Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
Cheeseman replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
I'd suggest the Mobility HD 5870 over the GTX 285M. Overall it is a more powerful GPU while the Geforce GTX 285M is nothing more than a highly overclocked Geforce GTX 280M. The Mobility HD 5870 also supports DirectX 11 which makes it more future-proof. I own a ASUS G73JH-A2 with very similar specifications to what you're looking to purchase: CPU: Intel Core i7-720QM (1.6Ghz Quad Core with 2.8Ghz Turbo) GPU: ATi Mobility Radeon HD 5870 1GB GDDR5 RAM: 8GB DDR3 HDD: 1TB (2x500GB 7200rpm) OS: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium Screen: 17.3" FHD at 1920x1080 I haven't got around to installing ArmA 2 yet since I've got the digital download version so its a bi*ch reinstalling, but I have installed Battlefield Bad Company 2 and the game runs maxed out (except for AA x1) at 1920x1080 resolution with an avg of 35-47 FPS. Of course you can wait it out a month or two for the Geforce GTX 480M which should be 20% faster, but it'll be a lot more power hungry while running warmer. -
ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead discussion thread

I like ArmA2 and the new expansion looks good and all, but I was very disappointed by ArmA2's multiplayer game-play. I bought ArmA2 as soon as it was released (German version) and finished the single-player campaign, but after that I haven't installed or played the game in more than a 9 months. I'm pretty sure the multiplayer experience isn't going to change much with this expansion since overall ArmA2 lacks a solid structure in that area (excluding co-op). Hopefully ArmA3 will have a better multiplayer game-play with a mix of reality and fun. (something along the lines of Project Reality) -
I like the patch so far, but would have loved a sound and damage improvement for the A-10's GUA-8.

The Geforce 8800 Ultra is supprisingly fast for an older card. Not only is it faster than all Geforce 9 series cards, but it's even faster than the newer Geforce GTS 250. In other words, you'll do fine. :)

I for one wish BI would improve the A-10. They haven't done the A-10's GAU-8 much justice. I'm sorry if I sound demanding, but the in-game sound of the GAU-8 isn't anything close to the real thing. As for the rounds temselves, they don't seem to do a lot more damage than the cannon on the other jets. Maybe have a little splash damage from the 30mm rounds?

What does ARMA 2 have that Operation Flashpoint 2 doesn't?
Cheeseman replied to bloodbomb's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Personally I purchased ArmA I and I bought ArmA II the day it was released and although I do love the game in many aspects I still believe the multiplayer needs lots of improvement in terms of organization/task issuing and interface. Project Reality is a prime example of how a realistic combat game should play online (teamwork all the way). As for OPF2; I know it's too soon to judge, but from the video's out there it seems to be on the borderline of CoD4/BF2 with some realistic points. -

This is how it looks for me on a Geforce 9800M GTS with a Core 2 Duo P8600: Can't say 21-25 FPS is any good at Very High/High settings, but I just have to have my high graphics.:p -

The AI helicopters easily get shot down and at times don't engage the enemy while they have the chance, but the planes have much better AI and can hold a great fight. -
Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.

I believe for the 64 Bit version of Windows XP that is true, but 64 Bit Vista can handle more than 4GB of RAM. -

To use more than 4GB+ of system memory you'll need Windows XP 64 Bit, cause the 32 Bit version of Windows only recognizes around 3.2 to 3.5 GB of RAM. Anyhow, as long as you have around 3GB of RAM you're fine. My laptop has a 2nd LCD screen that informs me of my computers resources and while playing ArmA 2 RAM is usually around 70% and this is under Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bit SP2 which is more resource hungry than Windows XP. -

Morphicon (petergames.de) ArmA 2 Download Released
Cheeseman replied to OChristie's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I don't know how I managed to purchase the game so quick without hesatation, but I did and it's done. I bought mine from Metaboli using PayPal and it was quick and easy. It took no more than about 2min to purchase the digital version of ArmA II which is why it feels so weird; almost as if I rushed through the whole process. :p Anyhow, as always the method of sending money was quick, but having to wait for all the files to finish download will take quite some time. At least as of yet I'm probably one of the only people to own ArmA II in Canada. :D -
LOOK IN THE SKY!! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? NO!! it's a M113 I call it The Flying M113.

LOL Now thats an accurate estimation ! Â Well... I have everything on low on 25+ fps on Rahmadi... and 15-20 fps on Sahrani. I hope I can get 25+ on Sahrani on high/medium mix. Can anyone say if thats goint to be possible with this system: AMD Athlon XP 4000+ 2x 512 MB Dual Channel Corsair CL2 2x 80 GB SATA-II RAID0 (100+ MB/s) Latest Asus mainboard for Socket 939 ATI Radeon X1650 XT 256 MB I don't know about your suggested system, but mine is something close- My Sytem: AMD Turion 64 x2 Dual core (rated at 2.34Ghz) ATI Radeon X1600 512MB 2GB RAM 160GB HDD -and I get some shitty FPS sometimes when around a lot of trees. Haven't checked, but I'd say the shitty FPS of mine would be something around 10-25FPS with every single graphics on "Very High". Other than the 10-25FPS around trees, I get smooth frame rates when in relatively open area (like around buildings, when driving in the road, walking in a city, airport, etc) I could bring down the graphics to Mid-High to get faster FPS, but I like my games looking good.
