Wreck-It 0 Posted April 24, 2002 1. Who is your ISP 2. What type of connexion Cable or DSL? 3. Have all your PCs on this network have attributed IP adresses, or are the IPs attibuted by the router? 4. Have you specified your type of network in the network manager's NIC specification (10kps or 100TX or 100TX full duplex)? If you are using a DSL modem made by Efficient Networks, and Win98SE, there is an option that can be set to disonnect on innactivity. make sure it's off. If using Win98SE, have you downloaded the latest NDIS driver? If connected with an Efficient networks modem with Win9x, there is to way to start your connexion, one connect directly, and the other opens a "ID manager." use the ID manager, right click your connexion type and check for the options that disconnects after 5 minutes., also some of these offer 2 types of connections Private API or TCP, choose the later. If you have the choice between "protocol driver" or "filter driver", choose protocol. For your NIC's parameters, just right click the network neighborhood thingy, choose your adapter and properties Check thrue the scroll-down menus. Hope this helps, but if not, give us more details. I'll try to help the best i can.
Mister Frag 0 Posted April 25, 2002 It sounds like your router isn't keep the PPPoE connection alive, and once a TCP connection is broken, it cannot be re-established, even if you reconnect to the Internet. Go into the Setup console for your router, and make sure that the router renews the lease on your connection and doesn't kill it after some idle time. Puddle 0 Posted April 25, 2002 I think I solved the problem, I downgraded the firmware to 1.39 and the idle disconection are gone. I think I still have freeze disconection in middle of play but I have to check furthermore.
