http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?63053-New-interview-with-Maruk&p=1094515#post1094515 I got a fair amount of flack for that suggestion, it's nice to have some vindication. Congratulations to everyone that made it happen.

BI Developer's Blog: An interesting new entry
efefia replied to Undeceived's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
BIS making a milsim, in a persistant world... that's my idea of bliss! I'd still want a single player game though personally. I think any prospect of an mmo has been ruled out by a dev recently anyway. -
Game freezes at same point every time
efefia replied to Cobra5's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I've just had this, exactly the same point, in the same mission. All drivers up to date and on patch 1.57. If it helps diagnose the problem, my screen isn't entirely blank, the loading bar appears at the bottom but is dimmer than it would be if anything were actually loading. Looks like a corrupt load to me, obviously as it's hanging on a load screen of some sort the endmission cheat isn't possible. -
British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update
efefia replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Pretty much the same, the major difference being the WAH-64 inclusion of the more powerful Rolls Royce engine. Unfortunately the US designed transmission system can't utilise the extra power so performance remains pretty much the same. OT, congratulations BIS for an excellent addition to the ArmA family. BAF is superb and worth every penny. -
http://brokentoys.org/2010/08/02/xfire-acquired-neglects-to-keep-people-who-made-xfire/ Having been a huge fan of Xfire I was saddened to see this news, I think it's prudent to let as many people as possible know about this. I'm going to give it a couple of weeks, wait and see what happens but I would expect the new management to start selling email address' along with gamers stats.

Xfire: Now includes fix for ArmA2 compatibility
efefia replied to alef's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I've been a huge fan/supporter of xfire for the best part of 5 years now, I think people should be made aware of this development though. http://brokentoys.org/2010/08/02/xfire-acquired-neglects-to-keep-people-who-made-xfire/ -
British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update
efefia replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
ArmA tempered my enthusiasm, ArmA:QG slightly restored my faith, ArmA 2 once stable gave glimpses of what I've been missing since OFP, OA restored my faith in BIS fully.... this DLC is going to make me don my BIS fanboi cap again for the first time since OFP:R. Well done gents, I haven't looked forward to DLC in any game as much as this. -
The warfare stuff is a fine example of a big idea gone slightly awry, definately the biggest mistake BIS have made imo. When you've got a community of players enjoying and thriving on the grunt experience it doesn't really make a lot of sense to throw them headfirst into sn RTS style micromanagement nightmare at the end of a great single player experience. I think it's under-estimated just how much fun it was to pile out of the back of a truck as just another face in the crowd, trying to stay in formation under fire, seeing countless other grunts eaither side on your flanks scrambling around.

ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead discussion thread
efefia replied to Tonci87's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
That was a true gaming highlight for anyone that played the game. I think what I like is the way that dynamic events occur in BIS' games, you can play the same missions over and over in different ways and the course of events and outcome will rarely be the same. I remember one of the early missions in ArmA, leading a couple of stryker and a couple of hummer's (from memory) out of the airfield up to the coast road, the first time I played it I was probably a little too cautious and the Russian armour ended up pinning me down, what ensued was a game of cat and mouse for what seemed like an age. I'd lost the styrker, was down to 3 or 4 men and it was looking grim when I hear a distant rumble, one of the BMP's blew and directly overhead swept an AV8-B, to cheers from me that I can't repeat without breaking forum rules. Downside was it was 1am and I managed to wake my neighbours lol -

Congrats to all at BIS, I've been with you all every step of the way since OFP, I found ArmA disappointing, ArmA 2 was fun at times but not consistently enough..... a few hours into OA now and I can honestly say I haven't had this much fun with an expansion in any game, in any genre since OFP:R Keep up the good work! -
Steam are at the mercy of the distributors, I assume that'd be Atari again for them in this instance. They had the exact same problem with Activision not releasing EU CD-Keys for the new Transformers game last week (they still haven't got that game available to EU customers even now)

Placebo, you need to have a word in someone's ear. The Sprocket.exe took 10 minutes to download (all 344k of it), download from the sprocket.exe holds at around 312kbps, using the direct links results in a download speed of 25kbps. I understand it'll be seeing some heavy traffic but this is exactly what happened when I purchased ArmA/QG through Sprocket. Although i'm not on the best connection here, speedtest.net verifies 9mb connection and Steam trundles along at 917kbps so i very much doubt it's my connection.
-
How's the d/l speeds for people ordering through Sprocket? It would be my preferred choice but it's just taken me 5 minutes to load the page, I guess it's getting battered with a massive increase in traffic at the moment but I'd rather go Steam if it means I can d/l in hours rather than days.

So I made the system requirements up did I? uh, no they're from the back of the damn box. I'll be back to revisit this thread when AC 2's system req's are up to give you some more FACTS, until then. Ciao. ---------- Post added at 12:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:15 AM ---------- From the article: "We equipped our test PC with high-end components, a GeForce 280 GTX, and a quad-core Intel Core 2 CPU." you did nothing but reinforce my point, thanks...next?

You've not even presented a coherent argument or attempted to answer my statement with any facts of your own. My post included FACTS, who's deluded? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KW0zvBjG918 Name a PC game with visuals as good as Assassins Creed (2) that can run on a 3 year old mid range PC. It should be an easy task given your above ridiculous statement.
