cri74 10 Posted June 23, 2010 Running any beta patches? Running any Addons? Mulitplayer or singleplayer? Suggest you update drivers for graphics and sound for starters. Might allso be as simple as your computer going warm, try removing dust covers and clean out your machine so ventilation is effective :)

Haystack15 10 Posted June 23, 2010 Addons yesMultilayer and single player .. Both Were can i update it? You get get your Hardware Software updates from you Hardware company website. Say for example if you have a Nvidia Video Card then you will have to visit the Nvidia Website. If you cant find your Hardware company website then you can do a search on Bing for them. Don't only do this for you Video Card, I suggest you also do it for you Motherboard, Monitor, Speakers and other hardware items on that is used by your computer. Also don't forget to do this, If you have Microsoft Windows Vista, 7, or even XP, Also check for the latest DirectX Update. Microsoft usually comes out with a new version once every 2 months or so. Hope that helps you with updating you drivers. I also suggest checking for new drivers once every month. :D
cri74 10 Posted June 23, 2010 (edited) Since you got problems in SP and MP im guessing its not a desync problem. As for Addons i would turn the off to see if thats the problem. Example JTD Fire and Smoke puts a lot of strain on your system and can result in bad performance. For updating your system..Well.. first you need to find out what graphics card and soundcard you got in your computer :) If you got a newer windows operating system you can push the start button and write "devicemanager" and OS will suggest a program for you, or you can use control panel allso found at the start button. It should look something like this Now.. go to your video and sound to find out what cards you got installed. Write them down so you remember them. Then open a browser and google the producer of the card. Example: creative(soundblaster) and Nvidia/ATI (graphics). Each of those sites will have a support or download function, here you need to specify what kind of card you got then download the approriate update for your product. When the download is finished you run the exe file and there you go. If you havent patched your game, you should allso download the latest official patch for the game. You will find the info in the news section in this forum under Arma2... but since i'm so nice ive found it for you http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=92258 :) The problems you describe.. intervalls of 15 minutes etc.. sounds like your computer is getting to hot. Check your air intakes for dust adn that all fans are running as they should. If the computer makes a lot of fan noise just before you experience the stuttering and performance issue... its a very good giveaway that its getting to hot and shuts down prosesses to pervent damage or even burning up. Yea my computer was making hell of a noise, but then it stoped making noise and that's when my problem started .. Any thing about that?:(
Fireball 16 Posted June 25, 2010 Yea my computer was making hell of a noise, but then it stoped making noise and that's when my problem started .. Any thing about that?:( Hell of a noise = fans at high speed, trying to get the hardware cooled Noise stopped = (probably) BIOS recognizing overheat and reducing CPU multiplier to a minimum, to prevent damage (SpeedStep), could also be the graphics card doing that
EDcase 87 Posted June 25, 2010 Have you checked temperatures while gaming? It does sound like an overheat issue.
cri74 10 Posted June 25, 2010 (edited) Thats normal. Most computers will start up fans at full RPM once in a while. The heat problem usually manifest itslef when playin games, computer gets hot and shuts down processes and increase fanspeed to protect itself - resulting in slower experience of usage..stuttering and fps drops etc. This is noticeable when computetr is stressed by heavy games and usually within 15 minutes depending on HardWare and ofc if airway is heavily blocked, when it gets cool enugh the fans decrease and processes are turned back on.. everything to normal..untill its hot again. Now.. there are 3 parts of the computer whichs usually give this problem, (1)most common is big balls of dust in the air intake where fans blow air onto the CPU. (2) GPU cant get enugh cool air. (3) Fan stopped working and HD is getting hot. Since CPU air intake on left side of computer has no filter and has a big fan its most exposed to dust. Usually a big fan on the left side which drags air into the computer onto the CPU cooler, air is centrated on the cooler in a somtimes smaller and smaller channel. Dust will get in and block the airflow leaving the CPU hot. Now.. im not saying thats your problem, but its very common and usually plays out the way i explained. Most computer users dont think about this to be a problem and can even buy a new computer thinking something else and probably expensive repair..... jsut because there is a ball of dust blocking the way. Its a bit mor cost effective to remove any dust than buy a new computer i think. If you decide to open up your computer be sure to shut off all power and un-cord your computer, anti static yourself by touching the frame of the computer befor touching anything else inside the coumputer. Removing the leftside door and use a flashlight to look inside the air intake. You can allso remove parts gradually untill CPU cooling is exposed, but if you remove the cooling mechanism you could be in trouble. Between this and the CPU is a cooling paste which supply the contact between CPU and its Cooler...if removed you will need a new layer of paste. So be carefull and try to read up on it and look for some guides on how to do this..or ask somone who knows :) AGAIN... i really dont know if it is a heat problem, computrs and drivers..updates and configurations are complex and one symptom can verywell be something else.
