gossamersolid 155 Posted June 25, 2010 Variety,,, Come to the SBS server, you can play CTf or CTF hmmmm or CTF,, and DM little bit of organised Seige, what im trying to say is that the server owners/admins are going to play the mode that they, themselves prefer to play, THE variety is in the amount of servers that you have to choose from. Im not a lazy admin,,, I just prefer to play these type of modes and so do the rest of the guys in the clan that help pay for the running of the server.... you cant expect them to run missions that they themselves dont play.. thank you, it just helps prove my point! If we pay for the servers, we'll play what we want.
Infam0us 10 Posted June 25, 2010 Nope.... but in RL im a lazy fucker :) (so she tells me anyway) Don't let your woman tell you what to do Taxman! Demand she make you a sandwich right now :D
Zipper5 74 Posted June 25, 2010 thank you, it just helps prove my point! If we pay for the servers, we'll play what we want. I'm still not denying you own the server and put what you want on it. Feel free to use such a lack of variety, it's completely under your control, but I'm trying to get it out there that it really is killing the Arma 2 MP experience for me, and many others. But dismissing my point and my opinion entirely since you own the server and can do what you want doesn't lead to any improvement in the area, which no one can deny needs some improvement. And Taxman, as I said before, this isn't aimed at you as APL is an exception, you're a competitive league. And most of you use a huge variety of maps, which is great, and it makes sense for you to be using ping restrictions. It's almost every other server out there for Arma 2 that this is directed to. gossamersolid 155 Posted June 26, 2010 We'll you'll see variety in my server once I'm done my new gamemode, but there's a lot of work to be done on it and now that OA is coming, updating warfare is my priority.
Inkompetent 0 Posted June 29, 2010 Something to pop the ping-myth: Played a 100-player TvT this Sunday. First mission we did have some issues with desync. Not sure what they were because of. Second mission however, still with 90+ people from all over the world playing on the central-US-based server (Australians, Americans, Europeans) the mission played flawlessly. Not a hickup. No desync. That's 180-350 ping in each direction, both east and west from the server, becoming roughly 500ms between both ends. Didn't notice a single word from anyone about finding it hard to shoot. enforcer1975 0 Posted June 29, 2010 Didn't notice a single word from anyone about finding it hard to shoot. Nobody complains if their target is stuck in the middle of the field because the server has to remanage the packets -> easy target. :D ArmA is like an OS. You never know what happens, sometimes itäS running like hell, the other day it's like somebody sabotaged it even nothing has ben changed. It can happen with low pings, too but mostly when players have high distances between them. Players who are used to high ping and lag won't see that compared to a player who is spoiled with low pings. 150ms is quite ok for most Europeans. We also had some from overseas on our server, but in most cases they caused lag particularly when in numbers. Having one or two is ok. Some players do have a tactic to "use" lag to their advantage, some of you might know how but i won't give advice how to play unfair.
