Why "of course"? By default the Draw Distance is set 5 times lower. 99% of PCs cannot run the game smoothly at such a large view distance. The fact is that you don't really need 10km to enjoy the game. As infantry, 2km is more than sufficient. Its more important that the game runs smoothly (>25 fps), particularly as the game lowers AI's intelligence when the framerates drop too low. Here are a few tips on how to get OA running smooth and looking sweet: http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=2029167&postcount=8 If after that you STILL don't get decent framemrates, get a faster CPU and/or try the Dynamic View Distance mod

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.

I beg to differ. While possible, I believe that +1GPU = +100% FPS to be an exception rather than the rule. -

I think that for any game you can safely say that any card past the 1st will follow a law of diminishing returns. I strongly suspect that any spare cash could be put to better use else where in your rig. -
What a great series. It oozed attention to detail. It focused on conflicts that are often overlooked. It also offered several innovative features. I must admit that the witner camo is VERY welcome. I can't wait to try some Norwegian resistance type missions. Now if only we had a telemark mod...

I'm very impressed with the video but I can't help wondering whether focusing on fighter aircraft is worthy investment of your meagre resources. While I'm all for more content, I think its fair to say that A2 is an infantry simulator above all else. It smells a little like mission creep. Of course, if we do have the reources for more aircraft I dream of Lysanders dropping/picking-up SOE operatives, dropping/recovering arms & munitions from Halifaxes, parachuting Jedburghs from Carpetbaggers (black B-24s & C47s), etc.

If no-one can upload the latest version (b168?), could someone email it to me? The previous version (b167) zipped up is less than 400kb. -
Ghost Recon - Island Thunder campaign

I think Lightspeed has been busy and he's prolly also waiting for Icebreaker to release his much-anticipated update for Lingor -
Hi, Last night a mate and I played the PMC campaign. Although it was fun it was irritating to discover that the "resume" feature (which appears to be quick-save) didn't work. What I mean is that our progress in the campaign was correctly saved, i.e. once we finished a mission it registered as completed. However within a mission, despite the game auto-saving on several occasions and despite me manually saving the game, we were never able to resume at any of these points. Has this occured to anyone else? Is there a solution?

Metalcraze: I had suspected that the improvements afforded by the recent betas might compromise, conflict or even obsolete certain pbos from SLX. So would suggest disabling these pbos? SLX_AI (replaces A2 danger.fsm to improve AI reactions. Requires SLX_FindCover) SLX_FindCover (AI utility functions for finding cover and making AI's make a course diversion then continue on to their original destination) SLX_AI_Dodge (resource for SLX_AI and SLX_ShotEffects. Makes AIs do evasive moves towards cover) And have you found any others which are best left out given the recent betas?

COSLX - An updated version of the original SLX Mod
domokun replied to Gunter Severloh's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
AFAIK Robalo's ASR AI works with SLX out of the box. It's really VERY good and goes a long way to solving the AI's accuracy problems (b ydefault they're FAR too accurate). GL4 exerts much more influence over AI than ASR and hasn't been updated in over a year. I'd therefore advise against using GL4, unless you're willing to tailor it to your tastes (it's highly configurable). I also have WarFX Particles, JSRS, and Mando Missile Mod installed alongside COSLX and all seem to play nicely with each other. Though, to be fair, I've disabled most of the visual and audio effects from SLX just to be sure. -

Exactly. I can provide a server if people want to avoid time-limited or bandwidth limited hosters. Looking forward to the next stable version! -

Any chance someone could upload the latest CBA (Build 168) ? As I can't seem to download it from the ACE 1.12 Update 2 page on DevHeaven and we don't use SixUpdater [fireproof suit/on] -
COSLX - An updated version of the original SLX Mod
domokun replied to Gunter Severloh's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
After several hours of testing this weekend, overall great work! A few remarks nonetheless: slx_bis_bc_fix: causes occasional pauses => after the recent slew of beta patches, do we still need this? slx_bis_xeh: causes regular(!) pauses => likewise, do we really need this? slx_mgreload: seems works fine => add it back to COSLX? slx_wounds: requires slx_FindCover => add this dependancy to the readme in the first post? slx_uav: appears to conflict with BAF mission Concrete Oasis (option to switch to UAV disappears!) => disable this pbo? plus I don't see what it adds... More testing tonight... And MP testing on Wed. -

The download link in the first post (on Dev Heaven) now requires you to login. Could anyone correct it and/or point me to an alternative download? -
Wouldn't it be great if you could simply select a medic in your team and if you moved your cursor onto an injured man (friendly or not) he would heal him? Otherwise its a case of Fx (where X is the number of your medic), 6 (Action), Y (whatever the number is). Afterall there are other examples of contextual commands (cursor on vehicle = mount). Does anyone know if this is possible? Or if there is a mod that enables this?

OK I stand corrected. I don't know why I couldnt't get it to work earlier...

A.C.R.E - Advanced Combat Radio Environment - 1.3 Stable - Release Thread
domokun replied to noubernou's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Hi after waiting for months for this mod to reach maturiy, I've taken the plunge. I've managed to install it correctly (I think) on my client. The next step is to get my clan to install it and test in a MP environment. However I have 2 questions: - Can the TS3 server run on a seperate machine to the OA server? - Also, does the TS3 plugin only have to be installed on clients? Or does the server also require it?
