman mania rides again ;)

SOPA - Internet as we know it about to be gone?

You clearly live on a planet I do not reside. As I say, whistle-blowers show the "fibs" and contrary acts, but that's then explained away as "what they do any other time like everything else", like I say .. doublethink runs strong. As regards industrial espionage I never said they did at any point, but pointing fingers at how bad others are doesn't make anyone squeaky clean its just deflection and your mixing them all together and they are separate. Just for the record you have me as paranoid becuase "I" suggest it? Its in the news for every individual to see for themselves, I dont have to suggest a thing, im not doing it. You might want to read this thread and about SOPA and every other piece of legislation in regards to "key words" (I posted this a few pages back that you ignored) on what allows data mining based on as the go ahead ... your missing a massive cavern of detail. The use of terrorist laws and what's under the umbrella of criminal and terror has been blurred for 15 years now with all kinds of law changes. If you think that looking at bad men in the world means other peoples data cannot get caught in the net through its process then you are living in a perfect world, never read this thread and ignoring aspects including PRISM details which should tell you all you need to know. For example you mentioned in this thread about the PRISM creating only a certain small amount of cases, ignoring the fact that to get the cases the "hoard" of data wasn't simply a list of bad men to focus on only. All this legislation is slowly pre-crime based and isn't solely executed on intel of an individual, its on ongoing live process, and that being the case we all must be potential criminals and terrorists going by that logic. For example: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-23125509 http://apps.washingtonpost.com/g/page/national/inner-workings-of-a-top-secret-spy-program/282/ But I guess an official website will say the contrary, one day mate the penny might drop, but I wont hold my breath :) Some funny examples similar to how you post about this, are general people, mates, work friends etc etc. They all at a drop of a hat would say "paranoid" and "conspiracy theory" in certain discussions and yet if you say "I posted online about questioning the government" you watch how many will say "Really? Watch out if your posting things like that online" ... now, going by the fact its all conspiracy theory and paranoid which one sounds more like it? And ... if there is "nothing to hide or worry about", why in the back of peoples minds would they say that? Surely there is no need ... that would be paranoid. :)

SOPA - Internet as we know it about to be gone?

So this nice little gold star/clean sheet for the agencies means that you still acknowledging "everything else" and yet we are all paranoid theorists? Thats what im getting at the most and not suggesting, hence the doublethink and straw-man arguments. Thats isnt a 100 percent, and as you always ask for proof to everyone else, you dont have that assurance other than official sources (need to know basis) and simplest explanations. Then again, I didn't say they do it either, what it does do is show how you contradict yourself in this thread as "everything else" IS the point of this thread, which you claim we are paranoid about or theorists for highlighting and focusing on as well as anti government suggestions.

SOPA - Internet as we know it about to be gone?

Did I say they had? No I didn't (read my post that you always suddenly dont understand), what I am saying is posting prove it all the time doesn't = nothing happens, nor does official documents for the public. Bored with your snipes mate, meaningless to the thread as normal, if most of it doesn't make sense, why reply ;)

SOPA - Internet as we know it about to be gone?

@ Mattar: Wheres your proof they are not 100 percent? Do you work for them? Are you an all seeing omnipresent being? Do you have full clearance and privvy to all factors of all agencies? You posted offical public domain website documents, nice. Thats becuase people get fired, have legal obligations, plenty of money for top legal backing and know how to work something within a legal framework, contractually compromised, compartmentalised structures with levels of need to know, and anyone who does show evidence are whistle-blowers who get shot down in flames as a traitor and demonised or made an example of for others, or question anything and as I mention will get fired or probably threatened. Theres a big wall to get through to get evidence to the public domain on anything such as this. And as mentioned history has the answers in regards to how agencies conduct and act, not a reset button for the day your in on this forum and ignore it all. When there is allot of power to gleen and financial gain there's plenty wanting to shut down on anything exposing a jot of it. Linking official sources will tell you everything you need to know in the public domain website, so yes, they are not conducting anything like that at all, correct, job done. Funny part is, just like the PRISM situation if proof did get out, again, it would be the same .. lots of officials shouting it down, the leak in question getting it in the neck royally (more than likely portrayed as a nutter and then digging for something in their life to smear them via the mass media), and people then posting something like "This isn't proof, officials said so" or some other convenient shift (see this thread) like "Yeh well we all know they do it, what's the problem??? Doesn't effect me". People smash those under "theory" tags and yet when something gets proven its explained away again, a massive dose of doublethink gas gets spilled every-time. BTW Norailgunner, watch out, becuase next you will be "Anti US" ... I had that thrown at me a few times, which was ludicrous, as this crap is global.

