jpinard 10 Posted July 1, 2010 I need some ideas on how best to design an audio benchmark test. ArmA2 only allowed 16 3d samples at once. OA however, lets you crank that all the way up to 128. So I'm trying to figure out a way to surround the player with ~80 3d sounds, so the difference can be easily heard. So far my tests have not accomplished this. I made a scenario with 80 Blufor and 80 Opfor soldiers, separated them by barriers, turned their accuracy down to zero and couldn't hear a difference. I think it's because M16 shots are 2d sound splats and not 3d positional. Any other ideas? If I can make a decent test then people can see what kind of performance hit they'll have when turning it all the way up.
Egosa-U 10 Posted July 1, 2010 How about letting different helos fly to and from or passing the "player" repeatedly. Also it would be possible to do that with Armored vehicles, too. Set all units captive or without ammo, so they don't shoot down each other. Different distances cause different sounds for each vehicle. at some point you should hear a difference imho. jonneymendoza 10 Posted July 1, 2010 I personaly think the sound in OA is bad as arma 2. my sound still cuts out/lags when a lot is going on. i know this as i tested it in the editor having something like 50v50 infantry all shooting eachother whole i had a 6v6 air fighter jet war going on too lol
Egosa-U 10 Posted July 1, 2010 I hope you are referring to a system without onboard sound...if you don't, you know the answer

I'd like to see if I can replicate it.
Toasticuss 10 Posted July 1, 2010 I have the same motherboard and the only sound problems I have when using onboard sound are very quiet voices during missions.
