Arma2 Dedicated server - Block unwanted mods

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to block specific mods from joing a server?

NOT 'equalModRequired' that won't work because you cannot select the specific mods to block.

Is there a way to do it with signatures?

verifysignatures=1

I mean for example ...

WarFX .. we could create keys nobody else has or can get and check against it maybe.

I would also need valid signatures for ACE2 and Duala , etc... (if they are even available)

I would like to do this bacause I am just sick of the most annoying popups:

"SOUND NOT FOUND" with no explanation or WHO or WHAT is using it.

"\path\ something about gasmask.crap" again .. no explanation.

"your missing something another player is using and you will have to try and guess what it is"

Please Mods, Devs .. find a solution before they write a song about it. :)

This problem is on the TOP 10 list of the most annoying things in ARMA2 .. the crashes and popups relative to poorly created mods. (i think thats what it is ... not scripted correctly)

TIA!

The signature verification is IMO pretty useful, however not every mod is signed as you point out.

WarFX is actually signed, but not the latest Beta version(s).

There's this method:

The crashes are generally caused by config incompatibilities that expose errors in the game, not by scripting.

Thanks for the links.

It appears a bit complex so I will have to look at it a bit deeper.

In reality my hope is also that there will one day be an easy way to set

modNotAccepted = "WarFXPE.pbo,WarFXVeh.pbo,WarFXWEPS.pbo";

[i digress and retract the statement about defective mods.]

"The crashes are generally caused by config incompatibilities that expose errors in the game, not by scripting."

Please explain and is there a way to make the server "compatible with all" ?

I get crashes and popups that are most annoying to players and server admins alike.

All the "hate" gets directed perhaps at the mods that people are joining with that seem to trigger all the issues.

Crashes report Arma2server.exe failures, however ALWAYS seems to happen after a person with WarFX joins the server. (same with the popups)

SupressPopups= 1;

ServerNoCrash=1;
