Question about the two editors

Recommended Posts

I see there is a full fledged editor, and one in the single player game under single missions called MY MISSIONS

My question is can Missions made with the MY MISSIONS be saved them and runas a hosted Multiplayer game and have people join a map I made?

In MY MISSIONS

I am also limited to what seems like two units (one on each side) and cannot add more than that?

Single Player > Editor can be used to make any missions, you just need to select "export to multiplayer" from the save dialog.

There is no save or unit limit (well, obviously a big one of course) in either editor.

Be a bit more precise please..

There is only 1x 2d Editor, u can use it for MP and SP missions.

If youre talking about the Editor if you are in the Server Browser in MP, yes its possible to use it for fast missions.

But Multiplayermissions are harder to create, since you need files and stuff for respawn, etc.

If you wanna start editing, this is what you need:

Editor I am talking about is the one in the Single Player menu when you launch the game.

You can do the campaign, a scenario, a visual test and there is a mission editor button there

I do that and set the parameters, the weather, pick two squads to fight, and in the map editor all I can do is move the insertion points and the people around by left clicking and dragging

There is no save option, only the option to preview my mission and test it.

Myke's screenshot IS the main OA single and multiplayer editor and that is the Takistan map he's got it open at. You also have a multiplayer quick game editor and the hidden '3d editor' which is hidden for a reason.

EDIT:

Ah I've just seen what you've been using. You've used single player>scenario's>my missions builder from the SP section. You dont need to save it, once you rename it and do your editing come out of it and you'll find it in your list of playables. It saves itself under the <new mission> tab providing you keep changing the name.

That IS the ArmA 2: OA main editor. Everything else (except the 3D editor) is just meant to set up a quick battle. For serious mission editing, only this editor will give you full control.

And it works for SP and for MP missions.

oops

I guess I am talking about

"MY MISSIONS"

SINGLE PLAYER

MISSIONS

MY MISSIONS

What is the purpose of My Missions and can they be saved?

Also I rephrased my original post sorry for the confusion. I cannot get the screenshots in game to come out

You better use the "real main Editor". There are no limits at all (unless the engine limits itself), missions can be made for SP and MP aswell.

And for larger missions, it is easier as you can save your daywork and continue the next day. Once you've done, just click on "save" and select "Export to ....." either Singleplayer or Multiplayer. The mission is then packed into a pbo and can immediately be selected in the appropriate part of the game.
