ACE3 - A collaborative merger between AGM, CSE, and ACE
IICptMillerII replied to acemod's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Some friends and I are having an issue with ACE3 in its current build. For some reason we cannot get the interaction menu or self interaction menu working. We have turned all other mods off and just have ACE3 and CBA running but the interaction menus still arent working for us. Does anyone know why this is? Is it a known bug or is something else going on? Any help would be appreciated! -
Operation Trebuchet - Total conversion mod for Arma 3
IICptMillerII replied to thedog88's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Yikes, lots of bugs. The warthog needs some serious attention. The thing rolls over more than it drives in a straight line, and its handling is pretty poor as well. Not sure why the warthog was messed with because in .12 of TEI it was pretty good, at the least it was better than it is now. Any part of the wheels that are not in direct contact with the ground (the bottom of the wheels) are extremely sticky. If you hit an incline going any speed, you are stopped instantly and usually flip over, because the current warthog has the mass of a bag of marsh mellows. The sniper rifle is very low quality texture, the bipod does not work (doesn't flip down when deployed) and the scope has some texture issues, specifically with the yellow lens on the front. Its way too bright. It also sounds nothing like the sniper rifle from any of the Halo games, which is odd because I thought attempts were being made to give the weapons similar sound effects, like what the assault rifle has now. The smoke from the pelicans thrusters needs to be removes. Its rather silly, and doesn't show up in any of the Halo games. Right now the smoke coming out of the side thrusters is blown to the sides and it looks pretty silly. Really hope this hotfix thats being talked about is released soon and addresses a whole lot of issues, because as it is right now this is a step backwards for the mod. -
Operation Trebuchet - Total conversion mod for Arma 3

Oh man, who else is excited for a mod that has already been released to be released... (wait for it) ...again?!?!?! Plus this time we get the benefit of waiting all over again! (again!) I mean everyone always says the best part of anything you are looking forward to is the wait, am I right? So lets all strap (on?) in and have a ton of fun waiting some more for those shiny new paintjobs! I just hope that the release date is listed as Soonâ„¢ I think that really helps to build even more anticipation. The more waiting fun the better! -

This is my response to the matter that has just recently been brought to my attention concerning the future of this mod. Wow... Just wow. I'm not sure where to even begin. I was looking forward to this mod for so long. Halo is one of my favorite stories. I fell in love with the games a long time ago, and discovered the books shortly after and was beyond hooked. Similarly I've been a huge fan of Arma for a long time now as well. When I saw that two things that I greatly enjoy were being merged, I was ecstatic. I was so excited for the release of this mod. I watched the forums on a daily (hourly at times when I could) basis. I re-read some of my favorite Halo books, listened to my favorite Halo songs and just generally immersed myself in all things Halo. The first release was tough wait, but when it finally (FINALLY) dropped it was fantastic. The quick support and bug fixes that came out soon after were even more amazing. The support for this mod was fantastic, both from the devs and the community. Aaaand now we are here. I don't know the full details on what happened, and I'm not sure I want to know. What I do know is that I am upset and angry. It appears to me that what happened was very childish. Some developers weren't getting along with another, so they pulled their assets in a tissy-fit ("You don't agree with me? Fine! You can't play with my toys!" Seriously? Pathetic) and are now making a new 'mod' called Operation Trebuchet. So now, after waiting for nearly a year for a Halo mod release, we now have to wait again another unknown amount of time for a new 'team' to release a 'new' mod. Ridiculous. Now I know its going to come up. "What have you contributed?" and "These people are making something for you, you entitled jerk!" It goes both ways. I 'contribute' by showing my support, by downloading and playing the mod, and then advertising it by sharing videos, pictures, and stories to other people telling of my experiences. All this leads to an increased fan base and more support for the developers. If you believe me to be entitled, then you have missed my point completely. Space: I really liked what you were able to do in the time you had. You got a team together and developed this mod, learning as you went and you made some seriously awesome results. A lot of people got really excited for Arma 3 and your mod, and that is something I think you can appreciate. From what I understand of the situation, it seems like you got the short end of the stick which is really too bad, for both you and the community. You didn't deserve to see the mod you worked hard on get stolen out from under you like the way it seems it was. I'll be sure to keep up with your planned work for the future as I'm sure it will be similar in quality to TEI and I hope that things develop into a better situation for you for future projects. Well I think thats it for me. Now all there is left for me to do is learn some basic modding skills so I can modify some of the little things in TEI to increase the longevity of it for my friends and I. Reach was glassed, but the fight didn't end there. -

Awesome! I think that the ODSTs already look really good, so the idea of them getting even better is pretty sweet. Looking forward to it! Ah ok so it is a bug of sorts. Glad to know that it will be addressed at some point. Thanks for the feedback -

