    Mods loadable from main menu

    visualise yourself this: In the main menu you have a "mods" option, once clicked, you get a small screen where all mods are listed, there is a button to search for modfolders (any folder with "@" as first character gets listed?) , from there on you can select the mods you want to use (once a mod with it's own config is selected other "config mods" get inselectable). Happy with the mods you selected? press ok, and Game2 loads / unloads / restarts / does whatever it takes to get the correct addons so you can play without modifying one of your 204754 shortcuts . This would also help with online play. If a server requires a config mod, and you happen to have that mod (not loaded in though) a popup appears asking if you want to modify the mods you are running . This wouln't apply to non-config mods, simply because there's a large chance they're just used to organise the server's addons .

    I think the caspian sea monster would be nice for CTI missions (especially if Arma focusses more on water). Also imagine a beach landign version of that... better yet: plane flies over wter, jettisons a container wich steers itself to the beach, opens, infantry runs out... ...has written Sci fi all over it, but meh wikipedia-ish

    Yep! maybe make it a bit different so that it calculates how far off from the center you are looking and moves in that direction constantly? (so you wont have to turn your hear 100 degrees on a UAV cam :P ) For soldiers... FFS! can't Bohemia just test the damn thing to see how well it works? , add some code, fiddle with it, etc. Personally I am getting more and more exited about TrackIR (truck rides, chopper rides, all sorts of rides!, and I think that if the way it would work on infantry is settled we would all be happy with it.

    I hope they make a mix of ECP and VME's AI. they shout stuff (ECP) , and behave differently depending on their anarment ( machinegunners provide covering fire: vme) Some of OFP's AI was really good, pity it took away allot of the CPU's recources, making it impossible to play with more then a couple of groups (let alone online)

    the "common scripts" part was attempted by Mapfact, it was used by only one mod (CSLA) and it rendered entire missions unplayable. I hope you will release such a pack very fast, and continue to improve it from there on. also consider making a "light, medium , heavy" variant, cause people with barely the minimum specs wont like the fact that 8/10 addons are depending on an addon the person cannot run .

    Quite simple. As soon as BIS knows what the release date will be, they will tell us as soon as they see the need to do so. would it be too much to ask about what they need to get done? and I dont think they release allot of pics because the graphics keep changing. first the grass looked like OFP:e's, now it looks more like Game2's, odd shadows included

    LMAO - that looked Awesome! ...The driver jumping out before it exploded I'm curious. Could mass be turned down in soldiers to produce a sort of ragdoll effect? No, "moving" corpses are only calculated when the type of bullet impact is an explosion (fixed in the readme) VME did it with their machine guns, when two of those tore up on a squad it was as if the gates of lagging hell got opened... same in multiplayer, and it didn't mixed with Y2K3 too (noisy explosion sounds)

    Ah yes! downside of this is that the process will need both approval from the downloader , download managar (is this file a virus known to bis?) , and your normal antivirus software, as it would be relatively easy to send other kinds of data trough it.

The second link is about Radiosity Afaik, i'm not the expert here but it revolves around making the light scatter from a surface to illuminate other surfaces (I had the idea that was what you meant.     that was comparing Arma with VBS1, I do not see a problem with discussing the use of bumpmapping (or polling the opinion about it) in VBS1 . "it looks real" depends on your viewpoint, the lack of proper shadowing and the fact you can count the polygons kind of destroys the effect for me. "Is less demanding" true, very true. "draws allot more than any other game engine out there" Not neccisary, but it also calculates allot of stuff you can't see (trajectory for each bullet) , however, Kegety's, about the light deflecting bit, you mean as shown here ? or on this render? . I am not the expert here, but my common sense tells me that that, on a Game2 scale, will be a b*tch to accomplish. Then again, I have heard rumors about DirectX10 coming up, so... maybe I am wrong (and I certainly hope I am *drool ^.^) Either way, Kegety's, I'd like to hear your (affordable) solution to realistic rendering, I heard something about Glide?

    Holy schmuck that was rough, I guess the bumpmaps I used for lubrication weren't as oily as I was told they were . Either way, it depends on the engine, and I hope there will be some examples on how bumpmaps look in VBS1 EDIT: removed Arma from above sentence

    I wonder if VBS1 users get a new engine (that supports DirectX / fixes "ofp bugs" or will have to pay another $200 dollars to improve an engine that can be surpassed in terms of complexity with an Xbox I have to agree, all those bump, normal, specular whatever dont look real or sharp enough for OPF's/VBS engine, a sharp photorealistic texture will always have a more authentic and natural feel and look imo. I cant imagine the amount of work applying several layers of textures on a huge game like flashpoint just to make it look cartoonish and run like an old dog, some improvements on metal surfaces maybe but for the most VBS1 textures look amazing to me. Adding improved/better lighting should make it look amazing . @Jennifer: With all respect to your knowledge in modelling, wich part of this looks plastified? Technology is advancing, bumpmappings are rendered differently for each engine. @Heatseeker: Bumpmappings makes you see detail that is not modelled into the model, it is a way to save your videocard from rendering X thousand polygons. to compare: I wonder what you could like to see, the left model (wich double the texture quality and tripple the polygon count to match the right one) , or the cartoonish GPU-unfriendly right model. "Game2" is the game that they wanted Flashpoint to be: a large, ongoing war. RPG elements clearly visible. Placebo, care to enlighten us on the untold history of Flashpoint?

    ye it may be easy to kill but perhaps make it more tougher to kill to make it a bit more challenging perhaps? And I didnt say the enemy invisible just the gun itself to make the minion look as though its telekinetic Lesson: The AI doesn't know that he's holding a gravity gun unless you tell him that he is, and tell him what he can do with it. It's much easier to just use the scripts from that Horror pack ( this one? ) , There are units in there that can lift up stuff and throw it at you (check the demo missions )
