  1. Hi Folks,

     

    Playing with this today with SOG - FYI - the HALO Jump Module seems broken - when I jump solo I get two chutes one on me and one empty chute like 20 meters away. When I jump with my squad I die whenever I open my chute - I think there is still another empty chute present.

    Hi Folks,

     

    I must be doing something wrong - I don't see any indication where "ALiVE SOG Prairie Fire Compositions" changes anything.

     

    I plug in the FACTION names into the ALiVE modules - just as I always do - and all I get are vanilla assets.

     

    I know ALiVE requires something special - as FACTIONS always need to be made compatible to work with ALiVE.

     

    Nothing new is on the ALiVE WIKI regarding SOG. I don't think the pages are kept up to date any longer.

    ALiVE Supported Factions

     

    SOG Civilians: "C_VIET"

    SOG VC: "O_VC"

    SOG MACV: "B_MACV"

     

    Any ideas?

    Been AWOL for a while - I've seen it mentioned/alluded to here that there were some updates to PKL possibly released ? Is that so - the timestamp on Steam still shows 2017 - if there have been updates since that are available elsewhere - could someone give me a vector ?

     

    Some mighty fine looking screenshots there - simply magical...

  5. Hi Folks,

     

    Yeah - I did the memory upgrade slow vs fast - midlife - on my last box - (2700K @ 4.7 Ghz) - and honestly - it did make a noticeable difference with Arma... The OC is still king of bang for your buck on performance though...

     

    I built my new box over the last year and half of gathering parts - mainly due to the massive run on high end video cards by the bitcoin miners - finally brought her online a couple weeks ago... I also tried to keep costs reasonable... Not the latest and greatest - but - she should serve me well... My first CPU delid and it seems well worth the extra effort  (7700K's are notoriously "hot" chips) - clocked it at 5 Ghz - haven't seen it exceed 65C during stress tests - thanks Noctua... I'll probably clock it a bit higher...

    First off - looks absolutely fantastic.

     

    Two questions:

    • This replaces the old Project OPFOR - correct - I can delete the old one ?
    • Without going through the 215 pages - are their any images for the planned Latin American factions ?

  7. Hi Folks,

     

    I'm setting up a new build with Arma 3 and since I'm testing - I'm trying to use a Logitech F310 game pad as the controls. Eventually - I'll get my full HOTAS moved over from my old box which I've used for years with tons of custom mappings. I see the Logitech F310 in the control setup and it's enabled - but apparently it has a "canned" map and I can't seem to change them in the settings ?

     

    Is this the case or am I missing something ?

  8. Despite many efforts from some of you I am not gonna buy it al all, arma3 has no authentic vehicles, airplanes and chopers or weapons.

     

    Maybe just a few but the majority are fake/fictional such as the A-10D, what is that? Comon, and the new F18?

    These fast movers will never exist , the a-10c will soon end its life and there is no replacement or upgrades, and the f18 already is semi-new with the F/A 18 superhornet.

     

    What about the faction? Iran in Greece ?Wearing super-alien-technological suits??....it's not gonna happen.

     

    With the introduction of futurustic scenario ARMA series has been totaly killed.

     

    I’ve used ArmA since II - I’ve never taken more than a cursory look at vanilla - I have absolutely no interest in futuristic imagined warfare with fictional factions... I stick with current day RHS/BAF content - Unsung Vietnam content - and Iron Front/FOW WWII content - and I’ve been more than happy with it...

    If someone has a few minutes - I could use a little helping hand with ORBAT with some of the undocumented features... Starting to dive in pretty deep with this fantastic tool...

     

    ORBAT ALiVE: If I automatically close the ORBAT interface during an editing session (staying within the launched mission) - is there a way to open it again without losing my work .

     

    As per the ALiVE Wiki: [if you close the tool by pressing the escape key, you can reopen the interface via the ALiVE interaction menu by selecting “ORBAT Creator”].

     

    I can’t seem to get that to work..

     

    ORBAT ALiVE: How do I use the “Create File” and “Create Image” features that have been added to the tool since the tutorial were made ? Does the ORBAT tool write files somewhere directly negating the need for the GitHhub Template ? If so - where ?

     

    ORBAT ALiVE: When creating motorized or mechanized infantry - do I include the vehicle, crew, and mounted squad in the same group ? The mounted squad will mount and up mount automatically when needed ?

     

    ORBAT ALiVE: When creating a new unit [unit Editor] - the first dialog - last field is something like unit type - this allows you to select an existing unit type like “Rifleman” or “Medic” but doesn’t allow you to type in the box - what if I delete all the original types and want to create a new one - is there a way to do it ?

     

    ORBAT ALiVE: Is there a way to control which face is assigned to infantry - one group may need a certain skin color - and my special forces groups should have painted faces - can I achieve that with this tool ?

     

    Generic ALiVE - the logistics module under the OPCOM still seems to have resupply helicopters hover indefinitely over the resupply point...

     

    Generic ALiVE - the players logistics module seems broken - while I can make the request selecting the desired items - nothing is ever delivered and when I check status there is no delivery scheduled - the same happens with either of the the three delivery types...

  10. I haven't played around with  the newest version just yet but if I am not mistaken the image portion will be for the various units so that when you are in the editor you can see what they look like for your faction like the "badge" part from RHS, CUP, etc...

    Hmm - I could have swore I used to get a message stating if you closed the ORBAT editor while in an editing session - you could hit such and such key to get back into it... I don’t see it anymore...

    Yeah - sorry - never know if I should just add to the long mod thread or start my own...

     

    Trying to put together some factions appropriate for the US Grenada invasion (1980’s Urgent Fury)- combining RHS and CUP with a little poetic license to make of for some missing assets...

     

    I found the files on GitHub - so I’m good there - still curious on the others...

    Couple questions - noticed a new option in ORBAT to “write files” and “create images” - does this negate the need to download the config files from Github and if so - where does it “write” these files ? I can’t seem to find any documentation on how to use this new feature and the tutorial videos were before they existed...
     
    Can’t seem to find the old files on Github either - would someone have a link in case I do in fact need them ?
     
    If I accidentally exit the ORBAT creator before I’m done - what’s the default key to get back into ORBAT without losing my work ?
