    Photoshopped?

Just look at the wheels, it's probably the only part that doesn't look real

    GC 2008 Press Coverage

Well, I don't want to argue abut one's likings, but firstly, the grass in ArmA, and as showed in ArmA 2 isn't that tall (even the "tall" one). Secondly, there isn't much of it. Let's compare it to this ofp2 pic. No matter if it's just a grass or cereal, imho it would be extremely cool both in SP and (especially) MP. It could actually help the AI, even if it didn't know how to "use" it properly. I completely don't understand why ppl wanted the grass to be shortened (well I do, but that's just one point of view), and would really like to see much taller grass on the ArmA 2 map. Near forests, or only at the cereal fields maybe?

There's a nice, tall grass on recent ofp2 pics. I wonder why the grass in Arma 2 pics is so short...I mean, it's not realistic unless it's a pasturage or any other kind of farming land. It's not just an eye-candy, it's important also from the tactical point of view, as it serves as a concealment, right?

    Men are not birds

That's exactly what caught my attention while watching that vid. Everything was cool, almost like watching tv, untill that funny moment.. If it's not a crapload of work (and of course a matter of wip), they should do something about it, because it looks awful.

    ARMA II - UH-1Y Venom In-Game Sounds

First of all, big thanks for this nice update. Secondly, the sounds are really great! With WarWolf's suggestions implemented ArmA 2 would have flight sim-like helo sounds, although I don't know if such details are needed, it's a big improvement anyway. Keep up the good work!

    ArmA 2 - Helo Ops (Add-on)

hello there m8...so, the idea isn't dying. Frankly, I don't know why aren't they doing something like that, maybe because of the lack of time... I would buy both tank and helo addons.

Micro AI on 2nd CPU ?

Isn't it a matter of HDD rather than CPU?
  10. yeah...as I said a couple of times before, I would wait for the game longer, and pay for it much more if they added more realism/details to the vehicles. That's why they could earn some extra money by making those expansions focused on vehicles...>>HINT!<<

Nice vids, everything looks good. Two things though: In the first one, you can see a team of AI soldiers in a formation. What annoys me is the fact that they still keep their precise possition within the formation, and behave like a flock of birds copying the leader's movements. If it's not just a matter of WIP, would be much better if every of them knew where they want to go and went there "on his own" keeping more or less within the formation, and also using cover on his own (kinda like every soldier was given a sparate order to get there)? The second thing is that the AI still rotate their whole bodies, instead of watching other directions by either moving their heads or torso. It still takes a while to spin around the whole body batman-style, and then start shooting. I really hoped for more full spectrum warrior...ish type of using cover and movement, but we'll probably have to wait a bit longer for that. Â just my thoughts, dunno how it's gonna look in the final game... edit: @dentist guba: you're right, it just looks bad

That's a good question. Is there a decent movie showing the AI? And why it seems to be worse than the AI from the old cqb vids?

@ W0lle: thx for the info. The vid was rather poor, especially the AI part (still chickens).

    Operation Flashpoint 2 officially announced

yeah...I'll try it, that's for sure. I wonder what about helos...
  22. funnyguy1

What small details would you like to see?

But isn't ArmA about serious gaming? I'd say ArmA is much more orientated towards the arcade style of gameplay than ofp...It really doesn't need more arcade parts. I would be really happy if they focused on the realism this time. Stock ArmA was in fact a CoD4 compared to the quality of mods for ofp...Now when it's modded to meet the realism needs of many players, the out of the box missions (apart from being rather poor from the beginning) seem even worse, or sometimes unplayable.

PC Discussion Thread - All PC related in here.

Well, I bought this shiny new compal fl90 notebook a month ago, and now the lcd panel is broken (lower right corner of it). The thing is, I unfortunately wasn't present when it got wasted, so I need a lil help with that. My little bro (who is a geek btw, so he knows how to handle computer hardware) was watching a movie with his friends on my rig pluged to a tv. I gave them the notebook, pluged it in, and went doing stuff on the pc. After an hour, my bro comes to me and says the lcd is f*cked up. (It was closed all the time while they'were watching the movie, and when he opened it up again there was a crack in the lower right corner of the lcd, with the liquid apparently not where it was designed to be...) I examined that, and realised there's no sign of a scratch on the screen's surface (you know, the first layer, which isn't the lcd's matrix right?) and it's just wasted on the inside. Apart from the wasted part the screen works perfectly fine. Now, my brother claims, and I have no reason not to believe him, that there was absolutely nothing on the notebook while he was closing it, and ofcourse nothing there while he opened it up again, while the salesman say's it's my fault, and I'll have to pay for the new lcd. There were 9 ppl there with my bro, wathing that movie, everybody confirms my bro's version. I've no idea...there was a powerfull subwoofer there, but I've played with this laptop pluged to that tv many times before, longer than just an hour, and nothing happened. Has anybody had similar problem with any laptop?
  24. Well, it's certainly not the most important feature, but a pretty cool one...ability to simulate your own death. At least it works well in unreal tournament

    U.S. Army practicing by playing.

The modern battlefield itself is becoming more and more a computer game, so it's not that simple. Even before the VBS flight sims were used, I'm not sure about steel beasts though. It has no application for actual training? How do you want to train a Predator operator then? Even as a gamer, I can see some benefits of spending hours playing simulators...those guys probably know what they're doing. It's good even as a form of entertainment, kinda "learning while playing" thing.
