bushwacker 10 Posted June 24, 2010 Hi all, Not big on posting in forums but I do read them often when I have problems with games etc. That said Arma 2 kept me very busy on its release and there after trying to make the game work without Crashing To Desktop. Error is .exe stop's responding. My system is: Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Processor: Intel® Core i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.6GHz Memory: 6144MB RAM Available OS Memory: 6136MB RAM Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 I have tried and tried and spent hours of my life trying to fix this but have had no joy. This is the only game of lots that crash and my system runs very clean and slim as it is only for gaming on. My big question is will this be the same with Operation Arrow Head as I have pre-oreded it already but not looking forward to the disapointment of it crashing to desktop and BIS unsuccessfully fixing with a patch but having even more of my money in their pockets. What you rekon ? Bush.....
EDcase 87 Posted June 24, 2010 (edited) First off don't start blaming BIS because you have a problem with your computer. If everyone had the same problem then it might be the games fault but since most people can play without problems its obviously something to do with YOUR system. Obviously you are not the only one but considering the huge variation in computer setups there are bound to be some problems. ...And this game is more complex than any other around at the moment. Arrowhead is essentially the same but with some improvements so it may or may not be better depending on whats causing the problem for your machine. So on with the solving... I have a very similar system to you except I have the GTX285. A few things that will help discover the problem. Game version 1.05? (should try latest BETA) NVidia driver version? Addons? (does it crash without any addons?) Does it crash with no overclock? Edited June 24, 2010 by EDcase
Iroquois Pliskin 0 Posted June 24, 2010 (edited) bushwacker, Arma doesn't like Overclocked CPUs in some cases. Put your CPU and GPU clocks back to stock. Run a clean game with patch 1.05 installed. What Windows are you running? 32 or 64bit? Nvidia Drivers - download and install the latest 257.21 from nvidia.com. P.S. Don't try any Beta patches, just install a clean game with 1.05 official. It's user's fault the game doesn't run, in all my years of experience I have never had problems with practically anything, when similar problems did arise, I eventually tracked the cause of the problem(s) back to my own decisions, in example: Beta drivers, unstable O/C even if it seems stable, the 12V line on the PSU jumping like craaazy making all sort of fun stuff. :D Edited June 24, 2010 by Iroquois Pliskin
Alex72 1 Posted June 24, 2010 Arrowhead is not out yet so no one here can obviously tell you how your PC will work with it. If your PC however runs ARMA2 well then you should be able to run OA as well since its more optimized. This you should have picked up if you read the forum "often". ;) Next time you want to discuss how ARMA2 runs on specific hardware please use the stickied thread "Will my PC run this". And when OA is released there will be a new thread regarding this im sure. Closing.