+1, I'm a big fan of Jester and his vids. He really shows some of the awesome potential of Arma. Looking forward to more vids from him using TEI. On a different note, I was using the Rocket Launcher the other day and I noticed that it has some pretty drastic drop when using the HEAT and HEAP rounds. I was wondering if this is intentional or a known error? If it is intentional then it may want to be revisited, because currently you have to aim very high above a target just to engage it at ranges out to 75 meters or so. I personally think it is a bit much, and that the ballistics should be revisited. Not a priority issue at all, but something that could be looked into at some point. -

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but I'm pretty sure that picture is a fan made picture, probably from deviantart. There are a lot of pictures out there like that and while they are cool, they aren't canon. AFAIK there are no canon attachments to the MA5B, unless you are counting the in weapon mounted light or the grenade launcher. Edited for spelling -

Congrats on the release!!! Loaded it up and gave it a try and I have to say it is pretty amazing what you guys have been able to do from scratch. Way better than I could ever hope to do for sure. I wanted to get in some kind words before the slew of posts about various bugs inevitably hits. I know that it can be discouraging to have people bombarding you with "this is wrong, that is broken" type posts, so I wanted to let you guys know before that all starts that you have created something pretty awesome for just a bunch of guys with an idea trying and figuring things out as they go. Bravo on a job well done! I will go on a bug hunt at some point this weekend and try to get you guys quality, constructive feedback. You sure deserve it, and I would love to give back to this project in any small way that I can. But for now I'm just going to enjoy the new toys and play around with them. Thanks again! -

Everything looks so fantastic. I have a quick question about the armor, specifically the camo underneath. Are you still planning on giving us 3 underlying camo patterns? (desert, woodland and vanilla/OD) In the video it appears that the player character is wearing a woodland camo pattern underneath. Just curious! Keep up the fantastic work! -

Those all look amazing. The artsy touch was very cool as well. Just wondering, are all the soldiers shown wearing the UNSC Army trooper armor, or is it a mix? Looks really fantastic. Can't wait to get my hands on the assault rifle -

Chernarussian Defence Forces A3 - CDF_A3
IICptMillerII replied to evromalarkey's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I've also encountered this bug, both with the CDF pack and the Takistan Army pack. ALiVE spawns the correct vehicles (and mechanized troops spawned in BTRs have the correct uniforms on) but all infantry units spawned in the world outside of vehicles have the correct weapons, but wear CSAT uniforms. Has any kind of solution been found for this yet? Is it possible that it is an issue with ALiVE? If you need additional information, I can provide screenshots. -

Thats ok on the pants. As I mentioned before its such a minor thing for me. I'm just glad that we have the Takistan army in game now. Thanks for the replacement config! If I alter it I'll be sure to let you know, maybe it'll save you a bit of work down the line. -

Mother of pearl, the thrusters move... That is truly a thing of beauty. I cannot wait to see those bad boys flying overhead, or better yet hitching a ride with one into battle. Seriously, every picture is better than the last. I apologize for my blatant fanboy-isms haha. Very excited for this. Just a quick question, I'm assuming that the overall texture for the Pelican is still WIP? For instance the cockpit canopy looks like its possibly missing a texture due to the fact that in the picture it looks completely grey. Not criticizing or trying to put a time squeeze on you guys, just curious if it is indeed a WIP texture or just a funny solar glare effect. Regardless of the technicalities, the Pelican looks absolutely amazing, and those thruster animations are really top notch. Keep it up! -

IICptMillerII replied to evromalarkey's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I've been playing around with the new units all night in the editor and I'm having a blast. Thanks again for this awesome mod! I have one quick question: Would it be possible to make an optional config to equip the Takistan soldiers with the HLC AKs? I understand that you are most likely busy with other things, so any pointers on how I could go about doing this myself would be greatly appreciated. If for whatever reason it is not possible then that is completely fine. The mod is still awesome. I only ask because I was using both the HLC AKM and the AK74 and they look pretty awesome with your Taki units. Regardless, this faction pack is really fantastic, and I will most definitely be using it in some ALiVE missions with friends. Can't wait for any more faction packs you may be working on and for possible updates to the Taki and CDF packs! Thanks again! -

