    I'm not really sure what your referring to as far as BIS releasing a new game every year. That hasn't been their pattern. Well I guess the HDR effect is a matter of preference as I reallly like it.Shame those who don't can't disable it though. I have to agree with you it feels somewhat premature. However it will be months rather than 'years' before you get that sinking your teeth feeling.

    I see your new this forum so  There are already threads to post your opinions of how you are enjoying/not enjoying the game which you can find by "search" or just checking the first couple of pages. Your initial impression are shared by many, however you might want to try adjusting the 'precision values' to help with the 'aimbot' problem. I only have the demo but I would't even play it until I made that adjustment. Now the firefights are far more interesting.

    The excellent SLX mod is coming out anyday so no, you will not have to wait 6 years. The real estate anology is false. Effects desired could be equated with house amenities, not it's foundation. The foundation of Arama is fine and will get better with tweaking.

    He's not asking for it to be in a mod, but to be in the game itself. You can't just join any multiplayer server with your favorite mod. Every time someone suggests a feature we have someone saying we'll have it in a mod. We know about mods already. "Modded in" isn't what is being asked for. The physics engine isn't related to this thread. Yeah I know what hes asking but the point is you can't have every feature you admire in other FPS implemented in the game. His request comes across like BIS promised these, imo, trivial features and therefore owe him that. If you read the 505 thread you'll see that BIS does read these forums and are adding far more important feature such as realistic armor values and a simplified AI scripter. Things that are very cool and important to a war sim, not "stock FPS"
  5. Thanks for the update Wondering who's tracer's are you using in this mod- they are really the best. I'm not really sure why but they just seem like real projectiles advancing rather than a laser beam of color. Hope they make the trip to ArmA as well.

    This thread is useless, as was stated, most to all of those effects you want plus many more will be modded in eventually. Flash&Bang Mods, Zombie Mods, Civil War Mods, Ultra-Realism Mods, CTI's, CTF's etc... Just be patient. Now if you had said a better physics engine...

Now, that would be counter-productive - why would they need a forum for then? - a free sandbox for raging closet-orators? A forum is an invaluable tool to collect feedback from end-users, don't you think? They keep their finger on the pulse of what are major issues to the community ie. the helo flight model, Â rather than smaller preferences ie. effects that can be modded.

    Although I'm a purist, I could live without all of those features except -suppressive fire. I know some people may not like the game forcing them to drop but I really find it exciting.IMO you should definitely be effected by gunfire all around you and it always seemed unrealistic to me when an enemy Ai acted liked he could care less that a gunner(s) has a bead on him. Especially if your taking out the fleeing/surrender feature.

    Is something burning? Oh, before you get flamed to death here by the defenders of All Things Sacred OFP, you have to remember that different aspects of games produce immersion for different people. Theres nothing wrong with the fact that BF2 does it for you, but they'll never do it for me. Some of those effects are cool, but they never upped the believabilty factor, kinda like candy for the eyes. To me, immersion happens from thoughtful, tactical planning and execution. From an unexpected 'crack' of a rifle and dirt kicking up near my person or stalking an enemy camp in the dark for 20 minutes before I make my move. Realism is immersion. As far as shellshock, blurred or impaired vision or hearing, many modders have implented these effects quite well, SLX and WGL to name a few and they are surely coming to an ArmA near you.

    Performance and fun in Demo Version

    I don't need to tweak my settings, I just put everything on very high. If i can't run this game with all settings on high or very high then there's something wrong with the game, not my PC. system spec, core 2 duo X6800 4GB Ram Quad Sli Nvidia 7950 GX2 On the demo version i get great FPS and it looks superb, but i just get some weird texture bugs that make it unplayable. I've now reinstalled the first build of the demo and everything runs fine again... It's definitley not your rig that things a beast! Runs fine at very high on mine: e6400 oc'ed 2.5 7900gs oc'ed 600/1.3 asus p5nsli 1 gig ram The fact that your getting video distortions sounds card related. Are they oc'ed? Did you try 1 card, latest forceware drivers?

    To the people who are playing ArmA, how is it?

