alswede 1 Posted November 22, 2001 I been reading som different ways to escape from prison campaign.I tried them all and the fastest and easyest way is to jump in the tank when the spetznaz guy walking towards the tent.Go close behind him and when you're five six meters from the tank,go for it.Jump in as driver put on manual fire and go strait for the chopper. You can destroy it by running in to it.Thats what I did first then I drove up close as you cant aim and shut it to peaces. You have to do the chopper as it otherwise comes for you. Then drive of I took the same way as the spetznaz that pick you up with the jeep drove.Maybee one two kmeters then out in the landscape and when you runned a few hundred meters That you are cold and hungrysceen comes up.Just go in the moons direction and you end up in a nato base. Last mission drink with old friends. Refuell that sovjet chopper that stands on the airport. The fueltruck is there as well. And then pick up your friends and go to the bar and then the games over.sniff Al (Edited by alswede at 4:34 am on Nov. 22, 2001)
Random 0 Posted November 22, 2001 On the escape mission, you could just steal the chopper yourself...
alswede 1 Posted November 22, 2001 Yeah that's what somebody said but I tried about 5 times and allways got shot before I got in the bloody thing.I tried to grab the weapons stunt as well, probably 10 times but I never maid it.I can't call them ways easy then. But getting in the tank was easy, played it three times in a row and made it from the first to the last. hollywood 0 Posted November 22, 2001 The helicopter's (obviously) way quicker though...the only problem is getting the right point and the right action in time. Once that's done it takes like a minute to finish the mission (ok...it's not that interesting but it works).
Damage Inc 0 Posted November 22, 2001 I always take the helicopter, kill a few tanks and then move south.
MotherRussiaAK74 0 Posted November 28, 2001 Uhhh... who's your gunner? Anyway I always follow orders until the chopper lands then run to the ammo crates take a PK and kill my captors! BTW, you should walk with your captors and turn around quickly. If you play your cards right it buys you time since thy have there guns on ther backs. Random 0 Posted November 28, 2001 Why do you need a gunner? Just select manual fire. I do this sometimes even if I do have a gunner.
Gorgi Knootewoot 0 Posted November 28, 2001 I always jump into the jeep and drive while i'm being shot by BMP's and the chopper. But i always escape
MotherRussiaAK74 0 Posted November 28, 2001 I tried to escape in the beginning of the mission once. Anyone had luck?
Captain Fluffy 0 Posted November 28, 2001 If you don't get into the chopper right away they will shoot you. I was able to complete the mission with dash and grab technique (do a 180 and run behind the house and grap a PK) but it took me several frustrated tries to get it right, the easiest was to steal the chopper, once you're out, just sit still for about 8 seconds, look around and you will see most of the Russians have their backs turned, run to the chopper but make sure you run around to the far side, they are less likely to hit you. If you get the copper, kill what you want and head south, there is a small base with a US Army Jeep and some troops. Once you land and get out the final cut scene will appear, you will have skipped over the Cold and Hungry at night sequence. I completed it in 9 minutes in a replay after I had initially completed it. There are some Shilka threats, I think I counted three all together on my flight path. The gunner only really helps you aim the cannons. No gunner makes going up against another Aircraft a problem, speaking of which, if you head due south along the same coast line the town you escape from is on, you will probably run into another hind, it was best for me to go over the hills inland to the opposite side and then head south following the shoreline. But hey, there are dozens of ways to complete this mission.
hollywood 0 Posted November 29, 2001 Looks like I'll have to do this mission again (I did it after a couple of tries by stealing the Hind)...does the additional cutscene otherwise always appear?
Damage Inc 0 Posted November 29, 2001 Additional cutscene?
havocsquad 0 Posted November 30, 2001 I could never get it to go to the cutscene, even after I got to the base. Â I walked all around that U.S. base but the mission wouldn't end. That is after I beat the entire OFP campaign, I tried it again by stealing the chopper and flew around blew a lot of Hinds, tanks, Shilkas, BMPs, and Russians. My advice for any who are having difficulty is soon as you get in the chooper as pilot, immediately hit the "engine on" command and get airborne. Â Then take out all the Shilkas, then kill all armor around the prision camp. Â Spray the POW camp with unguided rockets and cannon fire VERY LIBERALLY. Make those Russians pay dearly!!! Headed to the base where you start at in Red Dawn, moved around and the cold and hungary part in the mission and made it to the south American base where the mission was supposed to end.