    [SP] Operation Ghost Recon [Lingor]

V1.1 mirror added to Armaholic, added to first post. @Teoloe ... As regards random, its random, so its a random chance to play in 5 or so different places per island location (I think its 4 in NE) so retry may or may not repeat, luck of the draw. If that's an issue then try a different location instead. I may devise a more fixed percentage chance later but every time I try it repeats rarely, and trust me I had to test this hundreds of times, its not a mission where random will be obvious all the time, different things randomise per play. As regards the upsmon error, I fixed a link problem in one of its files and re upped 1.1 the pbo should be called "OPERATION_GHOST_RECON11.lingor.pbo" for 1.1 check you have that and your starting fresh and then saving new. Also there was a short time as you posted yesterday that I added 1.1 without the UPSMON fix and then re upped the quick fix, so re download it again from first post, delete your old pbos, install again and play. I tested it last night and played for 40 mins with 5 saves, all reverted fine in game and via exiting game, loading back again and continuing just to make sure. I just extracted the pbo and re checked and all is set correctly. As regards night vision, nothing I can help with, Its tested cba/vanilla Arma2 and NV is darker with filter and 1.1 removed and now NV on test is normal and under all conditions its bright as normal ... I think you either have a mod or your contrast settings need adjusting.

    [SP] Operation Ghost Recon [Lingor]

Im trying to find a happy medium of being able to get up close (less use of NV for rebels), and also having the player time it right. It comes down to how you use your team and using yourself to do the searching main parts, using team as scouts almost. One things for sure that I set them to hold fire/stealth at start to make a point, keep them hold fire for as long as possible and only open them when needed and shut them down again to hold fire! :) I did test it earlier and I was detected but the combination of no NV adds to some cool moments of staying prone and having knowsabout units go past very close. What I dont want is to find that your just getting caught out no matter what, so thats where my question of patrol amounts Vs getting job done comes in for feedback. V1.0 is how I assumed it should be, V1.1 is how I think it might be better and less easier ... so its based around that. Although if player is just running around and not controlling team, expect to get it in the face. Im mainly refering to hostage search tasks/patrols, thats where it can be tricky. The recon part is to check the patrols, see where they go, do they have NV or not (to get closer or just avoid anyway), mission start is random who gets NV. the main point is to accomplish objectives and no so much go on a killing spree for the sake of it only if its a direct threat.

    [SP] Operation Ghost Recon [Lingor]

Just to add, let me know the difference on patrols, v1.0 still listed in the first post in spoiler with original patrols and now extra added in 1.1 so the big question is, is it too much or not, the poll is still open for people to feedback on that. I wont be able to edit now for deff for a week or more so that will give time to get any feedback.

    [SP] Operation Ghost Recon [Lingor]

V1.1 update added in first post - EDIT: I just checked the upsmon files I see a location error, should be fixed and added to 1.1 update, link in first post now, thanks for posting I missed that ;) Let me know if it happens again, fingers crossed all upsmon files are linked correctly now. Night vision is always crappy in this game, I added a night filter to add more depth becuase vanilla NV is too bright at times. I would suggest changing your gamma setting and see how you go. I can remove the filter but without it NV is like a spot light to everything. EDIT ... I removed the night filter for those with vanilla NV, see how that is.

    [SP] Operation Ghost Recon [Lingor]

I have added a poll in the thread about patrols on this mission, I will leave it for a few days and please post feedback on the question. I wont be able to edit anything for about a week or so now, that will give it time.

Those that doth protest too much on this and point the fingers are the ones to be looking right back it with the same tools oddly enough.

