    If BI's record (OFP, A1 & A2) is to be believed, it will require months of patching for A3 to reach quality comparable its predecessor. I hope BI prove me wrong ;)

  4. Looks great except that some of the hedgerows and tree-lined roads appear a little too straight. I know there are Roman roads in Kent but still... Also, the Russian Orthodox church looks somewhat out of place. Maybe you could "borrow" a Norman church from the i44 mod. Personally I can't wait for this, I can just imagine an alternative reality mission where Operation Sealion actually succeeded and you can fight in the desperate campaign of Home Guard against advancing Wehrmacht forces, sprinkled with Fallschirmjäger.
  5. @emeraldelbow: no idea where you are situated but I'm guessing US so, a 5-min check reveals that Combined Operations (Arma2+Operation Arrowhead): Sprocket (BI's own online store): €25 ($33) Amazon US: $33 Otherwise try GetGames, Steam, Froogle, FleaBay and all the usual suspects. Eating more veg is always good (health, budget & environment).

  7. Last night we played your mission and found that it was great fun even though there were only 4 of us. Here are a couple of remarks: - original intro but some of the paratroopers seem to drop to their death (parachutes do not appear to open) - voice acting is good, but somewhat obscured by the partisans' song playing in the background - welcome variety of opponents - maybe too many objectives to be realistic - the wreck of the B17 seems a little too close to a urban environment (surely the pilots would have tried to land in open fields, nearer or in the countryside) Overall a great mission that provided us with 2 hours of excitement and pandemonium

  11. Actually I think SLX_wounds only needs slx_findcover. IIRC SLX_wounds doesn't need SLX_NetCode or SLX_Shout. So I think that there's an very misleading error in the readme. Incidentally, has anyone found a way to resolve the "double first aid entry" in the in-game menu?
  12. For most OA users, SLI/CF are not good value for money, because OA is a CPU limited game. In fact, this CPU bottleneck (rather than GPU limitation), is commonplace among simulators. But AMD/Nvidia marketing like to seduce customers with simple slogans, where x2 GPUs = x2 power... However, we also need to recognise that its much easier and cheaper to install a new GPU than a new CPU (where generally you have to replace your motherboard & RAM).
  13. @Leopardi: did you try the settings that I recommended in my earlier post? Because if you read them, you'd see that it includes this suggestion as well as how to implement it.
  14. @Neo: thx for the feedback but that doesn't sound very realistic at all. Unless the mi-8 was less than 1km from the prison at the time of the breakout and even then... I'm all for air power making grunts' lives miserable but this seems pretty ridiculous.

  16. Has the difficulty been increased in the latest version? Because we got absolutely reamed last night. 6-7 times it was a disaster at each attempt. It seems like an mi-8 would be on us within minutes. It would then hound us, seemingly reporting our position to every unit in the area. Unless we hijack a car to outrun the mi-8 and/or purloin a Strela, we are doomed to death by door gunner...

  20. Last month I upgraded to a 7850 from a 4890. Apart from a 25% increase in framerates, the card draws less power and generates less heat. So I was happy. However last night I tried to activate FXAA by editing the ArmaOA.cfg and changing the parameter PPAA=0 to PPAA=1. Much to my surprise and disappointment this led to a black screen. The menu is visible but the 3d render behind is all black. FYI I'm running 12.3 Cats on Win7-64. Any ideas?
  21. MadDog: looks like you're right, only SMAA works (via PPAA=3), i.e. FXAA doesn't work... VirtualVikingX: I tried everything from disabling V-Sync in .cfg, in Cat CC, both, neither and nothing worked So for the moment I'm sticking with SMAA at High (PPPA=3, PPAA_Level=2).
  22. I haven't trued PPAA=3 but I tried with PPAA=1, PPAA_Level=0 as well as PPAA=1, PPAA_Level=1. Both of these combinations gave me a black screen. I'll try PPAA=3 tonight.
  23. I'm with you there! Given the small size of the island, I'd severely restrict the number and use of helicopters (you can fly across the entire island in a couple of minutes). I really like the 3-way power struggle that you've setup (incumbent, rebels & narco). Once the units are released I'll have a poke and see if I can't come up with an original, coherent and interesting campaign.
  24. I concur Amnesty's findings, we also have encountered massive lag spikes with this mission that we do not experience with other missions.
