Unable to see / join servers if OA is installed in a different way?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I seem to have a problem finding my clan's server because of the way I installed OA.. I installed it in the Arma II folder, while on our server it's been installed in a seperate folder for OA. Is this supposed to happen, or will it be fixed in the future? I find it pretty confusing / stupid that servers lose "regulars" because of different installs on peoples machines.

The server/client has options when installing OA

If they install to the ArmA2 directory, then they create a combined ops installation which can use ArmA2 content alongside OA content

If they install to a clean folder, it becomes an OA Standalone game which does not support ArmA2 content

A CO server will have -mod= ca;expansion

whereas a standalone client will just have -mod=expansion

If equal mod required is on then you will see a red circle icon in gamespy

if verifysignatures is on you will see a red circle in gamespy because the addons you are running as a combined ops client is different to that of an OA server (AFAIK)

If you were a Standalone OA client, i'm not sure if you would see a combined ops server, but as you are a combined ops client you should be able to see a standalone OA server (Filter "zeus" Our #1, #2 and #test are all standalone OA)

If you cannot see the server, then its because

a) It's not reporting to gamespy correctly

b) There is a config/addon issue or there is an issue with an mpmission that is preventing the server from loading correctly
