How many servers do you run...

Recommended Posts

I would like to gauge HOW MANY servers people run here at any one time, so maybe they have 8 server configs, but do they ever run anywhere over 3 ARMA 2 servers on one dedicated server at any one time?

Answers will help the creation of a new app... I think three servers at one time is enough, but others might want more functionality if I were to release it to the community.

Thanks in advance to those who give feedback,

Rob

Here's some statistics to help you figure out what's out there:

We have roughly nine or so different configs(*) for our three ArmA II servers, but the three game servers are almost never being used at the same time. One server is the "production" one used for public gaming nights and another one is used for mission testing. The third is a passworded one that's sometimes brought up for pubbie-free gaming sessions. (All on the same physical machine)

(*) By "config" here is meant a set of ArmA II launch pararameters ("-mod=...." and whatnot) and "server.cfg" variations.

Out of curiosity, what are the use cases you're addressing with this app? A tool for GSP:s to manage several ArmA II services on a machine?

Hello Killswitch, the tool is currently to manage our servers (which ones are up etc) and to provide both DEDI users an easy way to SHUTDOWN & UPDATE servers via sixupdater without any knowhow regarding running applications.

The application also aims to tie into a web API for remote management and updating of servers allowing members with authorization to log in to the website and manage servers without having to provide them with dedi access.

We have a version sort of completed, but it is highly specialised to our servers and deployment elsewhere would confuse the hell out of you guys, so at the moment I'm rewriting it to manage multiple configs dynamically, rather than the hard coded 3 we have at the moment.

If you know anyone else with arma 2 servers, their input here will be appreciated.