All? No idea where you got the idea that I think all modders are annoying. In fact all of the links I've been posting have been quite the opposite. I really appreciate the work that people are doing for the community members such as myself. Must I list more examples of mods/modders who I think are doing an incredible job? I might as well, seeing as its more free advertising for those mods. The Eridanus Insurrection: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?177321-The-Eridanus-Insurrection-An-Arma-3-Total-Modication I've been following this mod for months now. In fact (since you brought up my relatively young forum age of 8 weeks) this is the mod that made me finally create a real forum account here. I did it primarily to show my praise and excitement for the work they are doing on that mod. It's my most anticipated mod for Arma 3, and possibly of the entire Arma franchise (well, at least since I've been playing dating back to Arma: Armed Assault. I have played OFP but my starting point was Armed Assault) These guys have literally made everything from scratch within the Arma 3 engine and it looks fantastic. There are other mods that I could list that I enjoy for Arma 3 (AGM, HLC, and RH weapon packs to name a few) but I'll refrain from over saturating my posts with more links and praise for mods that have different threads. My original post I made an hour or so ago was meant to bring the conversation about politics back into the realm of Arma modding, specifically in relation to this OPFOR pack, which I do like. I just think that instead of arguing over politics, we could try refocusing on other aspects of the mod, such as how I think (and this is my own personal opinion. I'm surprised that I have to add this disclaimer but it seems that already a few of you have taken my posts the wrong way. Now that is annoying...) this pack really needs some dirty, busted up old technicals (at least for the Taliban/guerrilla factions) to add to the immersion and for the mod to keep pace with others. So, trying to get back on track again and stay on topic, I think that this pack is good and has a lot of potential. For me, I would like to see vehicles more in line with what the guerrilla factions in the Middle East currently have the best access to, and some love given to a few of the other factions (specifically the ChDKz which to me just look like the Arma 3 FIA with different weapons) @AccuracyThruVolume: Thats a pretty good picture. Although notice how they are dirty, unlike the Arma 3 pickups which are generally shiny and brightly colored (whether it be wear and tear or intentional camouflage on the pictured vehicles) they are missing parts/chunks, and they do not have a .50 cal strapped to the back, but what looks like a DShK and some other Eastern bloc looking weapons. So your picture illustrates more of the look/feel that I would like to see. Again this is all just my opinion. If you want to rage, go ahead. BTW Defunkt, your picture/avatar is hilarious

No problem: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=28089 http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=28120 Two quality packs. Proper factions with quality reskins (not another painted AAF uniform) proper vehicles (some coming from the very good RDS pack, others from the very good RHS mod) great infantry organized into the groups they were in in Arma 2 (although I will admit that I have one nitpick with the Takistan army, I think they would look better with their pants tucked into their boots, but its so minor that its a non-factor really. Not a con of the mod at all, just my own personal preference. If its added later, great, if not, I'm still happy as can be with it in its current state) I think these guys are doing fantastic work right now and that other more well established modders of Arma 3 could take some inspiration from the new blood they've given us Edit: Another mod that is very out there, but in a good way: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?188375-ETA-Extra-Terrestrial-Adversaries Might not be to everyone's style, but at least the guy is trying something new and cool. I know I'll definitely check it out when he releases it. I know its a bit early to tell in the mods development, but I'm pretty sure those cool looking aliens wont be driving around in the stock Arma 3 Ford pickups

Afghan National Army - Re-textured Units [W.I.P]
IICptMillerII replied to Drifter's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
My opinion/advice, it would be nice if you used some other base uniform instead of just retexturing the AAF uniforms. These AAF/NATO reskins are starting to get really old, really fast. Just my two cents. Vehicles would be nice as well, and I don't mean stock Arma 3 Ford pickups with American 50s on the back, I'm talking about realistic vehicles, like older model humvees and such. And don't forget, if you want to make the mod truly authentic, make most of the individuals in a squad high on smack. Not sure how you'd go about simulating that in the game, maybe just drop the accuracy skill of the units down to almost zero. Come to think of it that sounds pretty darn realistic as well... -
Getting back on topic a bit, is anyone else rather annoyed that the bad guys are still driving around in modern/futuristic Ford pick up trucks (or whatever the Arma 3 equivalent to that is) with American made M2 .50 cals on the back? There are already a few Arma 2 vehicle port packs out of varying quality that could be used, in the least as a placeholder for something else. Honestly, anything but giving terry taliban modern/future gear like they still have. There are more than enough OPFOR "packs" out there already for Arma 3 that add a bunch of reskinned Arma 3 uniforms as bad guys that only contain infantry, and honestly its getting pretty annoying. Other modders are finally starting to give us quality, complete faction packs (EvroMalarkey - seriously check his stuff out, its fantastic) its time for this mod to catch up. Getting lost in the sauce of political issues is classic internet and all, I get it. "Ban the Swastika. No! Thats what the Nazi's promoted, heavy censorship. Swastikas everywhere to spite those damn Nazi's. Blah Blah Blah..." A forum for user made mods for a computer game is hardly the place to argue issues such as freedom of speech on an international level. I say we stop complaining about crap that at the end of the day has little or nothing to do with the game and get back to complaining about things that have some relevance, like the mod itself, and its lack of proper vehicles. Alright, fire extinguishers are standing by, let the flaming commence...
