Tankbuster 1744 Posted May 24, 2010 I've never had the need to use this on my client machines - I'm of the 'if it aint broke, don't fit it' school and my client had always performed acceptably. But my question is, is it worth using this on dedicated servers? One of the servers I look after is one of these spanky dual CPU Xeon beasts and the GSP says it's was only using a single core during a big game last week and it struggled a little a couple of times during the game. Am I likely to see any benefit using the cpucount parameter? May or may not be relevant, the server has a Linux OS. Thanks in advance, Tanky -Paul-
cannonouscrash 12 Posted May 24, 2010 You may see a benefit. A good way to test it, the same we tested our clans Dedi is to load domination on to the server, and run #monitor and see if there is any difference, Remember to check the #monitor before you do this of course
Tankbuster 1744 Posted May 24, 2010 I'll try it.. can't hurt. The mission in question is actually domination, which we all know doe run a number of scripts on the server. Last time we played it I kept an eye on the server FPS, so I can make direct comparisons. Many thanks, Paul
Taxman 10 Posted May 24, 2010 Try firedaemon... works a treat... you can select which cores to use,, for each server on the dedi..... You can try it on the months free trial.... if you decided to purchase it, do a voucher search first :)
