NeoHazard 10 Posted August 17, 2010 (edited) ArmA is basically a watered down version of VBS, although in terms of performance & graphics ArmA 2 is better imho. It doesn't "smell" that we get VBS2 stuff every now and then. We don't have to get anything at all. I don't get that line of thought: "We don't have to get anything at all." Is it meant stengthen the appreciation of what we do get? Is that necessary? Certainly, I don't HAVE to spend my money on severely bugged entertainment software in order to fund the company that's creating it. However, I did... and seeing as how I did, I'd hope that I would see the progressive development of that software that portions of my money should be going toward IF that company knows what business is all about. I HAVE to pay taxes here... do I see much benefit from it... no. OnT: I would love to see this kind of development in vehicles. I've been pining to be able to truck the howitzer around. It definitely adds more tactics to what should be the king of tactics based war-sim-games. As well as the suspension recoil from weapon fire I mentioned in other threads. The suspension recoil could be the defacto interrupter for Aim instead of the camera shake effect. Edited August 17, 2010 by NeoHazard
Darkhorse 1-6 16 Posted August 18, 2010 The meaning is, VBS2 is made by a separate company. It costs $1,000 or more to buy. We should consider ourselves lucky to get anything from it at all.
[aps]gnat 28 Posted August 18, 2010 Different development groups, different countries, different licences, different customers, different addon offerings, different price tags, different responsibilities ........... all in all, different. Wanting anything moving from VBS2 to ArmA2 etc is near wishing for a miracle.

b101_uk 10 Posted August 18, 2010 Personally I would much prefer the fixing of the existing shortcomings of “vehicular physics†before BI even attempt to add semi trailer/trailer/frame steering “articulation†proper
dm 9 Posted August 18, 2010 I love the notion that your 20 - 50 euros entitles you to progressive updates tothe engine too :j:
NeoHazard 10 Posted August 18, 2010 So you're calling this a bug now? :j: No, you made that connection on your own. It is an incorrect connection as well. Most likely, one meant in spite toward me as to defend your pride-love of a product that I just targeted for substandard development aptitude. I enjoy this game thoroughly regardless of the current shortcomings. It seems like whenever I comment on the shortcomings on this board I get spammed by people who JUST LOVE IT SO DARNED MUCH THEY CAN'T STAND WHEN SOMEONE MAKES IT CRY! Anyways, seems to me like everyone is assuming the relationship between BIS and BIA. What do you really know about their cooperation? Do you know enough to really tell me what they can and can't share? Do you work for BIS? You can save your breath because I don't care about hearsay. Finally, here's how it works for us, in America at least. Let's say you purchase an automobile, a nice new computer processor or even a $30 blender. No matter the price, when one of these items doesn't work right on a large scale, the items get returned or need to be recalled. The responsibility of the company is to do a better job next time or it fails and doesn't make money, eventually closes. The reason your Arma sim isn't more popular and can't make the money to spend on better developers and engineers to create a better engine is that they keep failing at producing something that is attainable for an audience. An audience past the scope of diehards in this forum who have the stomach to put up with its problems. So yes, my money does entitle me to see developments in the engine because I didn't steal the game or borrow it, I PAID for it. I gave this company my donation. Watch, I'm going to get banned for speaking my mind ;) SOME COUNTRIES LIKE UNITED ELMO LAND AND FIDDLE FADDLE PROVINCES DON'T LIKE WHEN YOU SPEAK YOUR MIND! AHOOOOOOO! My information comes from friends in the community who actually know what they are talking about, something that can't be said for yourself. One of these friends has actually worked for both BIS and BIA, and developed alot of content for VBS2.
SPC.Spets 21 Posted August 18, 2010 Gnat created something like this in ArmA1 via scripts. ;) EDIT: He did NOT use scripts... I am even more amazed :p The video contain some copyright material and its blocked in my country :(

Darkhorse 1-6 16 Posted August 18, 2010 The video contain some copyright material and its blocked in my country :( Basically it's this. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard311/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=69;t=65161 Also, Gnat used the "Pin and Hole" method. Using no scripts, towing a trailer using modifications of each units Geo LOD so that the hitch is a Pin and a Hole method. Works very well, but not perfect.
