Aculaud 0 Posted April 17, 2002 what kinds of things could i do with a support waypoint? I had some ideas, but i dont know if they'l work. What if i had a support waypoint and there was an un-attached squad of apaches flying around, and i was just observing the place? could they see the units i identify? And then i also heard if you give a medic or an m113 ambulence a support waypoint, you can call them if you get hurt. this true? What else can you do with it? suma 8 Posted April 17, 2002 Units that reach "Support" waypoint wait until they receive request for support from some group leader. Human leader can do this via Command menu. Once they receive the request they move to support and when finished, they are waiting for a new request.
JAP 2 Posted April 17, 2002 Suma, Is there a way to let them return to the support waypoint after giving the support ? I use it for a while now in a few missions, but i cant figure out how to let the unit return to support wp when given the "done" command 5-1-5. I use the support feature for medevac in a ctf mission, but it s kinda a sitting duck after given the support THX
Bart.Jan 0 Posted April 17, 2002 I don't call medical, fuel, repair support when there is enemy nearby. They are logistic support, not combat support.

Bart.Jan 0 Posted April 17, 2002 So if you want to save your support units  - kill youself. You'll repawn in base and there call support and they'll come to your position in base. It's a game solution.  btw : I'm using procedure about support units, I posted before, in game. OFP is a GAME with many realistic sides.

Bart.Jan 0 Posted April 17, 2002 It's a hard work to be lone wolf. (in real battle even in OFP ). Team has bigger chance to succes and OFP is team game. You hasn't discovered it yet ?

Maybe one day we meet on a map in sunny Everon and do our talking on the field It s no use trying to explain something against a supersoldier like yourself. CTF is mostly 5vs5 or even less .... so 1 abrams takes off 3 ... lets see, some troops too ... yeah ... 1 soldier as "support" for the abrams ... basedefense .... nah, dont need that ... so put 1 in a jeep to go round make a flagrun while the abrams pounds enemy base from a hill ... wow, suddenly CTF tactics have opened up for me ! pathfinder 0 Posted April 18, 2002 In case I get shot down ,I always have a team of men and medics waiting to board a rescue chopper to support me. Need to have them go passive and fly high so at least if they get shot down someone might still get to me. But my little wars are diffrent from most peoples I always use the whole map and lots of troops on bothsides so the chances them getting to me on foot is a longshot. And for the wounded tank, I think a 1 to 2 man mechanic team would make a good addon. Just to fix minor problems. I hate when my tanks tread is damaged, and the whole tank is nothing but a turret or sitting duck.

When it arrives you got a message. After you don't need support, you should give them message 5-1-5 (ready) so another commander should call them. Suppor can call every commander even AI. Main problem, for JAP ,is that support unit doesn't go back to its previous position.