    Just built a new PC: e6400 oc'ed to 2.5 asus p5nsli mobo 1 gig ddr2 ram 7900 gs oc'ed 600/1.3 With the new patch, this game (demo) runs outstanding. 40-50 fps on High. Load times very quick. One thing that I just noticed is how much the waypoint system is improved in urban. I couldn't believe it when I ordered a sniper to get on top of a tower, certain position and he did it- climbed a ladder all by himself taking out many fools from his great position. Also had a guy take a rooftop and call out enemies, something I always wanted in OFP. Have to agree with Fasad about the radio, way too robotic and loud, I play with headphones and sometimes I don't want to give orders so I wont get a headache. Overall- can't wait for the full game

    @Blazin   i can only speak for myself but I have found that 'silly little dive' to have saved my ass on many occassions. Especially when I'm targerted from multiple angles and outta ammo. Sure beats that "oh, i'm being shot at, let me take 3 seconds and go prone" animation.Two things I always thought OFP was missing was emotion (rage,panic) and explosive moves that surely soldiers IRL have to pull off to save their skin. It may be a little over the top but it's the closest thing without programming a 'scramble' feature. @Thunderbird84 Great news! I think I've aleady got both mods working 100% but if you can streamline the GL3 AI so it don't break missions that would be great. Good luck
  15. I think your talking about 'Bomberman' mission and thats happened to me also about 50% of the time. Pretty sure whats happening is that one of your backup squads engage the enemy too early so the tanks never leave opting to engage the enemy instead. You could try disabling the GL3 AI as that might prevent the premature engagement.

    @Baddo Thanks for the precision values! By lowering the enemy's skills, this game is much more enjoyable and I've actually suceeded in entering the town -haven't beaten yet, but I only tried like 3 times before because it's no fun playing against 'aimbots'. Also didn't realize you could gear your guys up before the mission  thats made the demo a whole lot more enjoyable.

    Winter Warfare Mod

    This looks nice. Perhaps WGL or SLX will make realistic Winter conditions as well, slippery traction, freezing soldiers "Two! Go to campfire, 9'oclock!!"
  18. Looks like my post got swallowed up by the void. The join feature did finally kick in surprisingly as I was playing VTE/SLX, a villager asked to join us after a brief firefight so I had him pick up a gun and he tagged along. Very cool! This could be great for mission makers. Some other villagers seemed like they were attempting hand to hand attacks on me so my men open-fired Thats what great about SLX -unpredictablity. Will you be releasing any of the weapon sway/suppression effects on your ArmA release? I think that will greatly help the enemy 'aimbot' problem.

    If your talking about a Celeron D (775 socket) you might be able to squeak by but a older Celeron's system L2 cache is just too low for quality gaming. Don't know much about your card but beefing up to at least to a gig ram would probably be a good idea.

    @ch_123 Yeah, I think your right bro, Intel Speedstep is in fact running. Phew, thats good news, went thru alot to get this system together and while I doubt I try OC'ing to 3 GHZ like many others, 2.4 (currently) I can definitely live with.

    Hi all, Finished building my new PC Specs-       intel 6400 @2.13 Ghz.       geforce 7900 GS       1 gig ddr2 ram       coolermaster fan       80 gig HD (my old one)       ASUS P5NSLI Mobo   First off there was no need for Windows CD as pretty much all the files transferred over smoothly except Windows is giving me 27 days to register.   My big question is my CPU. CPU-Z finds the core processor running @1600 MGz?!? This Mobo comes with quite a few OC features including AI overclock, but it always goes to this spec.Maybe a dumb question but is cpu-z just reading 1 of the cores? I've increased the fsb from 1000 to 1200 which has put the core at 1.8 GHZ. CPU-Z Reading: Core- 1.8 GHZ -sometimes flickers to 2.3 Muliplier- x6 Bus Speed:-300 Rated FSB- 1200 I'm not looking for mad overclock, but I'm worried if it's running this low. My FPS have greatly increased in both OFP (50-60 with FFUR/SLX) and ARMA Demo (30-40) but this is probably also due to my new graphics card. PCMark05 sees my system running at 2.4 GHZ

    Any idea as to what this is or how to fix it? Thanks! Make sure you have the GL3.PBO in your add-on folder. I had that error when using SLX with FFUR until I placed it in the FFUR add-on folder.
  24. Solus you've done it again. The enemy AI is just so dynamic, engaging and smart without having to be 'aimbots'. I've actually had enemies seek me out upstairs in a building and stab me in the back! Suppresion system is great a well although I have noticed the 'invisible target' bug as well -shooting in the opposite direction. Don't have ARMA quite yet ( lost in the mail ) but I look forward to what sick modding you're going to come up for that
