    RHS: Status Quo

Greetings from the RHS Team! Today we would like to announce a new chapter for Red Hammer Studios. With almost 20 years (May 2023 birthday) of Flashpoint and Arma development behind our back it is time to explore the newest additions to the game family: Reforger and in the grand scheme of things the Enfusion engine. For the last few months we have been exploring its capabilities and are quite blown away, especially when compared to the RV engine and definitely see a bright future for the platform and for its fans. For us, the new opportunities in improving the quality of our content are readily apparent and thus it is time to reveal our next project: RHS: Status Quo Bear with us, it is a working title 🙂 but for now it will do. What you CAN do meanwhile already is grab the first work in progress versions of the mod on the Reforger Workshop! Just look for the title and download. We have already ported and remade some assets that fit the quality bill of Reforger to test out the workflow. So what is it going to be about? Well after quite some internal discussions and based on some polls we settled to remain in the contemporary sphere of things: 2000 - present with the main core around 2017 with US and RF taking center stage. We do intend to put some focus on a story this time around, but for that we need your help (see recruitment below). Also stay tuned for information on a brand new terrain in development! As of now we have developed a small priority list for what we call Phase 1 which should bring the mod to 1.0 status hopefully sometime this year. But keep in mind that with this new engine our focus is on quality and not quantity, so it will take years, if ever, when we could reach the same amount of assets as we had for Arma 3. What we do not intend to do is bring over assets that do not meet the high standards of the PBR enfusion workflow from our legacy developments. We are now working out the details also on bringing our development pipeline to fully automated state, and the intent is to have 2 parallel versions of the mod on workshop: a continuously deployed development version and a stable one, much like we had with Arma 3. One other thing that is different is that the aim now is to keep all factions in one mod. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Now the recruitment bit 🙂 To make this happen we certainly need more new talent! Please consider dropping us a line if you would like to try out for the team in the following capacities if your profile matches: - Asset creators: you are detail driven, accuracy matters to you, you are strong in HP/LP baking workflows for current generation PBR engines, you are familiar with Substance Painter. -> Hard surface: Weapons, objects, architecture, attachments etc. -> Uniforms, gear -> Marvelous Designer knowledge is a big plus. - Texture artists: you are detail driven, accuracy matters to you, perhaps you do not model yourself but are able to turn HP/LP models of others into stunning artwork in Substance Painter. - Animators: you are familiar with skinning and animations in any tool that is able to export to Enfusion (max, blender, maya etc.). This involves both hardsurface (weapons/vehicles) animation as well as characters. - Producers: help our team inject the assets into the game, configure the models, produce copy, zero the sights etc. This helps us enourmosly! Especially if you are a bit familiar already with Enfusion Workbench. - Writers: do you have some experience in developing exciting stories? Especially if you have experience in writing for games. - Web developers: a new project begs to have a proper new web home. We are looking specifically for front end UI/UX experts that can design as well as implement. Tech is not so important but naturally HTML and CSS is a must with probable Javascript/Typescript knowledge. But things like Blazor are also cool. There will be a chance to collaborate on the backend which will probably be written in C# ASP NET Core. If you feel up to the job please contact @soul_assassin or @PuFu on these forums, but please only serious applicant need apply. What about Arma 3? Currently, there are still plans to do one last major stable release of all mods for Arma 3, but with limited resources it is hard to say when that will happen. Eventually though, it is envisioned that most development effort will go into Enfusion projects. RHS Team
