Lip Syching In Arma II

Hello,

I need to ask this again, I asked this once before and no one answered me, so I am asking again.

What do I need to do in order to get lip synching in a cutscene?

I have this link: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=1551 which explains what is required for OFP, but I am not sure if anything has changed in Arma II.

According to this, you need to convert your speech file to an .ogg format (got that under control), but you also need to create a lip file. The link for the wav2lip converter is broken, so how can I create a .lip file?

Someone must have done some lip syching, I have seen it in people's movies, so some of you know how to do it.

Please give me some pointers...

(PS, my epic

is almost complete, just need one lip syching scene and this baby is ready to rock!)

wav2lip is most of the time totally good enough and very comfortable to use. It's just a simple keyframe animation in a text file anyway, so if you really need to, you may easily improve it manually (with an audioeditor of your choice for reference).

O wow, thanks for replying, I had given up.

Hmm, now I have decided to finish my machinima without using lip synching, but this will be handy for future reference.

I downloaded Wav2Lip from the link, I can download it ok, but when I run it nothing at all happens.

I am running Win 7, could this be an issue?

Has anyone else got it to work?

I really need to get lip synching down for my next movie.....

You need to physically drag and drop the wav file(s) onto wav2lip.exe

Try this then:

Grab BI Tools 2 from http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Sound_Tools

Its a bigger download (33.4MB) but you only need to install the sound tools.

Once you install it, drag your 16bit mono wav file and drop it onto WaveToLip.exe

This will create the .lip file in the original location of your wav file.

Works with XP, SHOULD work with 7

I managed to get a mono wav file, convert it to .ogg format, and also create a lip file.

I now also have a Description.ext file in the mission folder which defines a sound, "speech1".

When I call speech1 in the mission (this is the name of the .ogg file as well as the .lip file) I am told "speech1 not found"!

Any clues as to what may be going wrong?

Maybe the .ogg file is not in the right format? How can I check this in Audacity please?

I have a mission folder "Scene 1 test", in that folder is the Description.ext and then there is a sub folder "Sounds" which contains the .ogg and .lip files.

Is this the correct way to do it?

Remember to save the mission every time you modify Description.ext. That file is only read on load/save.

THanks, it actually worked now all of a sudden.