    [SP] Operation Ghost Recon [Lingor]

Hi, An Armahoholic mirror has been added to download in the first post. Thanks I hope you enjoy it. It does come from an avid single play player and I was obsessed with Ghost Recon when it was released :) I was trying to get back some of that feeling with it, it was OGR that got me into the bug of taking time and observing, one my first times online with a game was The Farm and it stuck out and played it over and over. BTW when I have time to get back to this the east island added by Lingor 1.5 will be a place to have 'The Farm' mission that will be based on that mission entirely (or nearest it can be with additions). Not for someone who is a scripter, when I started to build on this mission I knew hardly anything about scripting and I have never looked at how you even get a mission into MP so im sorry but its just out of my learning and I needed to ship this out now as my window of time (learning as your trying to make it seems never ending with allot of frustrations) has run out for now. If anyone wanted to offer to get it in shape for COOP then let me know as I wouldn't be able to do this myself. It may be simple it might not but I wont have the time at the moment ;) Please feel free to post any feedback or anything bugged, I have played the situation out and tested many many different ways to make sure there's no real bugs but you never know. Im glad you posted this, I was trying to make this so approach was steady and not overkill with zones I can add more patrols no problem, also to note not all have NV so you can get more up close and personal, its not the main focus to kill enemy, having said that some also do have NV so you have to watch out on approach. IF ANYONE ELSE READS THIS HOW DO YOU FIND IT FOR PATROLS, NOT ENOUGH TOO MUCH, JUST RIGHT? Mate you will not know how much the capture behaviour pissed me off! Trying to find something that would work without to many bugs and weird capture behaviour. If you check the HINT & TIPS section in your objectives/notes I have stated everything to do to get this to work better while playing. Heres the details for hostages from the briefing: 3. Hostage Capture - IMPORTANT Also note that as I know this doesn't work in your favour becuase of standing the hostage isn't a known threat until you release him *hint*. So that time taken to sort him out in the open can be done before release. Also my expereice is the hostages try to run like hell with fleeing off ... and that's vanilla game no mods, so I had to strike some balance to work it ... hints and tips and briefing cover all of it. I didnt want to bloat the download with too many large audio files for now. Also most of the OGR music is more "menu music" and there isn't much to set the mood in game. Good point, I can pepper the areas with some fixed items, most of the time was spent getting the thing to work so I can now spend a bit more time adding those for udpate. I wanted some feedback for this as release version anyway so anything else then please post. This was just the backbone release and then I can settle in and tinker and add more things to polish.

    RTS Features

Well, thought I would start something here. As mentioned in the off topic thread: It was basicly this addition to Arma2 OA: The basic GUI put things into a more RTS mode to mount and move and set certain modes. Now I know this would be more mod based, but I also wonder what kind of RTS feature could be brought to just the rover control? Its early days and maybe you chaps have this covered already in other ways. Maybe just another way to control multiple rovers, although it may take it away from the core game.
  18. mrcash2009

    Terrain Blending

Yes its alot more dense looking and "thicker" I would say, adds far more depth to it with the shadowing.
  19. Excuse my ignorance, but what does that mean? Finalisation of work flow/code?
  20. mrcash2009

    RTS Features

Heres my view, if you are excepting a "hard" setting, then it should be exactly that and a reflection on the camera setting view also. No 3rd person in real life, so no 3rd person in hard mode :) Maybe "hard" should actually be named "Simulator" or "realism" mode to reflect the point, maybe you have that already I dont know.
  21. Well going by what your saying that's E3's issue, I dont think people on this game were gunning for that title, but it all helps.
  22. Hi, Thankyou very much this is perfect :) . It may not work exactly like weapon attachment with movement but its still perfect for what I wanted (house search using stealth/silent approach). I was very surprised I could not find a SD weapon with a flash-light in vanilla, you would have thought at least one OA weapon might have had it. Thanks again, I can use this as a seed for adding chemlights too.
  23. Hi, I checked a few threads and saw a list of flashlight weapons: But I cant seem to find one that's silent SD weapon AND has a torch attached. I checked the weapons list section for class names but none tell you what has flashlights and what dont. So ... apart from using ACE or some other weapon mod (im trying to stick to vanilla OA/CO for my mission with not too many dependencies) is there a weapon that is both SD & has a light attached with vanilla weapons? If there isnt (which is odd and annoying) is there a script way I can add this to a mission to avoid dependencies on an addon?
  24. So could I then have left stick of 360 controller for primary movement and then right stick od 360 controller for secondary, as in, Left stick for movement of rover right stick for cam movement... if I read your post correctly? That would feel good for control. Sorry for this as I realise its a bit trivial :) Its just for some strange reason it seems as if using a joystick and or controller combination would feel more like a rover control unit in many ways.
